Thousands of years old—and today’s hottest interior design trend. “Gives suggestions for balance and harmony.”— Publisher’s Weekly. “Learn how to use color, texture and shape to boost your energy, calm your spirit and simply create a stunning home that will feel as good as it looks.” — Timber Homes Illustrated.
The author seems to put her own twist on feng shui, including how it might affect chakras and elemental balance within the body. She also uses slightly different terminology for some of the gua. The book has plenty of pictures but doesn't go into much depth for anything, with barely a paragraph for most topics. It might be a decent introduction to the concepts of feng shui but some of the basic ideas I've seen emphasized in other books (such as decluttering) are barely mentioned.
I found the connections (between chakras or elemental balance within the body) and feng shui that the author points out to be interesting but not a lot of detail. I may read those sections again but I doubt I'll read the book as a whole due to lack of depth.
: I liked reading this book and found it to be informative and concise in the art of Feng Shui. Very interesting to learn about energies, their properties and intent when it comes to peaceful decorating and use in the home. I will definitely use the art in my life from here on out! =D
Feng Shui Chic is filled with excellent photos and drawings. Refer to it when using yin/yang and the five elements as they relate to decor and furnishings. The section on the bagua has examples of "good" and "bad" floorplans, and how to adjust them for better flow.
