helpful,
tried the technique mentioned in the book the other day. Felt kinda bummed so I imagined myself as a child feeling bummed and my adult self as the person who would console that child, realized I never consoled myself when I was sad, depressed, afraid I just got mad at myself or others for feeling that way or I would fall into a negative feedback loop. instead I held my child self and consoled it as my own parent. felt great after and continued to feel good and be more confident throughout the day :) thanks Ms.Swan

I just watched a YouTube video in which she claims to have been an Shirdi Sai Baba, a great Hindu saint, incarnation of pure consciousness, a divine Avatar, a Paramahamsa from India in her past life. She is completely off her rocker! Just watch her videos, you will clearly see she is not enlightened and not anywhere at the level she claims to be. She also stole the "Completion Process" from The Avatar of our time, Paramahamsa Nithyananda. He is the most watched guru on YouTube and followed by millions. She has the audacity to claim this technique as her's and not site the source. The way she presents it is dangerous, some of her followers I have heard have committed suicide! What kind of spiritual guide leads people to commit suicide? Please save yourself the harm and suffering that this book can cause you and let's ban this book

Aimed at healing those with buried emotional trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),Teal Swan has compiled her Inner Child healing techniques and teachings into 18 steps called the Completion Process.

The mechanics of trauma and emotional fractures are well explained as Teal leads the reader on a journey self- discovery and restoration of wellbeing. The information in this book is helpful and clear. I intend to make use of it myself as well as recommend it to others.

The Completion Process may be done on your own or you may choose to have trusted friend guide you through. In some cases, Teal recommends that this process be led by a Completion Process Certified Practitioner (CPCP). Information on finding a practitioner in your area or becoming a practitioner yourself can be found at www.thecompletionprocess.com

This was a difficult book for me to read. I actually stopped in the middle because I was so mad, then came back to it later and finished it up. On one hand Teal Swan has good ideas and the ideas within her process are feasible. On the other hand she is not a licensed therapist and I feel scared for some of the people she treats. It is not apparent that she has mal-practice insurance as she is not licensed. The techniques she uses are advanced therapeutic methods, some of which she likely gleaned from the therapists that she claims did not help her during her own personal therapy. It is notable that Ms. Swan has been through some grave mental trials and her voice clearly demonstrates her time as a victim and her anger at receiving therapy she believes did not work. Therefore, it appears that she developed her own Completion Process, developed some form of certification for this process and has trained many individuals how to use this process and train others to use it. Likely without mal-practice insurance. It is not apparent anyone could sue her if they ensued harm from using this process. The process itself has good components. My hackles only rise because integration is a critical mental health process that could cause more harm than good if administered by untrained individuals. Working with fractured parts of the human mind is better left to trained psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists. I'm not sure why Ms. Swan has not engaged in higher education herself, it is obvious she could manage it. Never the less, as one trained in mental health, I would advise for individuals to err on the side of caution when attempting these methods.

I'm on an obsessive kick with Teal Swan's videos and this is my first book by her. I find that she expertly parses down abstract emotional processes into digestible, brilliant nuggets of insight. It's very hard to succinctly and eloquently explain such complex subject matter simply and I think she's wonderfully articulate, emotionally intelligent, and clairvoyant. That said, I loved the first part of the book establishing context for The Completion Process but reading about the actual Completion Process itself felt a little hazy and confusing and well, incomplete to me. I think it's the sort of thing you have to read about, then try it, and then read about it again though. The gist of it is in her YouTube videos and well laid out; I may be dubious and resistant because it's so confrontational and "magical" in that new agey way that I'm attracted to but often feels inaccessible.

My, Oh, my, I've got no excuses not to heal, this process had proven its efficiency in my day to day life and provoked so much undelt with pain, this is a stepping stone towards becoming whole again, this is a stepping stone towards greater peace and greater connection with myself. The message of Teal Swan is so clear and precise, in her book she literally made her healing process so simple that anybody can grasp and start to apply, she is definitely changing the planet for the better and we are definitely changing the planet for the better as well by changing ourselves and breaking the cycle of years of overlooked trauma..
I was so stunned by so many realizations and insights while applying the completion process..One of my suprises for exemple during the inner child work was discovering that the reason I felt resistant towards kids and didn't relate to them is because I was resistant to my own inner child and didn't relate to it, I avoided interacting with kids because I avoided interacting with my own inner kid, hence the realization that without understanding the kid within we would have no chance to understand our future kids or the kids without (this is dangerous! because it means that by not healing our own traumas, we risk passing our traumas to our own future kids if we ever had any someday), so it is not only a process for the individual, it is a process for the collective and for the generations that will come through us.
Healing improved the intimacy in my relationships, healing will improve the quality of the lineage of my family, healing makes you kinder with yourself, healing put you back together and you suddenly remember parts of yourself that you have forgotten all along, healing also give you the courage to walk fiercely towards pain instead of continuing to avoid it or escape from it , because once you know that you have a tool and that in the same way this tool has been handed to you other tools would come into your reality, you just get reassured that you would find light at the end of the tunnel so you walk fiercely through it.
This is a method amongst millions of methods, and still another millions of methods yet to come through us, the road back home/the road back to ourselves is closer than we think, Healing isn't impossible, we can heal at any time, whenever we are, whatever the situation is, one only should ask and it is given, I've ASKED for healing and I was bound to RECIEVE it, I invite you to ask too!

I started reading this last week and resonated with a lot of what Teal says. However, the writing and concepts seemed eerily familiar to “The Presence Process” by Michael Brown. At first, I dismissed it because as someone who reads a lot of books about emotional integration and spirituality, there is always going to be a bit of overlap. No big deal. However, the more I progressed, the worse it got. I eventually had to put the book down to see if I was crazy or if there was some validity about my concerns. It turns out, I wasn’t the first person to notice the “similarities” and “rephrasing of paragraphs”. If this book helps someone, I’m glad but it’s not for me.

This whole process is a copying of Swami Nithyananda teachings. Look it up on Youtube. Hay house needs to have a better judgement before letting something like this be published.

I love Teal Swan - she is one of the few I've found in my search for knowledge on emotions who really understands what's going on here. She is at the top of a very new wave of knowledge; a true leader on the front lines - pulling our species out of an emotional dark age. When others would advise suppressing our true feelings in an effort to manifest only positive things in our lives, she knows that's BS. She knows the only way out is THROUGH our feelings. She doesn't just trim the weeds - she pulls them out by the roots.

"Stop trying to feel better, instead become better at feeling."

During the course of this book I practiced her method, and did achieve a breakthrough. Sometimes I get a heartache feeling without really knowing why; it's easily triggered. When it happened, I laid down and was present with the feeling. I decided to go into it fully. After a little while, I received a glimpse of a memory I had long forgotten. It was me, age 6, looking up at the sky during my grandfather's funeral. It was also the day my heart was utterly shattered. I had forgotten this, and I certainly never fully processed it. After letting myself actually grieve this experience, I notice my chest feels fuller. It's as if a thorn has been removed from my heart.

I've experienced this on my own before through the use of lucid dreaming (not with the method, but the same concepts) and was able to make a dramatic difference in my personality through the healing of toxic shame from prior abuse. Since then, I no longer feel the emotion "shame" the same way. I only feel a whiff. AND, I no longer hide my true self, rather, I am living as authentically as I possibly can.

It really works.

The only criticism (hopefully constructive) I can offer is that the last 1/3 of the book is too infomercial like (it is NOT needed, the material can stand without the examples of success, and would feel less pushed).

I was very skeptical going into this especially because I had read the controversy that surrounds the author but I am on a journey to heal from my ptsd so I decided to read it anyway. Some of the first skills she teaches for dealing with emotion are the same as the ones I learned about in DBT (a widely acclaimed form of therapy) which made me trust this author more. And then once I created my safe haven, a concept she teaches you in the book, I felt more at ease. I'm gonna practice the completion process today but this book made me feel hopeful for the first time in my life. My therapist has been tracking the feeling of hopelessness in me for a while now, I'll be pleased to tell her that finally I feel hope. Thank you Teal Swan, I have high hopes for how this completion process will affect my healing journey.

Generally, psychiatric treatments around the world need an upgrade from 'taking depressants for the rest of your life' to 'let's actually heal this person'. And yes, Teal Swan has strange-weird-crazy opinions and spiritual believes which can not be concidered scientific, but the completion process is something that the future mental health may be based on.

Similar to Hellinger's systemic constellations, it can deal and heal the traumas which a conventional therapist will probably try to deal with for years. Or will she? And charge for it for years, because let's be honest, no progress in a patient is good holiday money for a therapist.

What Bert Hellinger said about constellations may one apply to the completion process: I can't explain it, but it works.

I read this book with the intent to use the information to help myself with a food addiction I have. I found plenty of useful information and found the book to be very applicable. The author provided many examples at the end of the book of different people who had a myriad of struggles and how they used the process to heal.

If you are looking for a book that can help you identify parts of you that need healing this is a great book to help you with that journey.

To rate a Teal Swan book with less than five stars? Never gonna happen!

I was never attracted to the concept of an inner child and haven't been much of an advocate of shadow work, but Teal has convinced me otherwise. I'll give it try and hopefully benefit from it. I feel this book is a great gift to humanity.

An alternative therapy method of emotional healing, based on the assumption that trauma fragments our consciousness and different aspects of ourselves become dissociated. Her method consists of retrieving these rejected aspects through a guided technique following a few steps, first of all acknowledging and accepting these emotions, then diving straight in and reliving them from a place of confidence and finally inner child work until transformation and integration of these fragments.

Definitely something to try out alongside classic, certified psychotherapy.

“Forgiveness cannot be forced. Nor should it even be a goal. You cannot, in fact, make up your mind to forgive someone. Forgiveness is the organic result of healing.”

Update:
After practicing the completion process with myself and clients i found some limitations in doing it.
After 2 years of using it as my main healing method i released that most of the healing coming from being present with the emotions and not necessarily from following the steps.
In fact the steps are unnecessary and can be destructive.

Later i learned about IFS internal family system.

I found that the completion process is almost identical to the IFS process and was really disappointed that teal copied the methods without giving any reference to the well known ifs therapy.

I found IFS more coherence and can give a deep healing and spiritual understanding to oneself.

A smooth read that guides you through 18 steps on how to transform past trauma's and improve your ability to feel. This is written by someone who has suffered a lot and learned how to overcome those trauma's by owning their shame. To feel is to be healthy. I haven't gone through this books steps in practice quite yet, but it helped me to understand how these kind of spiritual leaders do trauma work.

Must read if you or a loved one suffers from PTSD.

I'm grateful that I can now begin to be truly happy, at 60. I recommend this book to all, especially Native Americans. We've seen more than our fair share of shit. Many of our traumas rise to the level of Ptsd. There is way to be whole again. Trust Teal. Hoka hey. Night Horse.

i find the concepts fascinating. i don't believe in souls, whatever the form, anthropomorphic or stream or energy. yet i dislike more the adoption of the freudian system of beliefs than the talk about souls and energy.

Teal Swan, a spiritual teacher and author, has developed a personal development process known as "The Completion Process." This method is designed to help individuals heal from past trauma and emotional pain by addressing and integrating unresolved experiences from their past. The Completion Process involves several steps, each aimed at guiding individuals through their emotions and memories to achieve emotional release and healing. Here's a detailed summary of the process:

1. Trigger Identification

Recognize a Trigger: The process begins by identifying a trigger, which is any emotional reaction that seems disproportionate to the current situation. This trigger often points to an unresolved trauma from the past.
Acknowledge Emotions: Once the trigger is identified, individuals are encouraged to fully acknowledge and feel their emotions without suppressing them.

2. Emotional Validation

Sit with Emotions: Instead of avoiding or denying emotions, the individual sits with them and allows themselves to fully experience the emotional state.
Validate the Experience: It's crucial to validate that these feelings are real and important, even if they are uncomfortable.

3. Locate the Memory

Follow the Emotion: The individual then traces the emotion back to its origin by asking when they first felt this way. This often leads to a specific childhood memory where similar emotions were experienced.
Identify the Memory: The aim is to identify the earliest and most intense memory associated with the current emotion.

4. Re-experience the Memory

Relive the Memory: The individual allows themselves to fully relive the memory, immersing in the sights, sounds, and feelings of the past event.
Stay Present: Staying present in the memory helps in understanding and feeling the full impact of the experience.

5. Meet the Inner Child

Visualize the Inner Child: In the memory, the individual visualizes their younger self who experienced the trauma or emotional pain.
Communicate with the Inner Child: They then engage in a dialogue with this inner child, providing the comfort, understanding, and support that was lacking at the time.

6. Provide Rescue

Rescue the Inner Child: The individual imagines rescuing their inner child from the traumatic situation, providing what they needed at that moment, such as love, safety, or protection.
Create a Safe Space: They create a safe and nurturing environment for the inner child, where they can heal and feel secure.

7. Integration

Reintegrate the Experience: The individual integrates the emotions and experiences of the inner child into their adult self, understanding that these past experiences no longer control their current reality.
Emotional Release: This step often involves a significant emotional release, as the unresolved trauma is acknowledged and healed.

8. Closure

Closure Ritual: A closure ritual or activity may be performed to symbolize the completion of the healing process, such as journaling, meditation, or a symbolic gesture.
Return to Present: The individual gradually returns to the present moment, bringing with them the healing and insights gained from the process.

9. Ongoing Practice

Continual Application: The Completion Process is not a one-time event but a practice that can be applied whenever new triggers or unresolved emotions surface.
Support System: Building a support system, whether through professional therapy, support groups, or trusted friends, can enhance the effectiveness of the process.

Benefits of the Completion Process

Emotional Healing: By addressing and integrating past traumas, individuals can experience significant emotional healing and relief from ongoing distress.
Self-awareness: The process increases self-awareness and understanding of one's emotional triggers and responses.
Empowerment: It empowers individuals to take control of their healing journey, fostering a sense of self-compassion and resilience.

The Completion Process is a structured yet flexible approach to emotional healing, encouraging individuals to confront and integrate their past experiences in a supportive and empathetic manner.

In "The Completion Process," Teal Swan offers a profound exploration of healing through emotional integration. Her approach invites readers to confront unresolved traumas with compassion and mindfulness. Swan's blend of personal anecdotes and practical techniques creates an accessible pathway for those seeking solace. I found her insights to be both illuminating and transformative, emphasizing the importance of embracing vulnerability. The process she outlines encourages a deeper understanding of oneself, prompting reflection on the power of our inner narratives. This book is a valuable resource for anyone on a journey of self-discovery and emotional healing.
