Began writing after the age of 50.

Novels are based on recurring dreams that can last for weeks at a time.

No where near as dark as my writing would make me. Happy guy with a normal life.

Loves all things dystopian.

The continuing saga of survival in a world turned upside down. The characters are very well developed and quite realistic. None of them are super survivalists, none are super heros and they all make mistakes, a very realistic book.

The author has the reader both hating and fearing what they will do to the main character and his 'family' of decent people who found themselves in a world where law was meted out by violence, where food was scarce and survival very difficult.

So many situations that the author described are quite plausible and certainly makes one think about how easy we have things in our modern day world of ease and comfort.

The world was thrown back to the early 1800's in one quick moment and will never be the same again. Civilisation hasn't even begun to redevelop. An excellent series of 3 books, so far.

Book #4 is now out !! And it's of the same high calibre as the previous 3 in the series. Gotta read it, you will be glad that you did !!

Great story.

I LOVED this book just as much as the first book. Good plot, wonderful characters, and very good editing. No matter how good a book is if it has lousy editing it ruins everything else. When the words are misspelled, grammar is grossly screwed up, or words transposed, I get so annoyed and irritated I can't enjoy the story. My grammar sucks, but I'm neither and author or editor. Also I'm not writing to entertain. But Mr. Lake this and the previous book I read are definitely worthy of 5stars if not more. Can't wait to read the 3rd book, and plan on reading any other books you have out on the ether. Thank You for keeping my happily entertained. When I'm reading a story I'm not just looking for a little entertainment. I know I've "clicked" with the author and the story, when I'm pulled into that world. Almost like I'm another character and I'm experiencing everything along with the rest of the characters. Well you've succeeded Mr. Lake along with only a handful of other authors. Calling you Mr. Lake seems too formal since we're on this journey as fellow travelers in no where. Waiting anxiously for the next leg of our trip. Sincerely, Sally DeMicke

Got it on my kindle unlimited. It was a snow day so I had nothing to lose. The series started ok, mysterious meltdown of the power grid, protagonist alone at his family cabin in UP. From Joliet, IL. That's random. Had potential except author had no character development, all female characters were one dimensional-feisty old lady, crabby teenager, . Totally understand Bob the main Character had no survival skills or any real appreciation for nature, but neither did the author. I kept yelling find some chickens, and raise them instead of eating them. I'm sure there are a few wandering cows goats, horses in the UP. Pick fruit! Build a greenhouse! Unlimited number of bullies to shoot wandering stereotypical bad guys. Ugh.

Love it

The series is so good. This is the second book and the hero doesn’t realize he’s a hero...just an average person who was away in the wilderness when the world ended the struggles, the fighting and the good things that happen really keep my interest.

Really Good

New bad guys. People who just want to take from everyone else rather than learn to do things themselves. a couple of fights, lots of struggle. Two really big surprises. E A Lake writes a good apocalypse story.

No Where

I love these books. I hate when it is always government and military bases storylines. This is more like I think real people will learn to live. Without the news and media hyping things up like now.

Great!!!

Book two was great. The only problem I found was why they didn't butcher the dead horse. Still, I can hardly wait to read the next installment.

Scary and interesting

I love the characters. I pray we don’t have to go through what they are. The world is scary enough as it is.

With many series, I love the first book and lose interest with the second. However, Books 1 and 2 were both excellent. Looking forward to reading the next two books.

Great series.

A lot of unexpected twists and turns. An apocalyptic drama ( and love story) that is both scary and offers hope in hard times.

Still enjoying reading the series. Main characters continue to struggle with hunger and now horse-back raiders. One major flaw during gunfight, when he describes the sound made by a Glock 19 when the safety was clicked off. Everybody knows Glocks don't have that type of safety.

i just read the first of the series and liked it so much i got this one

he got shot in the side this time (hes already missing his little finger from last time he was shot)
they nursed him back to health but he sees hes never going to be able to walk back to find his wife if shes even there. he has lost so much weight

then the bad men from town came on horses and stole most of their food. they are rationing but the young girl is preg so they are letting her have more

a woman with kids showed up, her young son was dead. he buried her son for her. they got to liking each other, he felt bad at first as he was still married

so now they are in difficult situation with not enough food to last the winter and are afraid the men from town will come back and steal what little they do have

the men came and burned down the house while he was gone
they all had to move into his old cabin
they killed dizzy

he wants to go after them, but no one wants him to

Entertaining great read!

Most Apocalypse books I've read are the same thing but with a different name. The antagonist is a pepper, has plenty of money to invest in the perfect bug out place, a lot of weapons and is very educated on surviving.
This book was totally different. Bob has no idea what he is doing. Without the help of his neighbors, he'd have died the first winter. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Bob's mistakes were mistakes any of us every day people would have made.
My only disappointment is having to wait for book 3. Thanks for an entertaining read!

A new twist

You have a dry sense of humour and a way of expression that is normal speech for many "normal" folks. Yes, there were grammar errors, probably from editing - however, the manner that you tell the story is unique and very well done. Thanks for a truly good story.

Unfinished story line

I gave this book 3 stars only because of the abrupt ending. I loved the story but it did not have a finish to the storyline. I would have liked to have read more into their journey..

This book continues more of the same of the last, although we don't get a full resolution at the end. We for sure will have another book in this series. I felt this book had some slower parts, but I still enjoyed it, and look forward to the next one.

Enjoyed this book thoroughly. It was not without its typographic and content errors, but overlooking those it had a tremendous and thrilling plot that kept me reading through to the end. Well done.
