Before this book, I had never heard of Nash Grier. I am not huge on social media. Yes, I have a Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts but the only one I am actively working on gaining followers on is Instagram. It is not an easy process. However, if you score it just right, you can find yourself an overnight sensation like Nash.
I briefly heard of the app Vine but I never tried it. It appears that Nash comes from a well grounded family. That is what made me keep reading this book is how humble Nash came off and I have never even met him. After reading this book, I did go out and checked his Instagram account. It was nice to see that he and Taylor are still together.
Yet, as I was reading this book, it seemed a bit on the light side. I wanted to know a bit more about Nash's rise to fame. In addition, there were photos with Nash visiting different places and a humanitarian effort with clean water. I would have liked to have read more about these adventures. Although, readers who are familiar with Nash may really enjoy this book.
Nash: The Official Biography (Hardcover) by Nash Grier Nash is a social media darling by his own testimony, which is supported by his 4.8 million followers. Reading the book I found that his story is inspirational. I would recommend it to my students to see that there is more to the story than could be posted in 280 characters. Nash is a strong person, and his character is shown in the pages to inspire my students to reach their dreams. This book was passed on to me by the publisher I went hesitantly into reading this Biography. First of all I do not Know who Nash Grier is. I have never logged on to Vines, and do not even check out Twitter. As a mother of a daughter his age I found I was remarkably impressed by Nash's self reflection and description of his life's ebbs and flows.
This one just wasn't for me at all. When I started this I had no idea who Nash even was. I have to say that even though I read this one cover to cover this one just wasn't for this reader. It was interesting and I loved the photos that we got but the overall feel of the biography just wasn't for me.
Such a amazing autobiography in my opinion of one of my favorite youtubers. Nash explains how he went from some normal kid to a online sensation by night, he shows his mental growth to maturity, love and fatherhood.
This book mostly is for the people who knows a little about the life of Nash but I think this can be a good way to feel inspired to follow your dreams and how they can chance through the years.
When I was contacted to read and review this book, I didn’t know who Nash Grier was. Social media changes so fast that I am too old to be part of his audience, and my kids are too young, LOL! Now I’ve learned about Nash’s life, and more importantly, his purpose.
His book tells of his life growing up in North Carolina, through his move to L.A. to see what social media success could truly mean, and through several experiences that shaped where and who he is now. He wants everyone to be able to follow their passion and purpose, and enjoy the happiness and success he has found. He set out to have his biography written as another way to connect with people and encourage them.
Overall, Nash Grier’s book is his biography, and the only purpose for reading a biography is to learn about the person featured. While his book does show that being a social media star is not all sunshine and roses, I don’t feel that it really gives ‘tips’ to kids who dream of social media success. I like that he is now determined to use the platform he’s built to bring attention to his purpose to improve the world. His book was well-written as a biography, and I liked the personal annotations where Nash commented on the story of his life as written by the author, Rebecca Paley. I’d give the book 3 out of 5 stars.
