I expected much more than I got with this book. The concept with the dogs was cute, but that was it. The characters fell in love way too quick with zero build-up. I didn't feel an emotional connection between them which left everything else (including the sex scenes) lacking. I don't understand why some of the writers in this genre refuse to allow their characters to get to know one another before they jump into bed. I know it's a romance novel, but I get tired of hearing about how amazing the heroine's curves are or how tanned and muscular the hero is before these two characters even say a word to one another. All sex and no depth.

Something To Keep You Warm

This was a very good read. John is undercover law enforcement attempting to bring down a criminal enterprise when he is betrayed. As with most betrayals he is unsure who is to blame or trust. When Leena discovers him injured she is unsure of the situation but steps in to help him elude those who hurt him & be on the road to recovery. There is light banter between the characters & a tender relationship developes. Leena is a trainer of professional protection canines. I loved that she had her who job to be proud of. The sexual chemistry was off the charts between these two. Sit back & enjoy this read.

Huh nothing likeable about character

After reading this I realized I am never going to get back the time I invested reading this story. No chemistry nothing about the female character is likeable, except she likes dog. Male character has no backbone. A waste of time.

Fascinating story

Loved how the dogs play such a major part in the story. I especially loved that the career of the woman was center stage and she had an established life separate from the male. I learned a lot about dogs and training.

Awesome Read

Gave it 5 stars because could not put the book down ..had me riveted from chapter 1 to the review ..I’m a cat lover myself however this story got me thinking about dogs. This story had action, undercover intrigue stuff, hero who’s alpha tendencies is sexy as it can be and the heroine who likes it doggy style than missionary and a dog show what more can you ask for...have to read it to check out. I’ve always loved Aliyahs genre and style of writing she is always a fav author..is there a story about the hero’s brother and hacker that would be an,interesting read..

Undercover. Betrayal. Life or Death. Truth. Lies. Protection.

This romantic suspense heats up frozen bodies and closed off hearts. When one thing leads to another and there was more at stake than just collecting evidence and information. When your future may be wiped out before you can grab a hold of it.

John has a lot going on in his life and almost dying happens to be one of them. But on the cusp of death he gets a reprieve in the form of Leena. She loves dogs but people laying dying in a icy river has a way at getting to her. She does all she can to rescue the man she found. But then she goes even further to protect him. This One Cold Night turns in to one seriously hot encounter neither will forget.

The chemistry between John and Leena is pretty much immediate. Steamy and sweet. Even though they end up snowed in this story has great flow. No slow, bog you down, page flipping just to get through. Unlike other female leads, Leena knows she is falling for John and tries to tell herself to be careful. It was interesting to read about her working with the dogs. Being an animal lover I enjoyed the personality given to the dogs characters. The drama and action is exciting and real enough to hold your interest. I had fun reading this story and would of course tell you to give it a try. I was given this story for an honest review and this is mine.

I've decided to just accept Ms. Burke's weird phraseology and give her three stars because the book like most of her stories had me glued until the end. John and Leena were both interesting characters, especially Leena there is definitely more of a back story to her. There were a few inconsistencies in the story line but they were easily over looked and I wish that Ms. Burke had let us in on the happenings during the attack with Davis and Leena but...overall a good story.

This was an extremely enjoyable read. Ms. Burke is one of my go to authors and this book did not disappoint. If course putting in hot men and dogs was a major plus for this story. Additionally, having the men be police and military gave them a roughness that I enjoy. The copy I purchased from the publisher contained a few too many editing errors to garner five stars.

How refreshing to have not only love between two people be the main focus but the unconditional love that a dog can give and how they have feelings too great read especially for dog lovers like me!

Good read

A mystery, Love and dogs. I think I liked the parts with the dogs more than the romance and I'm not a pet person
