Saving the future can be a rough gig. Of course, there's no other job Robert would rather have. You see, he's The Last Time Traveler. And he and his crew have been tasked with going back to repair the damage the previous time travelers did. As one can imagine, undoing thousands of years of time travel is both time consuming and exhausting. It can also be surprising, exciting, and down right dangerous. Fortunately, Robert always has everything under control. Except, of course, when he doesn't...
Still a quick, cute read but this time the conflict was really ramped up. There was more meat to the story but this didn't diminish the lighthearted vibe of the series. The great secondary characters got to play a little more which was a delight. Rob was still his chauvinistic, egotistical self but there were glimpses of growth and hope for him. A much more balanced and engaging adventure than the first book.
I enjoyed the previous book in the series but commented on my review that the characters never got into any real trouble on their missions.Well they do in this book ! Things don't go as planned and they have to answer for their actions. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm ready for the next in the series!
Not as good as the first. Much too involved in worrying about who was kissing who and what not. Could've been better with more story line and plot. I'm not a romantic so the excessive (young men vs. young ladies) was boring and made it hard to finish the book.
Something nice to read on vacation or in a hammock in your backyard when you don't want to have to remember tons of characters, figure out complex plots or look up esoteric words all the time. This is just a purely fun read that is driven by characters with wonderfully flawed characters but not sinister. I enjoyed it muchly!
Usually sequels fall flat or are just ok after a fun book 1. This series, so far, is the exception. I have had to suspend trying to figure out how time travel works and decided that being part of the crew was enough. Book 2, NRFTW, was in some respects better that The Last Time Traveller. I was put off by Rob a bit in the first novel, but I adopted Vox' s attitude towards Rob. Observe, let Rob know you know that he knows he is shooting from the hip, maybe make a comment, and enjoy the ride through the entire adventure. There aren't as many references to current science fiction pop culture tv shows, movies, or books, but NTFTW had me laughing and high fiving some of the female crew members. It's a fun romp. Okay, I need the next one already, Mr Ethridge.
I liked this book and the first one. They were a fun easy vacation read. If you like silly time/space travel tv shows like Galaxy Quest or even Mork & Mindy, this is for you. There is zero real science but it's fun adventures to "save time" with a cute cast of characters who learn little life lessons along the way.
