“Know that I am here to protect ye. Ye’ll not suffer harm if ye stay with me.” He sounded stern, like he was expecting her to hotfoot it out of there, but she didn’t need to be talked into keeping him around. She didn’t want to be on her own with thugs running about. “Sarah, ye are mine to care for. Do ye ken?” The way he said it – like she was his, like he owned her now – filled her with conflicting emotions. Gratitude? Attraction? Relief? What she should feel was disdain for the way he looked at her with possession and satisfaction. She bit her lip as he waited for a reply. Finally she nodded. “Yes, I understand.” No, she didn’t understand this at all.
When fourth grade teacher Sarah Davis receives a mysterious package from her grandfather, she's confused. When she's snatched out of her classroom by thugs demanding said package, she just wants to escape and find her grandfather.
Highland Warrior and spy Murdoch Stirling thwarts a kidnapping and inserts himself into a dangerous situation. So far, so normal for him. He’s willing to help Sarah recover her grandfather. Not only is it a lot more exciting than what he’s been doing for the last few centuries, she belongs to him. In fact, even if she wants him to leave, he’s not going anywhere.
Can a bad situation provide the backdrop for falling in love, or will their limited time be overshadowed by the threat of harm to her and her loved ones?

These novelettes are not great literature, but they are entertaining. I did find Murdoch's instant claiming of Sarah as his, and her almost instant acceptance of the claim annoying and unrealistic, but he did come through on his promise to protect her and her family. There wasn't much back story on either one of their lives before meeting. It was mildly enjoyable reading, and exciting once the action between Murdoch and Sarah's pursuers commenced. I am still wondering how these Highlanders living in a time of persecution and want can be so huge and muscular.
I started reading this book thinking it was a paranormal time travel romance. But as I turned the pages I quickly realized that it's more than that. The romance between Sarah and Murdoch was wonderful. But I especially enjoyed the spy and espionage thriller that went with it. Great book
Maybe it's my unabashed love of showed like Blacklist and Castle and Lucifer and gun toting revenge seeking men but this is certainly my favorite Mists of Time book thus far!
I love Murdock- he punished himself for centuries- his guilt blinded he's self worth, until Sarah. Mid-sized someone who is his-his alone. And the rest is history.
This is a romance with adventure. It is a clean book but does have some violence in it. I enjoyed the story very much. It is an easy read that can be read in one sitting.
I love these Highlander ghosts who died in battle after a massive betrayal each now getting a second chance at life.
Murdoch was a captain and a spy, and he's burdened with a weight of responsibility for his clansmen's deaths. Depressed and in a self-inflicted purgatory for his fatal mistake, the witch works hard to convince him to go. She finally stumbles on something that resonates with him: someone needs him - a woman who is his alone to rescue.
At the time of his death, Murdoch didn't have anyone, let alone a sweetheart. He arrives in time to thwart a kidnapping. Sarah notices his Highlander qualities right away, since he's set in stark relief against everyday Boston - from his physique, accent, and fighting prowness . . . to his old fashioned values. And Murdoch values taking care of his own. He's convinced Sarah belongs to him, and she warms up to the foreign idea. Murdoch finally has someone connected to him and a chance at redemption if he can keep her safe, and he's eager not to fail.
I stumbled back on to my Culloden Ghost books by accident so I decided to read more. Lucky me because I enjoyed Sara and Murdoch story. Sarah is a fourth grade teacher who has just started her new job and is being sexually harassed by her the principle. Ewww! Anyway, she get a book from her grandfather that they have already read together and the next thing she knows she almost kidnapped. LOL... In steps (literally) Murdoch who almost didn't come to her rescue but once he didn't he refused to leave her side. He kicks bad guys ass and all even takes a bullet for her which she repays in turn. The rest of it you will have to find out for yourself. LOVED IT!!
Murdoch is a macho, possesive Highlander ghost that shows up just in time to prevent Sarah's kidnapping. Together, they unravel a mystery and save her family. Murdoch was a bit too possesive for me, but I still enjoyed the story and I love this series.
At first it was grand slipping around the alleys an back roads so no one could follow him. They never new he missed the signs one spy that then led them to their doom. Now he has a chance to keep someone safe. Great read as always.
What a fun read! Making the unbelievable somehow plausible the tale spins its web of despair and haunting loneliness conquered by adventure, intrigue and espionage... But most of all by the power of love.
