Published in 1984, 'The Best of Signal' is a large selection of features from the WW2 German 'Signal' magazine. The magazines reputation for impressive photo features is well expressed here, as is the propaganda element. The best propaganda always contains an element of truth, and this is just as true now as it was in WW2. In fact, the twisted facts presented in some of the 'Signal' articles are often unintentionally funny when read 80 years later - I especially enjoyed the article about the rigid English class system. The photos, especially the colour pics, have been over-used in many publications since, often repeating the inaccurate descriptions that they were tied with in 'Signal' and can often be a great yardstick for how poorly researched a book is. Great fun.
