When the children at school begin to realise their storybooks have had the content erased, the PJ Masks jump into action. This can only be the work of one person, Romeo. As the PJ Masks track him down, they soon discover that Romeo has a robot that his helping to erase every story in town. When Romeo reaches the library it is time to strike once and for all. The PJ Masks go into action and reverse the trend, allowing each book to have its story back. The books are saved and children will be able to visit the library again. Neo enjoys the PJ Masks and these stories parallel episodes he has been able to see. With Neo at the helm, this story flowed well and it kept his attention throughout. He continues to amaze me with his ability. Reading Super Hero Neo... I like the sounds of that!

Oh wow, that sucked (Apologies to Liz Lemon for borrowing her phrase).

We saw Catboy advertised at the end of Strega Nona and Her Tomatoes, and though we haven't seen the PJ Masks TV series, we borrowed a couple of their books from archive.org.. this was the first one.

These Ready-to-Read books are generally rough (geared towards independent reading success, not plot...), but, wow... this one!

Probably only good if your kids are already fans of the show and just want to look at their favourite characters while stumbling over the text. (For anyone who can already read, yeesh. No. Just no. And don't use it as a read-aloud, either. We borrowed a subsequent book, Battle of the HQs, and it was equally abyssmal, and not even a 'Ready-to-Read' excuse behind that crappiness, either. We still haven't finished it. The tiny audience literally walked out on it...!).

In short, NOPE, and no, I won't be subscribing to Disney+ to rot my kids' minds with this pap. We get Bluey on CBeebies (which is excellent), and somehow I've been strong-armed into recording PawPatrol from KiKAnichen/Nickelodeon (which is dreadful)... Neither of the books based on either of those shows are great, and that's quite enough crap content for one household. :S

There is a demand for early readers based on comic books and superheroes, so it was a natural that someone would adapt this series. The television version is about 6-year-old superheroes, and it's cute. Their superhero costumes really do look like superhero pajamas, and they behave like young kids, including using their powers irresponsibly or selfishly in ways that create difficulties which then need to be overcome. The problem is the conversion of this to book form.
While the story itself is cute, this version is clumsy and awkward. The illustrations are stills from the show, but not all are well-chosen. For example, there is a page where the text reads "To the library!" Gekko shouts. "We have to stop him!" Unfortunately, the illustration includes neither shout nor any action of any kind, just the three sort of standing around, looking vaguely puzzled.
Worse is that some of the text only makes sense if you are watching the episode at the same time, sort of negating the whole point of there being a book. The resolution is of the "hey, kids, we're out of pages" variety.
Disappointing.

Another PJ Mask story based on a TV episode. Once again, it is Owlette not paying attention that causes all the problems. This time, instead of being overeager like in Time to be a Hero, she's so focused on wanting to be like the hero in her book that she doesn't use the skills she has herself. Eventually she does snap out of it, but not until after several mistakes are made. As with other ready to read books, this is overly simplified and shortened for small readers.

A really simple PJ Masks story that emphasizes accepting ourselves and our own special skills.

Miss 3 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

Typical tv show story book

The plot and characters are not well developed for a book. You would have to have seen the show for any of this to make sense, which to me is not a good mark of good children's books.

Berry was definitely drawn to the book because of the familiar faces in the story, but my god, that was horribly put together! There is no setup; I thought I skipped a page between pages 1 and 2 because it was so confusing. I basically read like a play-by-play of an episode with no emotion. Pass.

You can't go wrong with licensed Ready-to -Read books. Don't expect all the storylines to make much sense though, as they cut a lot for time. Still fun. Baby boy devours them.

My Review: Munchkin loves the PJ Masks so this is a great way to get him started reading books. This is a great level one book with short sentences, fairly easy words and of course the familiar characters. This book does follow one of the TV episodes exactly, just simplified. That may help your young reader figure out some of the unknown words and draw their interest.
