Autumn is spent out in the woods exploring the beautiful colors and nature at its finest. In the winter there is ice fishing, snowmobiling and sitting in front of the wood fireplace. A water buffalo, a duck and a bunny walk into a bar...seriously. What a cool menage mate setup that is! I was looking forward to Barclay's book. Things are hinted at throughout the series as to Barclay's problems. He has always been the strong leader of the Battle Bunnies. He never thought he would have a mate, much less two. The pure evil that hunts the paranormals has made it impossible for him but he's glad to see his brothers find their mates so they won't be alone.
I found this one to be darker than the others. There's lots of sweet and hot moments. But, it's full of gruesomeness and sadness. My heart was breaking for Barclay. Elliot grated on my nerves. He's a bit of a brat and deserves spankings...which Tavarus is more than willing to give heehee. And Barclay needed someone to hand the reins over to so he didn't have to be strong all the time.
One more battle bunny brother to go. Wonder if he'll catch the tiger by the tail? Hmmmm...
So, this book was a little bit more complicated and I loved it. Finally, some questions about Clay and the duck were answered. I wish it were a little bit longer but hey, I'll deal with disappointment!
Clay is the leader of Battle Bunnies. He is loyal, strong and will always put others needs before his own. He keeps so many secrets and suffers in silence that when some of them were revealed I was really upset for him. Here comes the duck. It was easy to guess that this duck aka Elliot was Clay's mate but so much stuff was going on behind the scenes in the first three books that it was easy to assume. But here it's confirmed. Elliot seems outwardly shy but there are many facets to his personality - he is fierce, sometimes a little bit dominant especially in bed and has great instincts. But here comes the surprise, they both have a third mate, Tavarus, a water buffalo shifter who is captured by the scientists. He is big and strong and also wise. He sees beyond the facade that both Clay and Elliot put for everybody else and gets to the heart of the problem. I think that if it was just Clay and Elliot as mates there would have been too much drama. I don't think they would have worked as they were - just the two of them. They needed a center who would be the voice of reason and Tavarus was that for them and so much more.
The S*E*X was hot and kinky and I loved it. The chemistry between them was amazing. There were still misunderstandings between them but they muddled through. There were some freaky things that I encountered while Clay and other bunnies were on the rescue missions, let me tell you. The battle in the end was very detailed, bloody but victorious! My kind of thing!!! Loved it. Anyway, I have only one more book to go in the series and I am pretty sure it's going to be a good one too!
The mystery of what is going on with the somewhat brusque oldest bunny brother, Barclay, and the enigmatic duck has been brewing for quite a while. I was excited to find out that this book is about Barclay, that the duck has a name –Elliot – and is, as I suspected, Barclay’s mate. There are also some surprises: Barclay and Elliot find out they have a third mate named Tavarus, the scientists are even more evil than previously shown, and Barclay can’t be in charge of everything. This story is suspenseful, filled with a few twists and turns, and contains some very hot three-way action once the guys find the time to work on claiming each other.
Barclay has known for a while that he is dying due to one of the scientists doing a particularly devious experiment with him as the subject. This fact explains some of his earlier gruffness (which I had a real problem with) and why he has been so focused on his brothers finding their mates. Now Barclay thinks he has reached the end of his road, but Elliot doesn’t want him to give up. Neither does Tavarus, once they rescue him, but Barclay has a hard time accepting anyone else’s opinion. He is as stubborn as they come, and it takes quite a bit of doing before he even begins to see the error of his ways.
It was good to see Elliot take human form at last and to get to know him a little. He‘s very dedicated, desperate to save Barclay’s life, and more than a little stubborn himself. He and Tavarus make a great team that focuses on protecting Barclay. His feelings of superiority over geese were hilarious.
Tavarus is big, strong and very dominant. He will not let Barclay run the mating, but he is also flexible when need be and can let Elliot or Barclay take the lead – on occasion. He is as possessive as they come and will do anything to save Barclay’s life. The fact that Barclay leads the Battle Bunnies does not sit easy with Tavarus, but he is smart enough not to interfere too much in that part of his mate’s life.
As with all triads, it takes a while for these three men to find their balance; They make a good start here, but I have a feeling there is more to come. That, and the fact that there is a hint about who Basil’s mate may be, and it doesn’t look like a natural fit at all!
If you like the ‘Battle Bunnies’ series, if you want to see Barclay fight for his life and see him accept a second mate, and if you’re looking for a read that is action-packed, suspenseful, and full of revelations, then you will probably like this novella.

Well, didn't get all the Clay questions quite answered. Like finding out WHAT was causing his problems but feeling like the answer is only partly revealed. Why none of the other brothers was subjected to the same. Why it took so long to start manifesting. It also feels like the reader still doesn't know (along with the brothers) all that Clay 'thinks' he knows. Feels being the operative word in MY case.
With the hind of a double banger, I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever get there... be patient is my advice cus you'll have to wait a while to get to it. Seeing as triple the pleasure is harder to pull off, this wasn't so bad. I think, however, if I'd had a personal choice I would have left it as a pair but that's me.
What was the huge bunny, what's the story behind it? What about the kit Clay found? Why does it seem like Basil has known his tiger and been abandoned for some reason for quite a while.. Oh wait, that one is easy since basically its told to us at the end.
The new danger lurking with the potential of others being affected like Clay has been will hopefully be addressed along with any lingering questions with the last brother's mating coming up. Let's just hope!
It was lovely to get some of the mysteries solved. Finally met the duck, Elliott, and he was awesome along with Tavarus, the African water buffalo. It was nice to see Clay get his own happiness after everything he suffered.
Now I'm waiting for Basil's story......I'm betting it'll be a good one!
Clay has done everything he can to survive just long enough for his brothers to mate. But the pain is becoming too much. He has put his mate off knowing a mating will kill them both. But what happens when fate grants not one but two mates? Barclay is fourth in Stormy Glenn and Bellann Summer’s Battle Bunnies series. I loved Clay. He was trying to do the right by his brothers and his mate, only to find himself with not one but two mates. I loved that Clay took care of everyone but himself. And then he meets Tavarus. And Tavarus refuses to lose one of his mates to self-sacrifice. This story by Ms. Glenn and Ms. Summer is full of emotional highs and lows. I mean Clay is facing mortality even as fate gives him males made just for him. How does one even process that? I love that Tavarus refuses to let either of his mates walk away. He knows that together they are strong and hurt feelings nor mortality will stop his mating. This story is well written. It was emotional and has both the depths of despair and the highs of love. Ms. Glenn and Ms. Summer showed a family willing to fight for each other and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I liked this book, just not as much as the rest of the series. There were just too many questions left unanswered. We still don't know much about Clay, and even less about his mates. We pretty much know their names and what they shift into. The other brothers' mates got more background info.
I am looking forward to Basil and his tiger in the next book.
When Clay saves a Cape Buffalo he finds that Tav is on of his mates. Elliot is finally able to shift out of his duck and he finds he has two mates. Clay must learn that secrets hurt everyone. As they work through the issues that come with the blending of 3 wounded souls. Another fantastic book in this series.
This series still has many questions to answer, but I'm confident that we'll get there. I'm glad that Clay now has his mates. This mansion is getting fuller and fuller as we get more mates and kits. I love this writing duo's work.
Finally we get to know why Clay was acting the way he was acting. And finally we learned the name of the duck. And I just loved Tavy, and how he leads his mates.
