"He infuriates me doing god knows what next door while I'm trying to sleep. It wouldn't be a problem if he wasn't always so Loud."
My name is Brooke Baker and I'm a sophomore in college. Today, I'm moving into an apartment with my best friend Leslie. That's where I meet my new neighbor Emerson. I know his type — good looking, built, killer smile. He’s the kind of guy girls ogle and make fools of themselves flirting with. I've seen my share of partying frat boys and can spot one a mile away. Unfortunately, I still find myself stealing glances at him. I immediately decide I will simply have to avoid the neighbors, one of them particularly. This proves difficult to do when I show up for my Monday morning science class and Emerson takes a seat directly behind me. To make matters worse, our professor partners us up.
The next two weeks all but convince me I was right. Emerson and his roommate are loud more often than not, always having parties, and whoever’s in the bedroom next to mine has a lot of sex. I had to confront him...
My name is Emerson and I've had an I an eye on Brooke ever since she moved in. My first impression is that she’s stuck up, straitlaced, and prudish. The exact opposite of the type I spend my time with. Still, I can’t help being attracted to her. She won't give me the time of day until one night comes knocking at my door, angry about the noise. I'm only wearing a towel and she can barely spit out any words. That's when I know have her. Soon, she'll be mine.
* This sexy steamy alpha male bad boy romance is perfect for fans of Joanna Blake, Sosie Frost, Sabrina Paige, Winter Renshaw, Vanessa Waltz and Dani Wyatt. It has a HEA and includes 2 bonus books. *
Claire Adams just gets better with every book. Loud is no exception. A good read already banded together so you can keep going through the series as quickly or as slowly as you want.
I enjoyed this book a lot.. Emerson was such a great guy that was just a bit understood.. then Brook came into the picture and changed his whole direction in life.. loved it!!
Being into geek culture doesn't make you cool, doesn't make you unique or any more interesting than the next human - but for some reason the author clearly thinks it does and so of course we are inflicted with this piece of shit of a main character who is basically the most pretentious, unlikable twit ever. OMG YOU GUYS, SHE PLAYS GAMES. AND SHE HAS A TWITCH CHANNEL. DON'T YOU SEE HOW COOL AND UNIQUE SHE IS?
She isn't like the OTHER girls. Fucking shit I am sooooo fucking tired of female characters in books being made out to be great because they're not like OTHER GIRLS. Because they're not GIRLY girls. Because they're basically ONE OF THE GUYS.
Do authors - female authors especially - really not see how bullshit this is? Positioning a female character to be superior because she's not like other females - who are INFERIOR, is a huge disservice to all women. Why do the women in books have to put other women down in order to demonstrate how special and unique and good they are?
I'm all for self-love but it's the same with the books who tout the superiority of "curves" vs being "stick figures" or "beanpoles". Fucking hell -- loving your own body doesn't mean you have to put down those who are different to you.
I basically have zero idea how this is in any way about a "bad boy" or "alpha male". Male character is basically a walking doormat whose main function is to idolize Special Snowflake Bitch who judges him for being with another woman who dares to look female. Male character has met Special Snowflake exactly once but immediately somehow becomes obsessed with her and INSTINCTIVELY knows how special and different she is and how she's not like the woman he's with at ALL. He is sad because she seems mad about the other woman. This is all perfectly normal and possible and totally not a sad projection at all.
Vomiting. With. Rage. I would literally subtract stars from this review if I could.
When Brooke moves into a new place with her best friend Leslie she meets her new neighbor Emerson. When Emerson sees Brooke he likes what he sees but Brooke just getting out of a bad relationship is focusing on school. With Chris, Emerson's friend and roommate can't seem to grow up and doesn't care about his partying and Leslie & Brooke can't take it. Brooke tries to stay away but when Emerson ends up in the same class and now partners it is impossible. Brooke is letting her guard down and see's a different side of Emerson but when a misunderstanding has Emerson thinking the worst it might be over before it begins.
Received this book from the author in exchange for a honest review
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. We have Brooke who's just moved into a new apartment with her best friend Leslie. Then we have Emerson who's living next door and just happens to pull up on his motorcycle as the girls are struggling trying to unload their couch. The sparks fly but Brooke is very leery of Emerson. She's been hurt bad lately and really doesn't trust men at all. Fate changes things for these two. Misunderstandings happen but in the end we get our HEA. Another great Claire Adams book!
This story is about Brooke and Emerson, two college kids who are attracted to each other from the moment they meet. Brooke and Emerson and are trying to get to know each other and see where it goes.
However there is obstacles in their way. Brooke was hurt in a previous relationship and needs to learn how to trust again. Emerson is enjoying the party life of the college student.
Their chemistry is strong but they have obstacles/people in their path they need to work through. If they can work through it they may stand a chance. Will they work trough it or will it end before it starts?
Claire Adams has gotten the young adult characters down pat but I guess I'm a little bored after reading this series. Don't get me wrong, I thinking Claire's got a good formula but has over done it. No fire and we know everything's going to be love conquers all. Yawn. Sorry Claire.
My rating is only for the first book featuring Brooke and Emerson. I am not giving 3 stars because the book is bad, the book just didn't fit my taste or the book mood I was in. Also some situations in the book just annoyed me which affected how I overall felt.
At least with this book the characters are young so their immaturity is understandable. The story was so long and drawn out. It was boring and predictable.
I really really wanted to enjoy this story especially after reading the first few pages and being introduced to Emerson. But, it just got worse. I had hoped that Emerson would have confronted Chris long before the incident occurred especially knowing who his mother was. He didn't stand up to Chris and he didn't stand up to Brooke especially when she was being a bitch to him. He also continued hanging out with Melissa even though he didn't want to. WTH! Leslie had more balls than Emerson! There could have been so much more for these characters but the story just fell flat.
