Rate this book
Day-by-day account of a Waffen SS battle group during a pivotal World War II battle Groundbreaking you-are-there approach integrates eyewitness reports, maps, period and modern photos, orders of battle, and thumbnail profiles of men and tanks Reconsideration of the Malmedy Massacre On December 16, 1944, Hitler's last great offensive of World War II commenced, pushing through the Ardennes in an attempt to reach the Meuse River and, beyond it, the Allies' supply ports. Equipped with Tiger tanks, Kampfgruppe Peiper, Germany's most powerful battle group, spearheaded the offensive but failed to reach the Meuse. Using a wide variety of sources, the authors tell the story of Kampfgruppe Peiper in unprecedented detail, from the first day of the invasion through the group's retreat on Christmas Day.

A decent summary with good maps.

A lack of references and first-hand sources kept this from being a great history book.

Good for an introduction to the subject but not much more.

Everything you would want to know about this battlegroup at the Bulge. Good detail and worth your time if this narrow focus is what you are looking for.

Very detailed account of the Battle of the Bulge. Plenty of maps and personal stories from soldiers on both sides. Good historical reference.
