Until we meet again on the other side of the rainbow.
We all woke up to the terrible news on Sunday 12th June, 2016, of the horrific attack in Orlando, and not only did it affect the LGBT community, it also outraged the world.
So many of us felt powerless as we watched the horror unfold upon our screens, but Patricia Strehle had a remarkable idea, one that would galvanize an entire community into action. Patricia brought a group of people together with the idea of creating a book, an anthology, and donating all the proceeds from its sale to the families affected by this terrible tragedy.
Over The Rainbow is the result—stories contributed by so many wonderful authors from all over the world. These stories are meant to inspire, to warm the heart, to bring a smile or a gentle laugh to help guide us all through the darkness, and to remind us that we all inhabit this world together, that we need to be kind, and that sometimes, we just need to follow that yellow brick road hand in hand.
All sales proceeds from this Anthology will go to the following Charity: https://www.gofundme.com/PulseVictims...
A.J. Marcus grew up in Texas. He’s always had a fascination with cowboys, comic books and the great outdoors. He started writing in high school and at times spent more time writing than he did reading, and he’s a voracious reader. Maybe it was growing up in Texas, but his love of rugged men showed up even before he realized what was going on. He likes his men manly, hard, tough and caring, men with hearts, and other parts, as big as Texas.
A.J. currently lives near Colorado Springs, Colorado with his loving partner and several horses. The men here are still men.
This would get 5 stars for the cause alone, but these authors came together at a time of deep sorrow, and offered what they did best. The stories, poems, and essays are from the heart.
The one I loved the best was Sean Kerr's The One Ring. It was a good thing I wasn't drinking anything while I read it, because I would have shot the beverage out my nose. Seriously, I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my chair on the lanai. Awesome job, and I've bookmarked it on my cellphone so I can have my son read it the next time I see him.
I initially purchased this book to support the victims and families of the Orlando shooting. Had no expectations really but was pleasantly surprised by the quantity an quality of the stories. There are mostly feel good HEA stories, a few that made me look the author up for more of their work, Three of my favourite M/M authors Alexa Land, Grein Murray and Susan MacNichol to my delight have contributed. One story in particular by Sean Kerr that I couldn't breathe from snort laughing. So please grab this book not only for the content but also to support this very worthy cause.
As much as the Pulse shooting showed us the worst of humanity. This book shows us the BEST in humanity. We can jump in together, and a moments notice and work to help each other. That is what this book is.... at the end of the day... love will ALWAYS win.
A group of stories and poems that range from tear jerking to laugh out loud funny that celebrate the diversity of love and honor the tragedy of loss. A worthwhile purchase for both the charity donation as well as the value of the read as well.
I bought this mostly because of the cause (as proceeds go to the victims of the Pulse shootings), but throughly enjoyed it. The stories were extremely short, some where poems, but overall a great way to honor the victims. I applaud everyone who helped.
