Ian John Smith, born May 1981 in Portsmouth England. My childhood was one of hardship, growing up in a poor household. Many of my memories were that of survival, growing up with a father unable to read and who followed a life of crime. To this day he tells me his greatest achievement was making sure I never followed in his footsteps and what joy he got from watching me read a book. Each day there was a struggle to put food on the table. As an only child my life was a lonely one, I filled my life with a love of books. From the brilliance of Roald Dahl to the amazing inspiration of William Shakespeare.
Growing up in a tough family made me a survivor and that meant my passion for writing always came last, working long hours in a Factory from the age of seventeen. That was until fate intervened many years later, diagnosed with a bad heart. There is a long fancy medical name for it, but I decided long ago to never let it stop me. I have to thank that moment in my life, it made me realize we have to follow our dreams. Whatever path they lead. I took a job for less money as a projectionist, this allowed me to have the time to write. It may have been a scribble on a scrappy piece of paper or a story of meaning, it never mattered it was my passion. Never dreaming of publishing my work, I was happy to enjoy the work for myself.
Little did I know fate would intervene again, My mother, Sandra who passed away so suddenly forcing me to make changes to my life. My father Michael terminally ill himself needed someone, being an only child, I made it my responsibility.
I left my second job due to fate, but along the path I realized I wanted to write. Now my work, maybe ridiculed it maybe considered inferior, but that does not matter. What matters is I finally get to live my dream. I am not a writer looking for wealth or fame I am just a man looking to live his dream.
Now I will publish stories I enjoy, from short stories to Novels. I will also be publishing work in a series format. This is my beginning.

Not as good as the first 2. It felt rushed and was way too short. Hopefully Terror will lift the standard back up to where it needs to be.

An emotional read! I have read all the D&A series. I must say, you sir, are talented. Some stories will make you laugh while others can make you cry. This series, this entire story line, with its fascinating characters, all the twists...will have you doing both at some point. Love this authors work and will recommend him to everyone I know......provided they are into the ZOMPOC genre as I am.

This book starts 6 months after sacrifice ended , the survivors are now in a school taking refuge . Frank and the gang are making it work and keeping the school safe . But there is an evil that is lurking out there ready to attack them at any moment . Will they survive the zombies and will they survive the new threat .

I must say this is the best book of the series so far. The author really puts us through the ringer with this one . There was so much going on in this book. We have the gang living their lives and all of a sudden we have a new evil force that is trying to take the school . They are Mercy and they are marauders that just take and will kill just to prove a point . I cried cause they just killed a character bam and she was gone. They are evil and I mean evil, and just take. Frank and the gang have to figure out how to survive this. When out of nowhere an old friend comes back and starts fighting with them. I am not going to tell you who comes back, you have to read to find that out . It gave me chills and I got all excited when I was reading and realized that the character came back . It was so cool . But is was bitter sweet also cause there was pain and death that come comes along with this character .

I must say this book had me crying and screaming and wanting to throw my kindle across the room a few times reading this book. There is so much blood spilled and not just from the zombies . The author puts us through the ringer with this one . It has a walking dead vibe to it in some ways which I liked . it was so intense and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this one . I must say I really disliked the author after I read the scene where he decided to kill off a beloved character . But all is good now I have come to terms with it and I am moving on. So if you want a great series of books for a great summer read . Check out the DEAD & ALIVE series by I.J Smith

Broken starts out with our survivors taking refuge in a school where they have secured the area led by Frank who stepped up after Jack was killed and has tried to keep the survivors safe or as safe as can be in a world filled with zombies and other survivors who are looking out for themselves and who will stop at nothing in taking what they want. Enter a group who call themselves…Mercy! This heartless group is anything but filled with mercy for anyone, including members of their own group. I.J. Smith once again takes on an emotional ride with this third book in the series. One that will have you cringing, screaming, swearing and crying. It is also filled with many surprises that you won’t see coming! This is definitely a great series that you should start from the beginning with Dead & Alive Outbreak so you understand how this all started and who all of the characters are and how they all became the survivors they are in a world filled with man eating monsters. I highly recommend it if you love zombie stories or stories of survival. Thank you I. J. Smith for another well written story that kept me on the edge of my seat!

Picking up 6 months after the second book ended, Frank, Elle, Bray, Ryan, Zoe and the other survivors are now living in a school behind metal fences. Life has been moving on the best way it can during a zombie apocalypse until they're attacked by a gang of low lives calling themselves "Mercy". Led by the sadistic Macleod, the attack is brutal. The non stop action has lots of blood, gore, zombies and some great new characters you will either love or hate. Again we learn that fellow survivors are a bigger threat than the zombies. The zombies have no choice in their actions but the waste of skin humans do! There are many twists and turns in this emotional roller coaster ride. I highly recommend this book and the whole Dead & Alive series to anyone who loves the horror/zombie genre. Well done I J Smith.
