I adore this book so much. There is so much to see and so much to learn. I smile every time I see that lion. It is captivating. I cannot stop looking at the cover, it is amazing. That is only the outside, what is inside is even more amazing! Animal Bites is a fun way to title this book, as my son pointed out, because this book provides us bites of information. I adored the fact that there is a key in the front cover as how to use the book. This allows the reader to easily find areas of interest and go directly to that spot to read. There are so many categories that there is certainly something of interest for everyone. Also, the table of content, activities and resources, glossary and index all add to details within this book. These are great components of book that can be discussed and taught to your little ones.
What I honestly love the most is that the book is great for reluctant readers or those that struggle with reading. The little tidbits of information are not overly wordy or difficult to read and the tidbits are accompanied by gorgeous, vibrant and fascinating photos. Because of all the various categories it allows the reader to read things that are of interest to them. They can easily jump around in the book and still be completely entertained. I must have said "WOW" more than a dozen times while reading this book with my son.
This is one of those books that belongs in a child's home library. It is great for car ride and to create bonding and snuggle while you and your child delight in the sight and information of nature. 5 stars

It looks like this entire series would be a nice addition to any library, including personal collections. The photograph are crisp, bright, and sometimes beautiful. I think the photography work alone will capture the attention of young readers. The information, especially the Animal Bites in the sidebars are well worded and organized to keep the interest of young readers while still being very informative. I think animal lovers will quickly take to this book, and not want to giver it up. I think Animal Planet found the perfect combination of fun and information to keep readers of all ages interested own the book and wanting to revisit it time and again. This book is exactly as the series says, Animal Bites. There are so many facts in this book that something is going to draw in any reader. This book describes many aspects of Wild animals. It talks about habitats, adaptations, family life and more. The photos in this book are amazing. They are so close you feel like you can touch the animals. The special sections on the side that include cool animal facts, simple infographics, and illustrated maps of the Earth and the habitats as well as the "just like me" bits are sure to invite discussion and further investigation. The back of the book that includes facts on conservation, activities, further resources and an extensive Glossary. I love that a portion of the proceeds will benefit Animal Planet's R.O.A.R. This book would be a great addition to a school or class library, especially those learning about habitats, adaptations and conservation.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
WILD ANIMALS provides young readers with a nature adventure in a variety of habitats across multiple continents. Japanese Macaques enjoy spa days. African bullfrogs seal themselves in underground burrows to survive year-long droughts. African bull elephants weigh as much as two pickup trucks. Humpback whales hunt using “bubble nets” and only male Zebra finches can sing. These are just a few of the interesting facts that fill pages
Like the other books in the series, the animal sections are interspersed with thematic units with specific tabs such as Where They Live, How They Live, Vista (showing animals in their environment), Big Data (facts and figures), Animal Gallery (highlighting similarities and differences) and so on. Stunning action-filled photographs, informative notes, colorful maps and charts make for easy access to information and will delight both youngsters and adults as they explore the amazing diversity of wild life on our amazing planet.
A great addition to home, classroom or school library.
This beautiful book was the first I have read in the Animal Planet's outstanding selection for young readers. My son and I saw 200 full-color photographs of animals from all over the world, and learned many interesting facts about the beautiful animals. I was lucky to receive this and 2 other Animal Planet books for advance review before they were released to the public in order to provide an honest opinion / review.
The book's target audience is young readers who may or may not have long attention spans. the book provides many facts about a huge variety of animals from different regions of the world. An outstanding non-fiction book for children. The photographs of animals are beautiful and a short text about each animal is provided for each photo.
A beautiful and informative book for children who are advance or beginning readers who love to learn about the animals around the world an actually see the majestic animal in its own habitat.
Beautiful colorful pictures. Very educational. Wow! African bullfrog can be underground for up to a year. African elephants uses their ears to lower their body temperatures. A favorite animal is the gray wolf. Amur Tigers are beautiful animals. Mountain gorilla are as tall as a teenager. Baby ostriches are adorable. Another favorite animal of my is dolphins, which my daughter loves. She also loves flamingos. We have flamingos at our Aviary and they are a must see when we are there. Love how it is written about the grizzly bears. Bald Eagles are gorgeous animals.
Great wild activities in the end of the book!
☆☆☆☆☆ I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Read more from this author? Yes!
Received from Netgalley This is the second book I have read from the Animal Bites series and I just adore them. My kids are really into anything that has to do with animals right now and this is perfect for them. The pictures are so vibrant and gorgeous and the little "bites" of information is just enough that they don't get bored with it. from elephants to bull frogs and everything in between my kids got a glimpse at all aspects of animal life in a way that was laid out perfect for them to understand and be interested in.
I will definitely be adding this to my library. I think it's a great book to check out before a zoo trip and one to revisit as the children grow up, one of those books where they will always find something new to learn.
Wild Animals explores a lot of the animals that we don't see in the rest of the Animal Bites series. We learned about elephants, tigers, snakes, bears, and spiders. There are lots of photos and fact boxes. My kids always enjoy the "Just like me" and "Info Bites" sections.
I'm very happy with this entire series of books. They are easy to read, beautifully designed, and informative without becoming boring. The books are interesting and keep my kids engaged while we learn about different animals. These books are perfect for kids between the ages of 7-10 that like science, wildlife, and nature.
Really, you can't go wrong with this book. It has big, colorful photos and interesting facts for kids to absorb.
This is an animal book done right. Information is done in “Animal Bites”, small tid bits just perfect for kids with wandering minds. This covers a variety of wild animals. The best picture by far is the swimming crocodile. A favorite things is the “worthy” sections. Are they Selfie Worthy? Besty Worthy? Very well done Animal Planet.
This book is phenomenal. It's packed with pictures along with facts. I used this book with my children who are visual learners and it was a complete hit! My daughter loved this book so much that she hid it in her room. I highly recommend this book to any parent who is looking for engaging books to read to their children.
I received this book in a giveaway sponsored by Goodreads.
I am so glad that Animal Planet is publishing this series that focuses on a different group of animals in each one. As a mom to a son that truly adores all types of animals, I am so glad that there are the variety of quality nonfiction animal texts out there for readers to access.
I have read a few of the books in this series from Animal Planet and this one is just as good as the others that I have read - all of which I have given 5 stars. I love the layout, the facts, images are clear and sharp. Enjoyable informative books for all ages.
The best part is the beautiful and interesting photographs. The book is full of interesting facts about the animals pictured. It is best for elementary school kids but any age would enjoy looking at the pictures and reading the facts. I recommend it for animal lovers and fact lovers.
Beautiful photographs, a clean but engaging layout, and interesting facts make this a great book for kids. I expected as much since is by Animal Planet.
I won this book through Goodreads Giveaways. I think my son will enjoy it when he is a bit older. Excellent large photographs and lots of great facts. My only criticism is I wish it were longer. Thanks Goodreads!
I loved information in this book. I also loved the pictures. I like how it gives children a chance to see animals that they may never see in real life. This would be a great book to use when you are talking about a unit on zoo animals and be able to put those animals in their native lands.
