Daisy Harlow discovers her long-term boyfriend isn’t contemplating a proposal but rather how to get his mistress out of the house before she gets home. As if things can’t get any worse, broken-hearted Daisy gets fired from her job at the Post Office.
Stuck living with her best friend and tormented by three children under the age of five, Daisy needs a fresh start and she needs it fast. Enter her least favourite customer Mrs Haversham. Daisy finds herself offered a few weeks away in Mrs H’s country cottage in Norfolk. Time to recharge her batteries and think of her future. Thank goodness Mrs H’s son is married though, she can do without her matchmaking efforts.
So who’s the dark haired hottie currently occupying a bedroom of the cottage? He says he’s Mrs H’s other son. One Daisy knows nothing about.
It all leads to a Bunk-Up, a sharing of the cottage and each other.

An enjoyable, silly, sexy, corny, over the top read that is set in a cute small town. There are a few British sayings that I had trouble understanding but the story was fun especially coming off a dark book . The story features a lovable heroine named Daisy and her fall for her bunk mate, Frazer McNeil.

Regressive, Reckless, and Ridiculous: Meet the Worst Book I've Ever Read

In all honesty, this is the worst book I’ve ever read. It’s so backwards-leaning, demented, idiotic, and irresponsible, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Long and Sidebottom are actually Trump and Musk respectively.

Daisy is our female protagonist who has just been cheated on by her boyfriend, been fired from her job, and, encouraged by friends, now wants to take a holiday. To give you a first idea of what Daisy is like, let’s examine her thoughts about that:

»My pout returns when I remember she’s right. I have no job to try and take holidays from. I have no boyfriend to seek permission from.«

The male protagonist, Frazer, is by no means better.

»From what I know, Nigel is a prize ass, anyway, and I’m sure no mother could be proud of a son who wears brown corduroys and a feather fucking earring while he sticks toenail clippings to bits of cardboard – all at the same time.«

His behaviour resembles that of a reckless, careless, horny teenager. He doesn’t mind “forgetting” using a condom much and when asked to visit the local pharmacy for the pill after, he refuses because he’s a man…

Daisy's reaction to this is… surprising as well: She starts hopping, “Trying to get it all out. You know, fling it downwards!” as a means of birth control.

Frazer also thinks “pulling out” is a valid method of contraception, and so does Daisy, as she doesn’t even react to it. He also doesn’t mind jumping the next available female despite harbouring very strong feelings for Daisy. To get rid of said woman the morning after, he behaves extremely rudely and insultingly to her.

There’s also a notable side character called Frank. Frank seems to be a middle-aged white male of the “disgusting sexist” variety. Whenever and wherever he sees a woman, he greets her like this:

»Frank is sitting at his spot on the bench, and lifting a hand in greeting to me, he shouts out, “Morning, sugar tits.”«

And this is by far the most “harmless” greeting…

Fittingly, the writing feels cheap and bland, with absolutely no highlights and humour of this type:

»He makes money out of used loo rolls and my life is so shit I need the toilet tissue.«

There’s a lot of sex and I usually don’t complain about smut but the sparse and barren language as well as a complete absence of noticeable, credible desire or at least lust gives it a mechanical, transactional, and sometimes clinical feeling. Let’s take a look at Daisy’s and Frazer’s first “encounter” (abridged):

»“Show me your dick and I’ll sign the piece of paper.”
[...]
“Oh yeah. Okay then. Here goes.”
[...]
He winks at me. “Fine with me. Listen. This is going to sound weird, but can I touch your boob just a little bit?”
[...]
“Okay.”
[...]
“I want to touch it.”
[...]
“You can if you want but then you’ll have to excuse me to go to the loo and know I’m going to think about your body as I beat off. I’ve gone past the point of no return here.”
«

This, fellow readers, is how they fall in insta-love. It is also the moment when I started feeling nauseous.

Even though this is more of a novella, there’s still tons of filler material, e. g. Daisy going on a dinner date (a disaster both story- and novel-wise) during which she complains about the size of one of the waiter’s eyes…

»The waiter huffs loudly and shifts from one foot to the other. I’d feel sympathetic for him but he definitely has one eye bigger than the other and looks down right shifty.«

The authors go on, and on, and on to put every single shitty cliché into their novel…

»Shirley reaches out and pats Daisy’s hand. “Aww, darling, you should have said if you’re premenstrual.”«

… to “dumb blondes”...

»Maybe because, a, your dick definitely does NOT taste of lychees like you promised.«

… and great, loving parenting styles…

»Your brother ran away at thirteen when I told him he couldn’t dye his hair pink. He did the same at fourteen when I told him his new earring looked stupid. It was a peacock feather, for God’s sake.«

There’s even blackfacing…

»Kathy and I are dressed in hoodies and jeans. We’ve put the darkest fake tan on our faces and hands so we look a different race altogether from a distance. That’s what we’re going to be all night long.«

This could go on for all of the 260 pages of this irredeemably bad book, one of the very few without any redeeming qualities at all.

There was one moment, though, that made me laugh out loud but, unfortunately, it was unintentionally funny and only serves to show how, uhm, “intellectually challenged” these authors are:

»She then turns over and is out as if someone has put a chlorophyll-filled tissue in her face.«

Dear Andie and D.H., the word you were looking for is “Chloroform” which firmly belongs to the 19th and early 20th century from which your novel’s jokes, ideas about gender, sex, and societal norms also come.

Your verbal diarrhoea is disgusting and solely garners one star out of five because I can’t give none.

I can’t…I just can’t easily tell you how awesome this book was. Like, how many times did I laugh and smile at something that was pure genuinely funny. The characters, the storyline? The fresh way the H was on fire (wink)

Rummaging in my bedside drawer for one of the matches I use to light candles.
“I’ll cry every time I look at one of these from now on.”
I hold up a match.
“These remind me of Marcus’s tiny ____. Watch.”
I strike it against the match box and extinguish it with a quick breath.
“One quick blow and he’s out.”

The great thing is this book is live now and if you need something that will catch you, keep you, make you beam and giggle and get you bothered in a good way then you have it here. It’s an easy click.

But, I’ll have my full review with Lustful as soon as my high turns into sensible words and I’ll tell you again to click The Bunk Up!

Megan's Review

Where do I begin???!!! Where do I freaking begin to explain how totally awesome this damn book was?????

I was ready to deem this perfection of a book a huge glowing 5 stars at the early stages (5%) It just felt like it was the book to give me what I like and love. Listen to me!!!! It flowed with the same perfection throughout the entire read!!!! This book was delectable and scrumptious and hit every high note imaginable!!!

It’s so worth it. All those bad books, all which has the crap of the same ole thing. WORTH IT. Trust me because of those crappy reads when a book like this falls open and you literally are hooked by the first word there is nothing, nothing better than that!

Rummaging in my bedside drawer for one of the matches I use to light candles.
“I’ll cry every time I look at one of these from now on.”
I hold up a match.
“These remind me of Marcus’s tiny penis. Watch.”
I strike it against the match box and extinguish it with a quick breath.
“One quick blow and he’s out.”

I totally want to clone Daisy and be her best friend. I want to her to teach me how to be her. She is that damn awesome. After Daisy reacts in the best way imaginable (this scene alone deserves an award) when she catches her douche boyfriend with another gal she decides she’s had enough and plans to turn over a new leaf.

Sex with a stranger has been one upped! Sex with Frazer, sex with the guy who stumbles into your cottage when you are supposed to be alone, sex with someone whose package gives you an easy eye sore compared to the pin needle your ex had!! Yes!! Yes, Daisy is not backing down!! An escape away alone…. all planned, in turn meets Frazer. Her first road stop to shedding that bad karma, trying new things. No second guessing. Holy bananas was Frazer just perfect for this book and for Daisy. He’s like this new book boyfriend 2.0. Everything about him was lip-smacking and pleasing! He had it all!! I loved that they were totally friendly together and no major strings were tied until you couldn’t take the pull anymore. That’s when things got itchy for them.

We made an agreement, we can see other people. I need to go shag Tiffany and maybe try and have a crack at Ellie. I stare down at my cock. There’s not a flicker of enthusiasm. Shall we shag Daisy? F*cking hell, it’s like a balloon being pumped up. Betraying bastard.

The comical concoctions this story had were purely gratifying. Not in the pushed too far humor or the overdone funny puns. This was pure Daisy, her mother, Frazer, the bar, the film, the surroundings, Mrs. H!!!

“Mother. I think I want to marry that girl.”
“Steady on, Frazer. You’ve only just decided you love her.”

But, her mom? Wowser’s woman, she was….I can’t begin to explain how inappropriately awesome she was!! (I feel like I can’t say awesome enough in this review. I don’t think any other word would justify what I need it to represent. There can be so much rolled in this one word) I would cringe if she was my mother but I’ll be happy to read about her any time of the day!!

“Can’t you just buy a vibrator?
“Oh, they don’t taste the same, Daisy, love.”

The Bunk Up is a quick, easy, funny and also slightly touching story.

The plot isn't surprising but I really enjoyed it thanks to the authors' flowing writing, great humour, steamy sex and a bunch of entertaining characters.

I loved how Daisy, our heroine, even after she received some bitter lemons from life took the chance to start anew and be happy...maybe for the first time not setting down for anything other than the best for herself.

4 hallucinogenic pies and beer stars

Well that was funny, gave my lots of chuckles and the one liners exhibited Good old British humour.

"Do you have underpants"
"You'd still stare at my package"
"I'm used to large parcels I worked in a post office"

Daisy is a woman fleeing her cheating boyfriend who in her words she found with his pasty white arse pumping up and down in front of her eyes with Belinda the receptionist.

So off Daisy goes to a little village staying at a remote cottage only when she arrives finds she's not alone.

Frazier is also staying at the cottage but not to his mother's knowledge who has let Daisy use it.

The couple agree to share the cottage and the fun begins with the bunk up.

The whole plot had a Bridget Jones feel with the banter and silliness.

Favourite line:
Daisy to her mum:
"Can't you just get a vibrator"
""Oh they don't taste the same Daisy love"

&
"I like this perfume what is it?"
""It's Sudocrem"
"Eh"
"Got a spot coming "

Lots of lol moments, great characters, fun and frollicks, lots of shagging references and a plot that does eventually lead to a hea giving you a happy sigh.

Great Romantic comedy

OMG!!! I loved this book! There are so many laugh out loud moments! The sex scenes are so real since things don't always go as planned, with hilarious results! Even with the humor in the book, the story does deal with some serious issues: betrayal, an adult dealing with the emotional baggage of being abandoned by his mother, a mother dealing with the emotional baggage of abandoning her child, and revenge(hilarious revenge!). All the issues are dealt with in a realistic manner but the book is never dark and broody. Of course, love and romance are the main themes.

I truly enjoyed this well-written story. Some of the characters could have come across as complete stereotypes or caricatures but they don't, thanks to the writing skills of Andie M Long & DH Sidebottom. The story is chock-full of quirky characters and I would love to see all of them get their own book.

I can't decide if my favorite scene involves handcuffs or a dog costume and Thor. Intrigued? Good. Grab a copy of this book and see what I'm talking about.

FUN AND GAMES IN A COUNTRY VILLAGE

I love any book by D.H. Sidebottom. When I'm given the chance to read a bookthat she has co-authored with Andie M. Long - there is no way I'm going to turn down that chance. I am so glad that I didn't. I loved this book. It was humorous, witty, a bit angsty and very very enjoyable.

Poor Daisy Harlow's woes seem to go from bad to worse and then they go off in another direction. A cheating, boyfriend, loss of a job and moving in with your best friend (who has three pixies for children) - this can only lead to one thing - A MELTDOWN. Rescued by Mrs H, Daisy is off to Beydon, to spend a few weeks to recover and regroup in Mrs H's country cottage.

Enter Frazier McNeill, an unexpected intruder at the cottage. He has secrets that he doesn't want Daisy to know - but how long can he keep them. This is where things start to get humorous. The cottage only has ONE BED, and because neither is willing to let the other have it - they decide to share - therein lies THE BUNK UP.

I loved Daisy and Frazier from the get go. They appealed to my funny side. The antics the pair of them get up to will be enough to leave you laughing out loud (and getting strange looks from your family). Refusing to admit to themselves that they may have developed feelings towards each other leads to some quite funny and also heartbreaking moments.

From country cottages, to film sets, to an hilarious bachelor party and even more hilarious wedding I was kept glued to this story from beginning to end. i literally devoured it in one sitting. It is most definitely one that I would reread. Well done to Dawn and Andie on writing such a wonderful story. I hope that there are many more to come from your combined pens.

The Bunk Up
By: Andie M. Long & D.H Sidebotom
4.5 amazing stars!

First time reading a book for this author and I have no regret!

I really enjoyed it so much and had a great laugh too!

I love the sense of humor in the story and also the drama. Is not everyday you read about seeing your boyfriend – high school sweetheart – little weedle inside another girl. . .

Mission, mess around with strange man at a strange city. Who would have thought that she will meet a man at the cottage she is staying at? For the record, his weedle is not little.

A romance with no string attached, we all know it never goes as planned but, your right it wont goes as planned.

I don’t want to spoil the story, but I will say if you having a shity day and need a good laugh I fully recommend this book. It was amazing and awesome, and you won’t regret it.

I’ll share one my favorite scene – funniest one

“. . .Then blinking, he appears to shake himself and slips out of me. “Great sex, babe,” he quips flippantly as he climbs from the bed.

Something stabs at my chest and I don’t very much like the feel of it. So, just as flippantly, I remark. “Cheers for the orgasm, babe.”

He smirks over his shoulder at me as he walks across the room towards the door. He’s completely naked and I can’t help appreciate the view. He’s hard in all the right places.

Opening the door as he looks at me, he winks, “Let me get rid of this condom and I’m more than willing to makeou come in my mouth.”

My jaw drops.

But it isn’t at his offer. It’s the sight of my mother, stood in the doorway, her eyes very firmly fixed on Frazer’s semi-hard cock. “Get yourself a vibrator, you told me,”she utters as her eyes turn to me. “If they come in this flavour I’ll buy a couple.”

The Bunk Up by D.H. Sidebottom & Andie M. Long is the story of Daisy a young lady who comes home from work to find the only man she has ever been with in the bed they share pumping into another woman. With no place to go she ends up at her best friend’s house who is married and has 3 children called the evil pixies. After a rough night on their couch she goes to work where she is informed by her boss her services are no longer needed due to cutbacks. Now finding herself with no man, no home and now no job she finds help in the most unlikely place. Mrs. H is the old lady that has come into her old job on a regular basis and usually worked every one’s last nerve, now she has offered Daisy her cottage in a small town. Daisy decides to go there to rest, relax and come up with a plan to get her life on track. This is where the adventure really begins. The first night she is there a strange drunk guy climbs in bed with her naked. This story is a far departure from anything I have ever read from D.H. I have not laughed this hard reading a book in a long while. I literally had tears running down my face and was clutching my stomach. The interaction between Daisy and naked guy aka Frazier is a combination of hot sex which Daisy has never experienced and war of the roses. The rest of the cast of characters in the small town as well as Daisy’s over sexual mother kept me entertained. I really liked this story. It was a good tale of inexperience sweet girl meets troubled man whore and what ends up happening when they have to bunk up. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. Good, funny and entertaining story and is all of 5 stars. I am looking forward to the next book.

This is the first book I have read by either of these authors, I have heard of them both but never ventured into their stories. I have to admit the story was a pleasant surprise for me, while I knew it was a romantic comedy I didn’t realise how funny it was going to be. I feel like its just what I needed. I read this book in the space of a morning, I just couldn’t set it down.

Daisy has just been dealt 3 life changing blows in a matter of 24 hours, she is struggling with what to do when Mrs H comes to the rescue and offers her holiday home for her unknowingly setting the wheels in motion for Daisy’s first bunk up.

Frazer is the son very few people know about, he resents his mother and hates talking or even thinking about her. He takes himself off to her holiday home without anyone knowing he's there. Frazer was a bit of a jerk to be fair but he was a loveable one! Frazer can’t believe his luck, he’s sharing a house with a pretty woman who wants to have a “bunk up”/ no strings relationship.

Frank and Shirley stole the show for me, I loved Franks random outbursts and Shirley’s slutty behaviour. Shirley is the type of mum you completely dread having yourself but love it when its your friends mum. She was a force to be reckoned with.

This book was so much more than I expected, it had me clutching my sides from laughing but there were also a few times it pulled at my heartstrings a little. It was silly, funny, way over the top at times and pretty cheesy too, It is definitely a book that will cheer you up. This is a must read book for anyone who likes a good laugh and doesn’t want anything too serious.

Daisy has been with her boyfriend for years and one day she comes home after a bad day at work to find him with another woman. Deciding that she to get away she decides to stay at a cottage in Beyton that belongs to Mrs. Halversham. Looking forward to getting away and figuring out what to do next with her life, Daisy leaves for the cottage. Fraser, an up and coming actor is trying a get a part in the film that is being short in Beyton. Staying at his mother's cottage while the production is made. Coming home one night to Daisy in the bed the two decided to stay in the one bedroom cottage together and bunk up. With no plans to fall in love, they agree to enjoy each other's company. While having fun with each other feelings start to change and emotions are held back. Will Frazer finally settle down? Or will Daisy let her happiness pass her by?

I enjoyed this book. At some parts in the book I laughed so much I had to put my kindle down. This was my first book from DH Sidebottom that wasn't dark and twisted, rest assured that it will not be my last. I would recommend this book for others to read.

The Bunk Up (The Village People Book 1)
by D H Sidebottom, Andie M. Long
The book was sensational. The authors have done an outstanding job with these characters and the emotions that they are feeling. I have laughed, giggled and cried out with laughter all the way through. Poor Daisy life is turned upside down when she finds her boyfriend cheated on her. Marcus fittingly gets what he deserves and you will be in hysterics. Frazer, there just is nobody like Frazer and you will love him in a weird sort of way. You also want to give him a few smacks over the head along the way. All the supporting characters played fantastic roles in bringing Daisy and Frazer together. What starts out as a bunk up between the two of them soon turns to so much more. Mrs H plays a huge part and it was great to see her get some happiness in her life. All I can say “you have to read this book”. I need botox fillers for all the laughter lines. Fantastic book if you are looking for a good laugh and a HEA.

The Bunk Up by Andie M Long and D H Sidebottom.

I haven't laughed so much reading a book in a long time who knew D.H Sidebottom and Andie M Long could write something so hilarious. Utterly brilliant

Daisy returns home after losing her job at the post office to find her long term boyfriend in bed with someone else. Feeling hurt and miserable Daisy takes the kind offer of staying at a post office customers home in a little village in Beydon. This is where the laughs the shocking moments begin. It's also where we are introduced to Frazer. These two characters work amazingly well together.

The dialogue of this books characters is brilliant it bounce of one another. The one liners, work amazingly and I do love Frank.

I'm so glad to be given the chance to read this book and I'm definitely excited for the next one.

WOW!!!! Did these two Authors bring these characters to life through out this highly entertaining story. I absolutely loved it and couldn't get enough, I laughed from the very first page right to the very end. There were so many characters, and each had their very own role, to bring this story together even slime ball Marcus, especially Marcus, he definitely got what was coming to him in the end. Frazer and Daisy were awesome together, I really wanted to jump in the book and go on their journey with them, because I know I would have one heck of a time. You definitely won't be disappointed when you pick up and devour this book, just a warning your cheeks will hurt from laughing and smiling when you finish. Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Carolyn.

This is the funniest book I have read in a long time. I was hooked reading the lives and hilarious antics, of these characters. I was in stitches most of the way through, Daisy comes out with crazy words and sayings and Fraser has no filter saying and doing whatever he wants whenever he wants. They were perfect for each other. I love reading when two authors co-write, this was written so well I could not tell which was which, I hope to hear more from Dawn and Andrea, and hope that there is more on the lives of Daisy, Frazer and the rest of the residents of Beydon.

Holly crap what a hot, sexy read. Andie has pulled me in, I couldn't put this book down. Daisy is offered a great escape which is much needed since she found her boyfriend with another, so a escape to a cottage is just what she needed but having a sex roommate was not part of the plan. Frazer is wonderful his sassy mouth and the banter between the two is great and of course the sexual chemistry is Hot. loved it.

Hilarious from start to finish. I'm a huge fan of sidebottom but never read anything from Andie. Well I now have all her books lined up and ready to read. Great book. Something different from Dawn. Brilliant. Go read.

I usually steer clear of books set in other countries because of language issues, but decided to give this one a try. I am so glad I did! I laughed so much during this book! The characters are likeable, the storyline was cute, and the story was pretty drama free.
