Arguably the most life changing book I read this year. I feel so much more confident in my parenting. I cried when I realized the biggest flaw in my parenting is not giving myself enough affirmations. When my kid is having a hard time, I’m quick to blame myself. I learned more effective ways to play with my kid. Instead of setting the unrealistic expectation to give him my full undivided attention 24/7, I’m going to give him attention in 10-15 minute increments. I will let him lead play more, instead of constantly trying to give him structure or ‘teach’ him stuff. I’m going to make an effort to decrease TV time because more one on one parent time, leads to a more independent kid. I learned that play isn’t an innate skill, it’s taught. I learned that 2-3 year olds have more neuron synapses than adults. I loved the visual of the parenting pyramid and the overall organization of this book. I think me and my kid are going to benefit immensely from the information in Incredible Toddlers.
The entire content of this book is not impressive by itself, but what makes this book great is that any body can take full advantage of it thanks to the many examples, note sections and summaries.
This book is not meant to sit in your library but to be used regularly.
So, if you need a workbook that can help you nail the most fundamental parenting techniques with direct and simple guidance, I do recommend it.
As a step parent to a 6 year old and a parent to two kids under 2, this book is full of useful info. I feel like a better/more equipped parent after reading this.
