I love character driven books and this definitely was that. There were a few things in this book that didn't sit well with me, one was there was way too much growling and I felt at times that Jace's character changed way too much, like he was too different people. Other than that this was a pretty good read.

Julia has grown up most of her life, living in foster homes and looking for love. When she meets a man over the internet and they converse for awhile, she thinks she may be in love, so she quits her job and leaves her life to move to Boston to be with him. Turns out that was not a smart move, when she wakes up to find she has been robbed and the new boyfriend is nowhere to be found.

With no money, she begins to hitchhike back to where she lived, New York. She meets an elderly man who drives her partway, then gives her money and clothes to take a bus the rest. The bus ends up taking her to the wrong place and when taking a break on a bench, she realizes the bus has left, with all her stuff on it.

Now stuck with nothing again she wanders around, hungry, when she finds a place to get food. Overhearing a women using a man's tab to pay for her food, Julia does the same. When the owner of the shop asks her how she knows this man Jace, she tells her it's her fiance and that's when everything spirals out of control.

Jace is surprised and pissed when he comes home for vacation to find his mother throwing him an engagement party, his fiance a woman he has never seen before in his life. He should tell the truth, but seeing how happy his family seems, he doesn't want to hurt their feelings, instead he makes a pact with the woman, Julia to keep up the facade for a month and then part ways. But as he gets to know Julia, he finds that he has a deep attraction and maybe even feelings for her and is not sure if when the time comes, he will be able to let her go.

Uh cliffhanger from hell?
Where's book 2
I need book 2
OMG

This story was a totally unrealistic read but so entertaining, cute and fun - original and quirky.
The lies and deceit are amusing but suspenseful and the excitement rises as the story goes on.

The luncheon with Kaytlyn is awesome and I found myself cheering it on lol
I love the main characters honesty (well, her honest opinions and approach to things). You can really connect with Julia and find yourself cheering her on as the story progresses.

The characters have great chemistry and a strong connection, soo hot but the thing that threw me was how she went from sweet to naughty so fast. It was almost uncomfortable at times.

First congrats on your first self publish book. I received this book from Anne Mercier, and can I just say I loved it, it had everything in it comedy romance and sadness.

At first I thought the couple was going to be joes grandson the one who's room she sleeps in. I honestly had no idea where this book would lead. I laughed so hard when kaitlyn tried to kill herself a couple of times her reasoning was superficial and it just showed what type of character she was. She needs a psych evaluation that girl.

I cried when the moments between Julia and Ava came into play it was just so touching.

But I feel like this novel was left in a cliffhanger the only way they would run into each other again is at the coffee shop. They just need a fresh start but he should of taken off with her and then they can return back to Newport.

Bring on more Tracy Burke can't wait, ps how many is going to be for this series (:

This book is hilarious. I think we can all relate to Julia, the heroine. She gets herself in some funny situations. And I absolutely love Kaitlyn. She's crazy, but she's fun. Can't wait for book 2.

"Oh... What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive" - Sir Walter Scott :)

Julia's life has fallen apart. She gave up everything for a man. Not at all unusual. She thought they would have a life together... Raise a family together... Instead, he walks out on her and takes with him everything she owns but the clothes on her back :( Bastard!!! Once that happens, what's a girl to do?

Julia decides to hitch hike home to New York. All begins well enough. She is picked up by a very kind man named, Joe. Joe is on his way to visit his son and daughter-in-law because his son is going to hospital for surgery. Joe is very helpful to Julia. He feeds her and buys her a change of clothes and a shower. Once they arrive at his son's house, Joe and his daughter-in-law (Diana), feed Julia again, give her a bed for the night and pack some things to help her on her way home. Food, clothes, water and a little money. Joe even drives her somewhere she will be able to catch a bus toward home. Julia is extremely grateful for their help and is finally hopeful that she will soon get home.
What follows is a series of unfortunate events. First she misses the bus she needs to catch, fortunately, they come frequently so she can just catch the next one.... Which she does .... One small problem arises... It has taken her in the wrong direction and she is now further away from home than when she was dropped off that morning. In her confusion and despair over her error, she leaves her bag on the bus, thus losing (once again) all she has but the clothes she is wearing. After throwing herself a pity party and waiting for the bus to return in hopes of retrieving her misplaced bag, she decides to walk into town and try to get a feed. ... This is where the web begins.

Julia tells a lie in order to get a lobster roll and a bottle of water. Her intention is to eat and then work out how to get home. She will send the $20 for the food once she gets home. .. Unfortunately, that one lie leads her into a deep dark cave of lies and deceptions so she doesn't get caught out in her first lie. The very wealthy, Jace Bryant is in for a very rude shock when he gets home. There are so many laugh out loud moments while she is trying to keep her mask firmly in place and keep herself out of the big house.

Now ... In her defence, she does attempt to leave once she has been fed... However, people keep getting in the way. After a short period of time, she decides to stay and live the lie. I admit, I was a little disappointed in her, but I guess I see her way of thinking. This life is sooo much better than pretty much her whole life. Everyone falls in love with her, except for Kaitlyn... Kaitlyn is Jace Bryant's Newport squeeze (he has a girl in every port). She has been in love with Jace's life (not Jace himself mind you), for about 20 years. She always believed that she would wear the family heirloom ring, take his name and spend her life on Jace's arm... Trouble is, Kaitlyn is a huge bitch and everyone HATES her. No way was Jace ever going to marry her, no matter what.

I don't really want to tell you what happens... You should find your own way, but there are so many great lines and events. I really loved this story. The reason it isn't a five star read is the ending. It was too abrupt, in my opinion. I'm sure it was paving the way for a second book, which is fine, but it was just too cold and too sudden.
There is a second book, and I will totally read it.

Okay read

Liked the writing, the storyline, and characters were relatable. What I don't get is the ending. Major Cliffhanger. I don't get how the second book will have enough to make it interesting. I think book one was enough since it covered everything. All the second book is going to show is how Jace will be whoring himself to get back at Julia for leaving. Come on he humiliated her while hitting on another girl while he was with her. This book was slow and predictable. Probably won't be seeing book 2 sometime soon. I am conflicted if I will read the next book since I hate reading about the heroine sleeping around which Jace will be doing since the ending alluded to it. Recommend this book if cliffhanger endings doesn't bother you.

Wow!

I am so glad I picked this book for my weekend read. I enjoyed the story, the writing and the characters. The emotions and internal dialog of the characters felt so real, I could not stop turning pages. Warning...there is cliff hanger, but for once I was not angry or frustrated when I got there. I am really looking forward to the next book to find out what happens with Jace and Julia.

The very first book from Tracy Burke was quiet entertaining. The story was unrealistic but oh so entertaining.

The story felt a bit rushed at times and the sexual escapades felt a little forced, no pun intended, overall thought I thoroughly enjoyed it until the cliffhanger at the end.

Need to keep reading to see where Tracy takes this story, always a good sign. For a first book I gave it 4 for effort.

I recommend this book.
