The Angelique Saga #1

Angelique's Storm

Rate this book
The rain came down in heavy sheets and the wind howled around her as the angry surf churned in response. But she had battled the storms of life before, and she would not be intimidated, not by nature’s fury nor by a man, even one who once had her heart…....
When the beautiful plantation-born socialite Angelique Latour is swept off her feet and quickly wedded to a swarthy scoundrel, her world is turned upside down. Although schooled to be a charming, proper Creole belle, her fine education does not prepare her for the cruel irony that leaves her penniless and alone. Haunted by loss and betrayal, she refuses to be a victim, tapping into her own resourcefulness to save herself in a world where men traditionally hold the power and position. And just as a unique opportunity for reinvention, redemption, and romance presents itself, forces of nature and the universe plot to spoil her happiness, driving her hopes with a hurricane’s fury into the wide expanse of the Gulf of Mexico. Angelique’s Storm weaves a powerful tale of suspense, treachery, and survival against the backdrop of pre-Civil War South Louisiana

Captivating with it's colorful characters and gorgeous deep south background.

I loved the author's artistic ability in creating in depth characters, both good and evil. Her ability to weave a tapestry of colorful personalities, all dependent on the other. This is my first novel by this author, but certainly will not be the last! Thanks for the entertainment, Ms. Millet

I love historical romances and especially when they are based on fact in the states. This book was a pleasure to read and kept me wanting to pick it up when I should have been doing other things. I’m anxious to read the next two in the Angelique series. It’s so nice to find a new author to follow ❤️

A friend recommended this book because she went to school with the author. I liked it. I found it was sort of a white bread version of the time period, but at least the hurricane part had some meat to it.

Trials and Tribulations of a story

Each chapter were given with ups and Downs!
I ended each page of each chapter with a message left within me to ponder.
From each to the other a very good story line!!

Angelique is a lovely, strong woman!

Although this is a predictable love story, many other things are taking place at the same time. Angelique ends up with “her man”, but many other people come and go in the historical fiction. Anyone who enjoys love stories would enjoy this book!

Storms

This was an easy book to read and the story moved quickly and progressed quickly. There were a number of grammatical errors but it was easy to read pass them.

Loving the story of love and romance with a strong touch of Christian faith and not lust and sinfulness. Can’t wait to read the second book.

Storm

The book was boring, what little history came very late in the book. Very hard to finish. However this is just my opinion.

After the storm, the sun returns

This is the story of overcoming to experience what comes next. Faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.

Angelique’s Many storms

A fascinating character from antebellum times tries on her own, despite society, to survive and prosper in life. Very intriguing!

My friend recommended this novel- a debut work by a local author. I always enjoy supporting new writers and this novel explored the 1856 hurricane on Last Island near New Orleans. It was an interesting story- realistic characters and creatively - woven bits of history within the time frame. I would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book about the 1800's hurricane on Last Island, Louisiana. The historical part was fascinating, and I felt like I had been transported to a more genteel time as the heroine, Angelique, gracefully navigated both the storm itself and the treachery visited upon her by the person she should have been able to count on most of all. A genuine "good read" for sure!
