Ana Santini woke up with pain radiating through her body and the strangest feeling like she was in a dream world. There was a man sitting on her bed looking at her with such a warm smile. There was just one problem…she didn’t know who she was. It took several months for her memory to begin to come back. By then she’d already fallen madly in love with her rescuer. Remembering what happened before she was saved, she begged Will to protect her. Fear engulfed her when she understood her husband was searching for her. Clinging to her hero, she hid from her husband. He tried to kill her, there was no way she could be found. She’d be dead within a day. William Cline knew it was wrong to fall in love with Ana, but she’s wormed her way into his heart from the moment he saw her from across the road. Accidentally coming across her body trapped under a log with rushing waters all around, it was all he could do to bring her home. Realizing her accident wasn’t an accident from her injuries, he and his family along with the town doctor kept her presence a secret. Her husband was a dangerous man with a great deal of power who was trying to do all he could to find his "runaway" wife. There was no way he could let that happen. Learning that her husband claimed abandonment, and got a divorce, William claimed the woman he loved. The only thing that scared them was that her ex-husband might still have eyes on her. What would he do to keep her safe? to make her his?
Sigh. I keep reading this author because I really enjoyed some of her earlier books, but lately they've just been OK for me.
Again we have some juvenile dialogue, and really immature acting people. The dudes in this book were all a WEE bit on the trigger happy side "Can we shoot Boss, Huh huh?? Can we shoot 'em??" and the hero got injured by a bull making him unable to get a full erection, but ONE look at the heroine and he was miraculously cured.
Then, even though EVERYONE knew the husband tossed her off a cliff, The hero still thinks thoughts like this "Perhaps the husband would leave the area if he couldn't find her" WELL, since it was the HUSBAND who tossed her ass off the cliff to begin with, not entirely sure he is looking all that hard for her. The whole "married to the BAD BAD Mafia king" made not a lick of sense either. Why in the World would a big bad mafia guy force a college drop out waitress to marry him, then off her after a couple months because he found out she was on birth control pills??
On top of that this was BORING as hell. Look, I know I am being nitpicky, but there is only so much I can overlook before I just want to chuck my tablet across the room.
When William sees Ana for the first time, he knew she was someone special. Unfortunately, at that time, she is being manhandled by her then husband. He wants to step in to help but the look in her eyes tells him that would only make matters worse. When Ana turns up missing, William gets some information from a friend that leads him out to find her. Once found, Ana is beaten and left for dead. She also has no recollection of what happened. For her safety, William and his family hide her while she recovers. There is a part of the story that seemed familiar and I realized it was reference to the Captive series by this author. I initially was confused when he started mentioning these other couples.
No cheating, no ow/om drama, no pushing away, devoted H who has been celibate for years, a great epilogue with a HEA! There is reference to prior abuse at the hands of her ex husband. It is not detailed but it was mentioned in the story.
This is the missing book that is the continuation of Sergei Stubborn Captive by this author. This is Lana sister Ana story who was the first wife to the mob boss. She was left for dead and the hero who was already head over heels in lust-love with her saved her. This is a sweet story that may not work for everyone as there is domestic abuse and rape (her account of the wedding night from hell). I can understand how she found herself in that situation with her first husband. It look me a while to piece it together because it has been a while since I read this series. Epilogue was sweet and I love it. I glad I read it but it's not a keeper for me. I did not really like Sergei so I don't have his book either. Just read it with kindle unlimited the same as this one. These two are a much nicer couple but they are also just a little too dull for me. Enjoyable and a must for those who have read CM Steele Captive series.
I love how much these two loved each other. There is talk of the h being forced to have sex with her abusive husband. Its only a paragraph or two and it's not too descriptive. Love that they were together for most of the book and no drama within the relationship. Little choppy in spots, little immature in spots, but the storyline is a great one.

Mostly an average read for me. The hero sees the heroine first time- she's married to to an abuser and later finds her beaten up. Then she has amnesia..then he gets her divorced and marries her..then sex.. I mean I really enjoy cowboy books usually but this just didnt work for me. The lead couple had little chemistry- and I really wanted something more. I did like the last half of the story when they became a couple. 3/5
3.5 stars. It was a quick and easy read. Not my favorite of this author's books but still glad I read it. I do love how her different books and different series tie in together.
Another awesome read from C.M. Steele featuring Lana from Sergei's Stubborn Captive twin sister, Ana who was married to the horrible Carlo Santini. Ana Santini woke up to with pain radiating through her body and the strangest feeling like she was in a dream world. There was a man sitting on her bed looking at her with such a warm smile. There was just one problem…she didn’t know who she was. It took several months for her memory to begin to come back. By then she’d already fell madly in love with her rescuer. I didn't know the book would be so short. Everything moved way too fast making everything that was happening unbelievable. I didn't get any connection or feeling for either character. In the end it all fell short for me.
I was hoping for a longer novel. This storyline had so much potential. I was really interested in the synopsis but it wasn't at all what I was expecting. It needed to be stretched out more. The insta love didn't work out for me with this one.
Even though I rated it a 1.5 I gave it an official 2 stars because even with it not being what I was hoping for I didn't hate the book, it just wasn't for me.
Not a bad story and I think it ties in with the other C.M. Steele's Captive series where Lana is looking for her missing sister. I don't like this story as much of C.M. Steele's earlier stories. I'm not sure what it is, but for me this one lacked a little something that her other stories had. I think it is because I didn't really care for Ana the heroine nor Will the hero. I thought they were both pretty average and nothing really stood out in their personalities that I really liked.
Glad to finally read about Ana - I read Lana's book a few months ago and I had been looking for Ana's book. It was sweet and cute classic CM Steele book ❤️
Whatever it takes is book one in the Cline Brothers series. I’m Not sure how I missed this little gem but I’m glad I found it. This story has a bit of everything. A hot possessive alpha, a heroine that is stronger than she knows, a bit of drama , a happily ever after and lots of babies!
Wow this was some book. I'm glad Will suspected that Ana's husband would try to hurt her. I'm glad they knew where to look when she was reported missing by her criminal husband. Can't believe he tried to kill her and dumped her like that. I'm glad Ana reunited with her sister, that had to be the best feeling for her, other than being with Will.
°Non virgin heroine °Celibate hero °Dual POV °Insta love/lust °OTT alpha hero (28 y/o) °No OW drama °No cheating between the MCs °No separation °No push/pull °No intimate scenes with OP °The heroine was sexually abused by her ex-husband (off page) °Epilogue: several years later
This was my first CM Steele book, and i really wanted to love it. I mean desperately. Unfortunately, I didn't. I spent most of the book being slightly confused. I get the novella concept, and normally love them, but the story seemed rushed and the characters were very under developed. The switching POV with no warning threw me off, and the emotional aspect was lacking. It was pretty clear how William was attracted to Ana, but I felt like i was being told about it as opposed to feeling it or seeing it for myself. The dialogue seemed very juvenile, like some of it should have been internal, but was actually said. THe polt kept me intrigued enough to keep at it to see if Ana and William got their HEA. I'll definitely read more by this author, and hopefully they come through for me. William Cline is a big, rich, and sexy cowboy. Despite being left injured and impotent from a bull riding injury, he has made a nice life for himself. Ana Santini is a battered woman. Married to a mafia bad boy (and not in a good way) she puts up with far more abuse than she should. After her husband finds out a little secret, she ends up being beaten and dumped, left for dead. None other than William Cline comes to rescue her, keeping her secret in case her husband comes sniffing around, which he doesn't. Actually he never shows up again, at least not with any consequence.
Umm, I tried to like this book, but unfortunately I struggled getting through it.
William sees Ana being handled roughly by her husband and makes it clear he doesn't agree with that kind of treatment. Later that night, the husband is in town making a big deal about not being able to locate his wife Ana. Turns out the husband is a member of the mob, and he beat and threw Ana over the side of a cliff and left her for dead by the river. William finds Ana who wakes up having amnesia. William is determined to keep Ana for himself.
All of that occurred within the first 10% or so of the book. The story itself wasn't that bad, but I had a hard time believing some of the actions of the town's people, especially everyone's agreement to keep the secret. Also, I'm thinking a mob boss would do a more thorough check in searching for his wife, especially if he left her for dead and doesn't want anyone finding the body.
The POV switches without any notice and some of the phrases/sentences are over the top, immature and cause some major eye rolling. For the readers who like the insta-love thing, you'll get that here along with a happy ending.
I have been waiting for what feels like forever to find out what happens when Lana and her twin sister Ana are reunited. Even though I had to wait till near the end of the book to find out, I was really happy with the outcome to their reunion. I loved the journey of love between Will and Ana. C.M Steele did Ana’s story justice and I cannot wait for more from this brilliant author.
Will was attracted to Ana as soon as he saw her. Even though she was obviously married and he could tell that she was being abused by her evil husband. Later on that day, Will found out that the gangsters wife had gone ‘’missing’’. Will knew that there was something shady going on and her went looking for the missing wife. He found her badly injured and he secretly takes her back to his house. He looks after Ana and soon finds out that she has amnesia and doesn’t remember anything about the attack or her life before. We get to follow Will and Ana’s relationship and their story of love. I really liked how protective Will is of his woman and I love Ana and Lana’s reunion.
Sweet and silly, no triggers, separation ow/om drama or angst. A nice little fairy tale especially if free.
William, a rich rancher and former rodeo rider (groin injury left him impotent) sees Ana being manhandled by her gangster husband on the streets of his small rocky mountain ski town. He feels the need to protect her so he distracts the guy. Later, he hears she's disappeared and fears the thug has harmed her. He finds her injured and takes her home with him. She has amnesia but is immediately attracted and attached to Will. He, meanwhile, is now "cured" of his little (no pun intended) erectile issue.
Cutesy little story follows. It is connected to another series of the author (which I haven't read) but you won't feel as if you've missed anything. You might be intrigued to read that series though after the references.
This is a short story that is super sweet with a cute HEA. Don't read if you aren't a fan of instalove. If you are then you'll enjoy this read. I was looking for something to pass time between longer reads and stumbled upon this author. I liked how she packed a lot of story in a short time. The sweet ending was just perfect. Ana - is in a bind and lands in William's lap. How she overcame everything was handled well and the time lapse for all that happened was good. William - he's definitely your macho alpha but what he does for Ana makes him a giant teddy bear.
The story was just flat for me. Once we meet the bad guy, that's it. Once the couple is together, that's it. Not much happens after about 15%. The intimate scenes were ok; also, the author seems to have a connecting order to many of her stories because there are always references to people and events not mentioned in the current book, but that order/connection is not spelled out anywhere.
Whatever it Takes is a look into Lana's, from Sergei's Stubborn Captive, twin sister Ana's story. When Will or alpha H first meets Ana he finds her an altercation with her husband Claudio. Will knows that there is something different about Ana and he needs to get her away from Santini before something goes wrong. Great quick instalove read with a sexy alpha H and an h that comes back from near death to find her HEA.
In the captive story we learn of Ana Lana's twin sister. This story is about Ana and William ,their struggle to hide from her abusive husband. I absolutely live this story I only wish more time was spent with Lana and ana together perhaps the family on vacation but it was not to be. I can't wait for the next book.
It was a cute story, but I didn't like the writing style. It felt like an adolescent would have wrote it. It jumped around a lot. At times I didn't know who was speaking. There was no real plot in my opinion. Sorry!
This was a good story. I would have given it more stars but if felt like it was written in the older days at first. But it does get better. This book has drama and sex and romance and a alpha lol.
This was a good book to read. I loved the characters. I loved the insta-love connection. Wonderful author. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
