See me in the tux between the redhead with the deep-V dress and the topless blonde? The guy holding the pomegranate mojito? That's me, Simon Coffe, owner of Hideaway Cove in Sorendi Isle. The party kicks ass, people are having a great time, and I’ve got my sights set on this classy Asian beauty across the pool.
But then, my assistant informs me that an environmentalist has arrived to shut down my swim-with-the-dolphins attraction. A woman named Jia Whitaker, determined to hate me. And, oh yeah, it's the classy Asian beauty across the pool. The one I was about to hit on.
The second book in the Surrender Isle series by Havana Scott did not disappoint. This is Simon Caffe's story - the playboy owner of Hideaway Cove. Simon's the time for a different girl every night, not one to settle down . . . until Jia arrives on his island! Jia is there at her mother's behest to shut down Simon's soon-to-open dolphin experience. Jia is a marine biologist doing her own research, but has to succumb to Mom's wishes and be the representative to convince Hideaway Cove's owner that a dolphin encounter is unfair to the dolphins. Her friends convince her to enjoy herself a little bit while she's there, and she does . . . only to discover the morning after that her nameless hottie fling is Simon!
This is a nice romance novel, and the thing I like best about the Surrender Isle series so far is the intelligence level of the heroines. In the first book, Paris was a writer, in this book, Jia is a marine biologist. And Havana Scott seems to have done some strong research to convincingly construct this character and her knowledge of cetaceans. Even the dolphins in the book were well defined as characters. There is enough conflict to keep moving the story forward and, as I require in my romance reading, a happily satisfying ending. Well worth the read. Bring on book three!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and The Surrender Isle series came through again with a trip to Hideaway Cove! It's hard to do the job you're supposed to do when it's one of the last things on your mind - and with the chemistry between Jia and Simon - I would have forgotten my assignment too. I really enjoyed how an environmental aspect was woven through the story, that gave us more to think about than all the steamy interludes - although I'm a fan of those too!!! Havana Scott captures the beauty of Caribbean island resorts perfectly, and I can't wait to see what's in store for us on her next adventure! But in the meantime, I'll sit back, sip my mojito, and dream about turquoise waters, white sand beaches, palm trees rustling in the breeze, and the cabana man I'm sure is waiting for me!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my word...LOVE!!! First of all, the names alone, Jia and Simon. Could they be any sexier?! Then you describe them. A gorgeous, cocky billionaire and a stunningly beautiful, intelligent, strong woman who's got a heart of gold, and you've got one of the best romance novels I've read lately. I thought book #1 was amazing, but book 2 just amped it up a notch. I love how Havana Scott seems to work some great life lessons in to her books. This book teaches us all about being passionate about what you believe in, but always keep an open mind and be willing to compromise.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys strong characters with amazingly HOT chemistry!!! Can't wait to see what's next for Paradise Isle
The Surrender Isle Hideaway Cove- Resort 2 **I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ** This is the continuing story from Havana Scotts, Surrender Isle Paradise Bay- Resort 1. I highly recommend reading that first. The story goes back and forth between Jia Whitaker and Simon Coffe. Jia works at Sarasota Marine Mammal Research Center. She rehabs dolphins and whales who are hurt and learns about their behavior. She gets an order from her mother, Patricia Ocampo, who is ahead of Marine Forever Organization. They are always on the lookout for new swim-with-the-dolphin programs to shut down. The organization shuts down the attractions because dolphins are cooped up in a tank when they are used to swimming hundreds a miles a day. Patricia orders her daughter to go to a popular tourist attraction, in the French Indies, Surrender Isle Hideaway Cove, to shut it down their dolphin attraction which is soon to be opened. Simon is the owner of Hideaway Cove. He attends a party at his own resort. Jia who just arrived there looks for the owner to have a meeting as soon as possible. She wanted to get it shut down so she can head back to Sarasota to finish her work. She so happens to meet him there not knowing who each other were. They have sexual interaction that night. They finally discover who is who the next morning, making everything very difficult. If you want to find out more, READ IT!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! I LOVED THIS SECOND BOOK!! 5 STARS!!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review, and I am one happy reader...and a HUGE fan of Havana Scott!!! Jia Whitaker steals Simon's playboy heart while giving him a conscience and educating him (and us) about the misconceptions/needs/behaviors of the bottle-nosed dolphin. Learning to stand-up for & express their opposing beliefs respectfully allows these 2 characters to explore/develop their exciting new relationship. It takes a talented author to be able to successfully raise awareness about a world-wide environmental issue while simultaneously taking the reader on an enticing romantic journey. Ms. Scott nails it! Next stop: I'm going on a Pleasure Cruise!!!
