About the author

August William Derleth was an American writer and anthologist. Though best remembered as the first book publisher of the writings of H. P. Lovecraft, and for his own contributions to the Cthulhu Mythos and the Cosmic Horror genre, as well as his founding of the publisher Arkham House (which did much to bring supernatural fiction into print in hardcover in the US that had only been readily available in the UK), Derleth was a leading American regional writer of his day, as well as prolific in several other genres, including historical fiction, poetry, detective fiction, science fiction, and biography

A 1938 Guggenheim Fellow, Derleth considered his most serious work to be the ambitious Sac Prairie Saga, a series of fiction, historical fiction, poetry, and non-fiction naturalist works designed to memorialize life in the Wisconsin he knew. Derleth can also be considered a pioneering naturalist and conservationist in his writing

"Fué un filósofo chino el que dijo hace muchos años que la verdad, por obvia y simple que sea, resulta siempre increíble debido a que la vida social del hombre se ha convertido en algo tan complejo que la verdad se torna cada vez más difícil de comprender. Ningún otro comentario puede ser más justo que éste con relación a Ithaqua, el Dios de las Nieves."

Nos situamos en los gélidos bosques de la región de Manitoba.
La desaparición de una persona desencadena en la posterior investigación y diferentes informes que determinan que son habituales las desapariciones entre los nativos de la región, sin embargo estas están inconclusas.
Dicha investigación se llevara en la profundidad del bosque, donde se encontraran Altares, hogueras, círculos en la nieve. ¿serán Sacrificios? ¿o tal vez apaciguamiento? para un ser elemental, un dios antiguo.


Algunos afirman que Podría tratarse del Wendigo, o quizás "Un pariente cercano" lo que es seguro es el tributo a la obra Blackwood, y a este mito regional.
Y Ademas es la continuación del legado del mentor de Derleth, Lovecraft, con su respectiva mitología omnipresente en el relato .

Corpses dropping from the sky is an incredible way to start a story about a monstrous wind-thing. Ithaqua is a collection of encounters with That Which Walks on the Wind, and while it doesn't work great as a singular cohesive story the tales themselves are interesting, if a bit repetitive.

Чем этот рассказ отличается от «Оседлавший Ветер» - я забыл примерно через день после прочтения. Значит зацепить было особо не чем. Итакуа хватает людей, таскает по небу и делает из них снеговиков. Не знаю, мне от этого скорее смешно.

Lovecraft; without the Brilliant and haunting prose.
And somewhat racist. which is par for course for Lovecraft-lites of the time I suppose.
