“Remember you asked me once what my story is?”
I nodded.
“How do you feel about a late night tale that would make the Grimm brothers proud?” she answered, her face drawn with sadness.
I already knew it wasn’t a fairytale full of glitter and unicorns, but I had a feeling it was going to be worse than I first thought.
“I want to hear it, sweetheart.”
“I’m not sure you do, but I’ll tell you anyway.”
I pulled her to sit on the couch. When she would have curled up in the corner by herself, I drew her onto my lap instead. She tucked her head under my chin and began.
“Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Madelyn…”

Not being able to find a good enough book to read this year, I was checking the old releases and then I came across this book. First, its title drew me in, then the blurb.
As soon as I started the book, I knew it was going to be good. The writing lures you in the moment you take the book in your hands.
This is a different and beautifully told story of two “very broken” people. It is not safe for some readers and I have given safety details below; also, it is not a hearts and flowers light romance if you are looking for some fun only. But if you are in need of a good quality book with talented writing and a good story line that will give you all the feels, then, that’s it.
It has lots of tragedy in it but then there is hope, there is survival, there are second chances in life and love.
Although I never like cheesy fairy tales, I loved that this book turned a tragic life story into a fairy tale in the end in the best way possible. Oh God, what I wouldn’t give for a proposal like that!!! Sigh, swoon... sniff sniff …

Well, let me give you the safety information first so that you see if this book is for you or not, as it has some triggers in it.
1. Intimacy with OW
If you are one of those readers who hate it when the hero gets intimate with OW while having feelings for our heroine, then this book is not safe for you.
I didn’t have any problems with it; I understood why he did it and I moved on. But I know some readers may not be able to move on so I am just putting the info here.
I just wish no one would waste their chance of reading such a wonderful book just for this reason but we hate what we hate, it can’t be helped…
2. Dead ex
The hero has a dead ex. It has a terrible story behind it.
He couldn’t move on with his life for the past 5 years. He has casual sex with women but he never gets attached to any of them until our heroine.
He has promised “forever” to his wife and now he thinks he shouldn’t promise “forever” to another woman as it would taint his dead wife’s memory.
It takes him a long long time to get rid of his feelings of guilt and focus on the probability of a new love.
And when he finally gives in to his feelings for our heroine and gets rid of his feelings of guilt with the help of his family, he becomes very devoted to her and I believed in his love for our heroine.
There is no OW/OM drama after they start a relationship.
3. Virgin heroine
The hero is experienced whereas the heroine was a virgin. Although it is something I never prefer, I didn’t mind it here because she was in prison from ages 18 to 24.

PLOTLINE and CHARACTERS:
The heroine, Madelyn (Maddy) served 6 years behind bars for murdering a man. On the day she is released, her lawyer sends an attorney who works in his firm to get her from the prison and take her to her new home. This man happens to be our hero, Holt.
In fact, her lawyer is the husband of her favorite school teacher, who found out her situation this year and helped her to be released 2 years earlier for good behavior. She didn’t have this lawyer back then when she was being sentenced to 8 years.
The law firm Holt works for has started a new program and they are offering jobs and thus a second chance in life to people with a criminal record. They have not only offered Maddy a job but also arranged housing for her.
The day Holt and Maddy meet is not a good experience for either of them. He doesn’t want to do the task given to him and he has assumptions about her and she feels it. As she is not afraid of telling her mind, she gives him a good lesson. She is one sassy sweet girl and I adored her completely.
Sometimes the way she reacts, sometimes the things she says or the things she does slowly make Holt think that there is more to Maddy than her status as an ex-con and he slowly gets interested in her.
He sees she is kind of an enigma and starts to wonder what her real story is.
Madelyn starts to work in this law firm and earns nearly everyone’s love and praise in a short time.
Meanwhile, although Holt gets more and more interested in her and also feels attracted to her, he fights his attraction and feelings for a long while. That doesn’t mean he stays away from her. He becomes friends with her, he protects her but he is scared of opening his heart for a long while.
Some unfortunate things happen and Maddy’s life gets upside down once again. Holt feels he needs to protect this girl as he cannot risk losing her. He knows some people are out there trying to hurt her. While he is searching for who they might be, he opens his house to her for protection.
Madelyn has trust issues because she was betrayed by all the people that were supposed to love and protect her. That’s why, it takes a long time for her to trust Holt. She often assumes he betrayed her trust but slowly learns that he never will.
When things slowly change and finally, they become a couple, their broken hearts start to heal piece by piece.
I loved them as a couple and the family dynamics of Holt was awesome. I loved how close they were and how much they cared about and supported one another.

This book shows how one tragedy after another might ruin one’s life but there is always hope… you just need to have faith in it. I loved the whole thing.
It may sound sad but it really has its funny moments as well. When they become a couple they have some emotional and hot moments, too.
And the ending is just perfect. I loved how Holt proposed to her – and for the first time in my reading experience, I didn’t find such a fairy tale ending cheesy but so very emotional and romantic. It was what Maddy deserved all along and I was happy with the way she finally got it.
Also, there is an epilogue for 5 years later.

1. The book is very well written with a very good story line. It made me feel all sorts of feelings.
2. The book is written in dual point of view except for one chapter written by a third person in heroine’s life.

I paused and took a deep breath, cutting him off when he opened his mouth. "Believe me when I say there are far worse people out there than me. Trust me; I've met them."

"Being born isn't a bad thing, Madelyn."
"It was in my family," she muttered.

I couldn't help but admire how cute she looked in her large sweatshirt that slid sideways, exposing a creamy shoulder. Even though I could only see a white bra strap, I found it way more inviting than Michelle’s black bra earlier. It left me wanting to explore and discover what lay beneath Maddy’s shirt, rather than knowing ahead of time.
Remembering the woman I’d ditched earlier, I felt a pang of guilt. Not because I’d left her, or even because I’d basically used her, but because I was with her in the first place.

Long after she was asleep, I still held her, struggling to understand why this broken woman who had nothing but a felony to her name was somehow managing to restore the very piece of me I thought was irreparably beyond repair.
“That's quite a story, Holt. I...I still don't know what to say except that Claire was a lucky woman to have had you..."
So lost in retelling the story, I hadn't even realized I'd gotten up again and begun to pace my study again until I felt her press herself against me in a hug. Her gestures were full of comfort, acceptance, and sympathy all swirled together, all giving and no taking. I held on tight, soaking up whatever balm she was filling me with, and for the first time in a long time, my soul felt at rest.

"Why, Holt? Why shouldn't you want me? Because I'm not like Claire? Because I'm a felon? Say it, Holt," I demanded, taking a step closer. "Say I'm not good enough for you. You think I don't already know that? Because--"
My words ground to a halt when he whirled to face me, grabbed me by the shoulders, and spun me until I was against the wall. His face swooped toward mine, only to stop mere inches from mine. His breathing was ragged as if he was fighting for control. I didn't think I was breathing at all, holding my breath to see what he was going to do. To see if he would do what I wanted him to do.
"You're too good, Maddy, that's the problem," he rasped. "You deserve more than me, but fuck if I can stop.”
“I don’t want you to leave,” he barked. “My brother was right - you’re a sorceress who’s bewitched everyone in my family. My mother practically wants to adopt you. My brother and his wife think you’re a baby whisperer. My sister asked for your phone number so she can invite you to lunch. Hell, even my dog drools all over you, licking you everywhere and practically ignoring me, which he never does.”
“And what about you?” I challenged. Teased. Tempted.
“Me?” he whispered. “Hell, yeah. I want to lick you all over, too.”

Overall Opinion: This was an ok read. I didn't realize that we'd be dealing with the theme, so that threw me off a little. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I felt that the h was second best (because I didn't), but there was a lot of focus put on what had happened and that character that bothered me a little. I also had issues with the scene with the H and an OW. I'm usually one that will easily push those sort of things aside and not let them bother me, but this one did! I just don't understand why the author chose to put it in!! It could've easily been not included, as it didn't serve any purpose whatsoever except to tick off readers. Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Maddy and Holt's story. Maddy finds herself in prison for murdering a man, but she is chosen for a new program to get a second chance from a law firm in the form of a new job and apartment. Holt works at the firm and is sent to pick her up and take her to her new apartment when she gets out, and they bump heads immediately. They have a few more tense interactions, but eventually learn that they both had judged each other wrongly and they start a friendship of sorts. Of course, the friendship doesn't last long and they end up falling in love. Both of them have major past baggage to deal with, there are some sexy times, some cute family moments, a few dramatic elements...and then they get a HEA.
POV: This alternated between Maddy and Holt's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. I felt like it flowed well, and I never skimmed.
Instalove: No. They take some time to develop stronger feelings.
H rating: 3 stars. Holt. I thought he was ok. He ticked me off with the scene with the OW (see below spoiler), but he ended up redeeming himself (for the most part) once they got together and he was all about the h.
h rating: 4 stars. Maddy. I liked her. She was tough when she needed to be, loyal, and she also owned up to her mistakes.
Sadness level: Low/moderate. I personally didn't cry, but it does have some sad themes.
Push/Pull: Yes, but mild.
Heat level: Moderate. They have good chemistry and scenes.

Overall Opinion: This was an ok read. I didn't realize that we'd be dealing with the theme, so that threw me off a little. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I felt that the h was second best (because I didn't), but there was a lot of focus put on what had happened and that character that bothered me a little. I also had issues with the scene with the H and an OW. I'm usually one that will easily push those sort of things aside and not let them bother me, but this one did! I just don't understand why the author chose to put it in!! It could've easily been not included, as it didn't serve any purpose whatsoever except to tick off readers. This started off with great promise, I loved the blurb and the idea that SHE was the ex con and he was her knight in shining armour. Unfortunately towards the end it all got a bit cheesy which, given she had spent 6 years in jail for murdering a bloke, didn't really work with the whole theme.
Nothing puts me off more than the whole "Maddy you are an amazing person blah blah blah" speech, in fact it makes me cringe almost as much as when the bloke gets on bended knee to propose. And yep, I got the speech which for me tipped it into cheese overload territory.

This is our first book by M.E. Montgomery and we loved it and we’ll definitely be checking out other work by this author. We fell in love with her characters and her storytelling in this beautiful story about embracing life, self-discovery, seizing second chances and not letting your mistakes and guilt define you.
Yesterday’s Tomorrows opens with Madelyn (Maddy) murdering a man. The reasons behind her actions aren’t expanded upon immediately, leaving the reader to uncover Maddy’s story along with the hero of our story, Holten (Holt) Andrews. We then skip to Maddy being released from prison after completing her six year sentence, now 24, Maddy is ready to move on with her life and leave her mistakes, if that’s possible, behind her. This poor girl had certainly been dealt a crappy hand.
‘Funny how in my childhood I never realized just how many freedoms I enjoyed until every moment of my day became dictated to me.’
Holt Andrews, a former Marine, is now a partner at the Law Firm Maddy will be employed by, following her release from prison. Holt was made to revaluate his life and make some changes following an unexpected and heartbreaking turn of events. This guy is carrying around a bucket load of misplaced guilt he needs to work through and his story was indeed gut-wrenching.

Holt is entrusted with collecting Maddy from prison following her release and the two don’t exactly get off on the right foot. Maddy had a tendency to jump to conclusions, and Holt seemed to be continually putting his foot in his mouth, raising Maddy’s ire. There are some prickly interactions between the pair with Maddy assuming Holt is looking down at her due to her time in prison.
‘I guessed to him, meeting me was about the equivalent of being asked to take out the trash.’
Quite the contrary, Maddy intrigues Holt – he’s drawn to her tenacity and willingness to speak her mind. Maddy may seem meek on the outside but she’s had to learn to survive during her six years in prison and although not hardened, she can certainly hold her own.
“Stop thinking about what you aren’t and start focusing on what you are.”
“And what am I, Holt?”
“You’re the woman who blurred all the lines.”
Holt and Maddy complimented one another beautifully and Holts family were such a loving, warm and fun bunch. Their interactions, love and loyalty was the glue that held them together. We fell in love with our strong, dependable and protective hero, and Maddy our sweet yet strong heroine.
There were secrets and double crossing and we’d be inclined to describe Yesterday’s Tomorrows as a romantic suspense as there is mystery and danger surrounding the events that led to Maddy’s incarceration which we find out as the story progresses. Both Maddy and Holt had suffered in their own way and had a lot of walls to knock down in order to trust and open their hearts. Their story unfolded with heartfelt emotion, searing passion and a few surprises along the way!

I started reading this and couldn't put it down, great story. Madelyn Stone has had a rough life and at 24 she has been through more than people twice her age. She was raised on the wrong side of the tracks by an alcoholic father who eventually abandoned her and her sister, Charly. While trying desperately to get a scholarship and get away from her small town Maddy gets caught up in something that changes her life forever. And just when she needed her sister the most, Charly abandons her too.
Holten Andrews is a man who has had his own share of heartache after tragically losing his wife. He has locked his heart away but meeting Maddy just might change his mind about that. Two people from two different backgrounds, Maddy and Holt somehow find a way to trust each other and find a love that can heal them both. Five stars is not enough to rate this book. I am still reeling from the emotions I felt while reading this. I feel as though someone has delved into my soul and put it on paper. I do not personally know M. E. Montgomery but I feel as if she has known me my whole life. From the first page to the last, I was sucked in and refused to stop reading.
It's hard to read a book that hits on so many levels, to feel so exposed by someone else's words and I don't think I have ever related to a character like I have to Maddy. I want to refrain from using cliches because this book deserves better, but this is truly about second chances, the ones we receive and the ones we give ourselves. I love a book that gives me an opportunity to delve into the mind frame of the characters and live out an alternate reality, this actually helped me to start to let the past go instead. To begin a healing process that I did not know I needed.
This is the first book I have read by this author. I can guarantee it won't be my last. I know now that I should have a box of tissues next to me though.

3.5 stars! This started great and I loved anxiously waiting for them to get together but once they finally admitted their feelings i wasn't as bothered with what happened next! Which is a massive shame!

Yesterday’s Tomorrows is the first book I have read by M.E. Montgomery and it definitely will not be my last. From the prologue to the epilogue, I was invested in this story. It is about honesty, heartache, healing, forgiveness, trust, and learning to love again. It is a beautiful love story with an added element of suspense that made this story a well-rounded read.
Madelyn Stone grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and came from a broken family. Just when she thought things were looking up for her, she was put in a life changing situation. Maddy’s dreams of a better life were crushed the minute she pulled the trigger. This sweet, sassy, beautiful, shy woman accepted her fate, and when she is released after serving six years, she vows to never trust again.
Though Maddy has no family left, she is blessed to have the McCloskey’s in her life. Mrs. McCloskey was her former school teacher and when she found out about Maddy’s past, she had her lawyer husband look into things. When she is released, she is given a job, a place to stay, and a stipend through a new work-release program in Mr. McCloskey’s Law firm.
Holton Andrews is “Mr. Tall, Dark, and Moody,” and a gorgeous, confident, former marine. He has suffered a heartbreaking loss and is completely devastated. Commitment isn't his thing anymore and he is unwilling to open his heart to another woman. Even five years later his grief is very much alive.
Holt works at McCloskey’s law firm and is assigned the task of picking up Maddy upon her release. She is in a vulnerable position with fears that constantly surround her and she doesn’t trust anyone. She is trying hard to move on from her past but that seems almost impossible when she feels so alone.
There is a protective streak in Holt and he can not seem to stop thinking and worrying about Maddy. They learn to trust each other and find a glimmer of hope for a second chance at life and a second chance at love. Little did Holt know, the broken woman he picked up from prison would change his life completely.
Working as general service clerk at the law firm, Maddy learns how to live outside of the structure she'd become accustomed to over the past several years. She is hard-working, wants to make something of herself, and is well liked by most of the employees. It is clear that Maddy has a big heart and that she is wonderful and caring. It's not surprising that Holt would develop strong feelings for her.
I really enjoyed Yesterday’s Tomorrows. I loved Holt and Maddy and their relationship. I felt like it was believable and realistic. I loved how protective he was toward her and how he would do anything for her. I loved watching him get to know the real Maddy and his ability to tear her walls down. He supported her and didn’t care what others thought. Maddy burrowed herself into Holt and she lit something inside of him that was missing since his terrible loss.
I loved Maddy. She did what she needed to do and accepted the consequences. She wasn't bitter and hateful; she was confident and a little shy. She was thankful for the help she received and always put people first. She went through so much and my heart broke for all she endured. She was strong though and I am glad she fought for her happiness.
I also loved the secondary characters. The snippets about Maddy's grandmother made me smile. Even with her broken family, Maddy still had her grandmother’s love and the fond memories of them together. I loved that she drew on her granmother’s wisdom when she was feeling down.
I loved the McCloskey’s - the support, trust and loyalty they showed toward Maddy was heartwarming. They believed in her from the beginning and did so much for her. I also adored Holt's family and how much they loved Holt and how they openly welcomed Maddy into their lives without judgment.
Yesterday’s Tomorrow is not just a romance. There are twists, turns and suspense that added a nice element to this story. There were events I did not see coming and the mystery was enough to keep me guessing but was not over the top.
Overall, I enjoyed this entertaining, heartwarming story about love, loss, healing and forgiveness.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars i would. This is an amazing book about second chances. Both of the characters have had such a rough life and need to have a little happiness.
Madelyn Stone is being released from prison into a early release program. She has been given an amazing second chance to restart her life. Maddy never takes anything for granted. She is so excited to have this opportunity. Every time she starts to feel that she is finally over her struggles something else happens to her. Through the hard times she still has the most positive attitude.
Holten Andrews is a ex-marine turned lawyer. Holt has had his share of hard times and isn't in the mood to open up his heart to anyone except his family. Until he meets Maddy.
I can't rave enough about how much I loved this book. This book tugs on all the emotions one can have. I really wish there could be more books about this couple but that doesn't mean this book isn't complete. I just don't want this couple to end. Amazing standalone book!!

If I could give this book more than 5 stars i would. This is an amazing book about second chances. Both of the characters have had such a rough life and need to have a little happiness.
Madelyn Stone is being released from prison into a early release program. She has been given an amazing second chance to restart her life. Maddy never takes anything for granted. She is so excited to have this opportunity. Every time she starts to feel that she is finally over her struggles something else happens to her. Through the hard times she still has the most positive attitude.
Holten Andrews is a ex-marine turned lawyer. Holt has had his share of hard times and isn't in the mood to open up his heart to anyone except his family. Until he meets Maddy.
I can't rave enough about how much I loved this book. This book tugs on all the emotions one can have. I really wish there could be more books about this couple but that doesn't mean this book isn't complete. I just don't want this couple to end. Amazing standalone book!!

The prologue to this story had me riveted. The questions of what the hek is happening and why rolling through my mind. It instantly addicted me.
This is truly a unique and beautiful story. So many emotions and feelings are wrapped up in this roller coaster. Trying to put it into words is proving difficult. Shame I can't just say "you need this book in your life" as my review.
Im left smiling with a full heart and a sense of story contentment surrounding me. Well done to M.E Montgomery on creating such an gorgeous story.
The motions, feelings and trials Maddy goes through in her transition from inside to outside life is detailed and emotion charged. I felt like I was right there with her. Feeling what she felt. It was soul crushing at times, the fears and vulnerability were real.
"I started out the window. "You mean especially someone who would kill a man". My words were barley above a whisper, yet they echoed off the window and back at me as if confronting me, challenging me to deal with my real identity.
"Madelyn." His deep voice was tinged with exasperation. "Your projecting again, putting words in my mouth that weren't there."
I sighed. He was right. I'm not sure why I reacted this way to him. Maybe because he saw me at my most venerable - leaving prison alone where he, a stranger, had to step in because no one else cared enough to meet me"
There is a bit of repetition when it comes to Maddy's schooling, how it was for her at school, being the shy girl and not the fun girl boys liked. I get this is something that has a hand in shaping who she is now but it was only integral to her character development once.
Both Maddy and Holt have had life changing events impact them. They're both very broken but strong characters. Both needing someone to lean on and help them piece their lives back together.
The series of blows Maddy endures after getting out is poignant, but it was coming from somewhere. What was the full story? Why were these things happening? There's just so much more to the story then I would ever have expected.
"Meanwhile, Holt was bolting down the steps, only to stop when blue shirt swung us around and held his pistol to my temple. I heard the shrieks of women and shouts of men as the steps became abandoned, leaving only Holt on the stairs in front of me.
"Not another step" Blue shirt warned, "or your girlfriend bites it". Hold held his hands out. His eyes never wavering from the man holding the gun on me. "Okay, let's just calm down. Let her go."
"Not until she gives me the information we want"
We learn early on that what Holt as lived through is heart breaking, and we learn even more of his loss further in that brings it all back. A charming charismatic lawyer who's past is holding back his future. A man who once he discovers the person who will help fix his shattered heart knows how good it will be.
There's so much I want to say about this book but it would give so much away. It really is one that simply needs to be read for itself.

Review: This was such an amazing and heart-touching story about second chances!The book focuses on Maddy who is being released from prison early.She has also been given a job,an apartment and a new start as a part of a new work-release program at Mr.McCloskey's law firm.Mrs.McCloskey used to be one of Maddy's favorite teachers and once she came to know about Maddy's status she ended up helping her.Though we know that Maddy had murdered someone we don't know why she did it.
On the day of her release, she is picked up from the prison by Holt, who is quite rude and condescending to her in the beginning. Maddy with her sass and wit gives back as much as she gets.
Holt used to be in the Marines and was planning to marry his longtime girlfriend-Claire.But, on the day of their wedding, tragedy struck and he lost her.Even after five years he hasn't been able to move on from that.The guilt eats at him and he doesn't form lasting relationships with any woman.
Though, each of the main characters are plagued with insecurities and lock horns at every turn in the beginning, they are attracted to each other.They form a connection that evolves into a beautiful friendship and something more.But, it looks like someone is targeting Maddy and her life may be in danger.So, will these two get to keep their second chance at happiness?Read Yesterday's Tomorrows to find out!
I love how the author has described the characters so beautifully.They have many facets and you can't help but sympathize with them.Even convicted felons are human beings and deserve to be treated with respect.One never knows the other's difficulties till we have lived their lives, so making snap judgments about them isn't great.Maddy was a beautiful combination of wit,sass and sweetness.Her loyalty was refreshing.Holt complemented her perfectly.Holt's family was also really great.You can see the amount of hardwork that the author has put into developing the characters and the storyline.
Even though we didn't get to see much of Charly, I'm happy with her actions in the end.The epilogue was super cute!I also loved the conversation that Maddy has with Holt's nephew about his dad who is a Navy officer.In conclusion, this was a really amazing story with wonderful characters!You should definitely give it a try! :D

I loved it.
h was amazing—considering everything she went through, I honestly wouldn’t have expected her to be so forgiving.
H was good too. I appreciated that he genuinely grieved his wife, but I’m glad the story didn’t make the heroine feel like a second choice. He struck a good balance.
The arc with her sister didn’t sit right with me. Nothing can really excuse what her sister did, and the attempt to put a positive spin on it later just didn’t work for me.
The epilogue? Loved it.

4.5 stars. I hate when the dialogue suddenly becomes cringey and cheesy and that’s exactly what happened here, otherwise this would have gotten a full 5 stars!

It was an okay read but I did have to force myself to read this otherwise It would have been in the DNF column. That’s not me hating on the book I just struggled to find the connection with the characters and the storyline was not the vibe for me. Mehhh

Mmmmm where to start with this gorgeous book about two broken people who don’t think they need fixing at all but clearly do. I was just willing them to get their act together as you can see from the beginning that they should be together but I’m not spoiling the book by telling you either way.
Maddy Stone was left shattered when she was left to serve a jail sentence for a crime that was born out of love and protection for the family that betrayed her. 6 years later and she has no family and trusts no one; especially not the tall dark and handsome stranger that has come to claim her on release day.
Holt Andrews had his life turned upside down when his career as a Marine and his plan to marry the woman of his dreams all ended in tragedy. A change in career and lifestyle leads Holt to vowing never to blur the lines of his categories for women until he meets Maddy and her wild hair and mesmerising eyes.
Drawn to each other in a way they cannot explain and with Holt’s precious lines blurring, can the two learn from their pasts and fix each other like everyone around them knows they can??
I really did adore this book. I felt instantly for the loss and betrayal that Maddy experienced in the prologue and my heart ached for Holt when the truth was revealed about his own tragedies. They clearly are two lost souls that are destined to be together but will they? I can’t say too much without giving the story away and I urge you all to read this book. I cannot recommend it enough. There are some genuine laugh out loud moments with Maddy’s inner thoughts which had me creased with laughter and reaching for the tissues in a good way. (Cows and AstroTurf spring to mine – read and you will understand). I’ve not read this author's work before and if all her books are as witty, charming and exceptionally well written as this then I shall be one clicking ASAP.

Amé a Maddy, la historia de su vida fue desgarradora y dolorosa pero me encantó como pudo florecer después de todo lo malo que le habia pasado, ella decidió que era hora de tener un mejor futuro, lo merecía y trabajó duro por obtenerlo🫶🏻
A Holten, al principio quería golpearlo por ser prejuicioso y juzgar a Maddy pero terminé amándolo y es que tengo una completa debilidad por los héroes protectores, amables, amorosos, serviciales y sexys así que no se me hizo complicado pasar por alto la primera mala impresión🤭🥹 Solo me frustró un poquito su resistencia en dejar entrar a Maddy pero lo comprendí al 100% no me imagino lo difícil que debe ser perder a la persona que pensabas que sería tu compañera por el resto de tu vida. Solo de pensar en perder a mi esposo me dan ganas de llorar y no me imagino amando a nadie más por un buen tiempo, así que si también le perdono eso.
Creo que esto es lo que más me hizo adorar esta historia y sus personajes, son reales, están rotos, son imperfectos, buscan la felicidad en medio del caos, se caen, se levantan, cometen errores, tienen cicatrices, miedos y traumas por superar como cualquier otra persona.
Devoré esta historia en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, la mayor parte la disfruté pero ese final lo sentí apresurado y sin sentido, además hubieron algunas cosas que sucedieron a las cuales no se les dió un cierre y en mi opinión eso le resto un poco pero aún así fue una lectura bastante agradable. Hay un epílogo 5 años después y fue maravilloso leer como siguen siendo felices y pudieron formar una hermosa familia♥️

Everyone deserves a second chance stars
I was totally swept away with Maddy's story, her back story was heartfelt and her ability to push her shoulders back and move on was heartwarming.
Holt's own backstory was also heartbreaking and heartwarming. You could say both Maddy and Holt have found their perfect match and stars aligned at the right time.
M.E Montgomery has written a beautiful and moving story that captivates the heart and
imagination.
Holt is a man who is finding it difficult and not wanting to move on from his past after the death of his wife and Maddy is a woman who wants to move on from her past and start again.
"And what am I Holt" "You're the woman who blurred all the lines"
He moved our joined hand to his chest and flattened my fingers under his, trapping them against his heart. "Do you feel that Maddy? I feel like it's started beating again. You did that"
There's twists and turns, swoon worthy,hot and heartwarming moments and everything a contemporary romance story should convey.
My first book by this author and it won't be my last.

Yesterday’s Tomorrows was my first taste of M.E. Montgomery and her writing style and I was very excited when an ARC popped up on my Kindle. The book is a contemporary romance focused on two struggling individuals that need to accept the hand of life they’ve been dealt and learn to power through their past.
Our heroin, Madelyn Stone, or Maddy as everyone calls her, has just been released from prison after serving six years behind bars for a haunting crime. My first thought when reading Maddy’s character development was, “There’s no way in hell she committed the crime she did.” Maddy is a strong, soft-spoken, straight to the point, no-nonsense type of girl. Every action and every choice she makes is thoroughly thought out and has meaning behind it. No free will, willy-nilly spontaneous decisions from her.
The first person she encounters after leaving prison is none other than Holten Andrews, the former Marine turned lawyer and hero of this story. After an awkward first encounter, Holt escorts Maddy to her new apartment so she can begin her new life working at the law firm Holt is also employed with.
The one thing I really enjoyed about the characters in this book is that they each had their own baggage and craptastic history. We know from reading the synopsis that Maddy and Holt had unexpected circumstances occur in their past but once we dove deeper into the story, more facts and details came to the surface which really made you understand how heartbreaking, emotional, and painful these acts were. It’s clear that the emotional effects of heartbreak cause more damage than anything.
“Look in the mirror, Ms. Stone, and decide who’s looking back at you before you complain about how other people see you.”
In a sense, Maddy and Holt rely on each other to break through the emotional barriers holding them back from living a fulfilling life. Forgiveness is a tough pill to swallow but acceptance is an effective alternative.
“Stop thinking about what you aren’t, and start focusing on what you are.”
“And what am I, Holt?”
“You’re the woman who blurred all the lines.”
My only complaint (very minor) is there were too many targets on Maddy’s back. I understood to an extent, given her complicated history, but incident after incident after incident kept occurring and I found myself rolling my eyes a time or two when something else came at her. Regardless, power to Maddy for taking each hit and fighting back like the tough cookie she is. If prison couldn’t break her, I don’t think anything will.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last.
I was immediately drawn in to this story. It’s a story about heartache, healing, trust, forgiveness, self-discovery, and learning to love. There was an unexpected element of suspense that kept me at the edge of my seat. Both Maddy and Holt have had a tough life, and had many obstacles to overcome in order to trust and open their hearts. This was not just a romance. There are twists and turns that keep you guessing. It’s heartfelt and emotional. There are moments that will have your heart breaking for the characters and others that will have you smiling so big.
Overall this was a fantastic story about healing, love, and second chances.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last.
I was immediately drawn in to this story. It’s a story about heartache, healing, trust, forgiveness, self-discovery, and learning to love. There was an unexpected element of suspense that kept me at the edge of my seat. Both Maddy and Holt have had a tough life, and had many obstacles to overcome in order to trust and open their hearts. This was not just a romance. There are twists and turns that keep you guessing. It’s heartfelt and emotional. There are moments that will have your heart breaking for the characters and others that will have you smiling so big.
Overall this was a fantastic story about healing, love, and second chances.

What a book! I'm still having a hangover from it and it's been 2 days since I read it. Ahhhh it's so good. It's a different storyline then I've ever read and what a storyline it is.
Maddy and Holt take us on a rollercoaster of emotions. Maddy is starting over so to say and Holt Andrews was the only one to help her on her first day out. What he wasn't expecting was for Maddy, a newly released felon to stir something inside of him that had been closed off for around 5 years. He tries to push the feelings away but Madelyn Stone doesn't make it easy. His family is awful pushy about him trying again but Holt doesn't think they are right.
Maddy Stone is trying to start her life over again after 6 yrs of being in prison. A crime that could of been justified had someone who was there fled and stayed away. Starting over alone and free Maddy is determined to come out on top. A new place, new job and friends she never thought she would have.
As the story progresses there are many surprises in store for them both. Come and read this to find out how the story ends. Will Maddy and Holt finally be free of their past or will the past always stay in the future?
I have loved all of M.E. Montgomery books but this one is my favorite of them all. She truly had me from beginning to the very end.

I first discovered M.E. Montgomery a few months ago. Having fallen in love with her Polaris Series, I couldn't wait to dive into Yesterday's Tomorrow's. She completely blew me away with this story. This book delivers it all, suspense, loss, pain, romance and hope. It begins with Maddy's release from prison. She's paid a debt she didn't deserve to pay. I absolutely adored Maddy. She has to be one of my favorite heroine's ever. No matter the obstacles before her she remains strong and positive. Like us all though, she can have her moments of doubt and weakness.
Ex-Marine and current lawyer Holt Andrews is sent to pick Maddy up from prison. From the moment these two meet sparks fly, good and bad. A relationship is the last thing these two both want. Maddy is trying to restart her life and Holt is living day by day still consumed by a horrific tragedy. When Maddy's safety is threatened she moves in with Holt. These two begin to see each other in different lights. Lines will be crossed and the feelings blurred.
I guarantee you will be on the edge of your seat in this one. You will laugh, swoon, cry and then rejoice while reading Yesterday's Tomorrow's. There is so many twist and turns, ups and downs. In the end though, you'll be left with a huge smile on your face just like mine. I'm so happy to have found another amazing author to add to my go to list.

Yesterday's Tomorrow is ME Montgomery's newest novel (and the first I've read from her). I LOVED this book.
Maddy was dealt a crap hand in life. From the death of her mother, to her craptastic father, to her no good sister. She had a grandmother that adored her but old age got the best of her and Maddy was left alone (for all intents and purposes) again. Poor decisions lead to Maddy spending 6 years of her life in jail.
The book starts with Maddy getting out of prison and beginning a new work placement program sponsored by the husband of one of Maddy's elementary school teachers.
Holt has had a rough few years. It takes a while to learn fully what happened with Holt but as the story goes on we learn his past and all I can say is that my heart absolutely broke for him.
Can Maddy and Holt help each other heal? Can Yesterday's Tomorrows be today's good days? This book is about healing, perseverance, strength, forgiveness, and love. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author!

This could have been so much more than what it was. The ex con storyline was so promisng yet so wasted here. The author did such a bad job creating everthing. I really didn’t enjoy the characters either. Our herione is simply a rare of sunshine but somehow murdered a man. The story of that crime was just really stupid to me. Why not call 911 first and then go jump in with a gun you were so sure was empty? It also really bothered me how she kept comparing herself to Claire and was constantly jealous of a dead woman. She verbalized it many times and it just felt really uncomfortable and insensitive for the profile of her character. Our hero was not any diffrent for me. Couldn’t find anything to love or hate. Really really hated how he kept calling her “sweetheart” but I know that’s just me.
