When you're with Geronimo Stilton, it's always a fabumouse adventure!
My detective friend Hercule Poirat and I were headed to India. A Bollywood star we're friends with had received a valuable ruby and wanted us to help her protect it... which meant that I ended up acting in the movie she was filming! Rancid ricotta -- I'm a terrible actor! Even worse, just when we least expected it, the ruby was stolen. Could we find the thief?
Elisabetta Dami is an Italian author that currently resides in Italy. She is the author of the Geronimo Stilton series, a bestselling childrens book. She enjoys traveling the world seeking ideas for her series. She writes under a pseudonym of Geronimo Stilton. She is also a co-owner of Italian based publishing company Edizioni Piemme.
This one was a lot better than some of the earlier ones. It has a lot of interesting factoids about India and Bollywood. The annoying cousin, Trap, isn’t in it. There is some beautiful artwork, and not as many bad similes and puns.
I am an Indian and when I saw the cover of the book with an Indian lady who is a mouse wearing a saree I started laughing my lungs out, in this book Geronimo helped Hercule poirat to protect the ring, I think the thief was very dumb to trade the expensive ruby for a banana.... my favourite character was Hercule poirat as he begged Geronimo to come to India.my favourite part of this book was the trading done by a monkey as it was very funny...ha ha.ha.i also quite enjoyed the play. it was just a typical Bollywood type play or movie. it was a very fun-filled book with a shot of craziness.

Brief description: Geronimo Stilton heads to India to protect his friend Ratna’s ruby and be a lead role in Bollywood play.
Identify at least 2 characteristics of this genre and subgenre and discuss how they appear in your book: Series books end in a cliffhanger: This book doesn't end in a cliffhanger but the reader is enticed to read more Geronimo Stilton books. On the inside page of the backside cover, there is a peek at the next book in the series with a brief description of the story. Geronimo Stilton says,"Thanks for reading, and farewell till the next book." Series should have the same reading level and length, and cover to continue the comfort and familiarity found in the series: The reading level and length of stories are generally the same in the 65 or more Geronimo Stilton books. The style including pictures, bolded words in fun fonts and varied text features that children love also remain a constant.
In what ways and how well does the book as a whole serve its intended audience?: The style of this book serves its intended audience well. The color, the pictures, the bolded words, all add a layer of excitement to reading and introduces new vocabulary in an accessible way. The vocabulary and sentence structure would be appropriate for intended audience as well. However, this book was disappointing in terms of the content. I wouldn’t recommend this book to my younger readers for the following reasons. The stereotypes would not stop throughout the book. The girl rats have flirty eyelashes and their eyes are pointed up like they have makeup on. Ratna, a main character had an overall flirty and delicate attitude but Geronimo was expected to act courageous, bold and daring. At the end of the book Ratna says, “Because of you, I have felt so safe and secure these past few weeks,” which is the typical portrayal of delicate women needing protecting by men. On top of the incessant gender stereotyping, the topic of the book was about India, and the author portrayed India in a stereotypical way with Bollywood culture being centered upon. The book did include accurate information about India as well, and a map which was nice to see and surely added to the spread of content throughout the book.

It was cute, and I appreciated that it had some geography facts presented in a way that kids would enjoy. And a gentle nudge about trying new cuisines at the end, though I doubt my picky kids caught that.
I once again was feeling nostalgic so I picked up a handful of Geronimo Stilton books to read. I really liked this one especially cause it features India. These books never fail to hit the spot and I really enjoy reading them. One thing, I really need to commend the author on (the real author, not Geronimo) is how creative they were with the names. Changing everything to be mouse/rat related is a common theme but they did a really good job on this one. Turning Patel into RATel or Joshi into MOUShi is something that I wouldn't have thought of immediately but it is so creative.
Awesome read Geronimo Stilton books are one of my all time favourite series. I re read these books all time because they are short , easy and simply written. These book has a great participation in encouraging me to read more books. This book is particularly good because it has a indian touch because in this book Geronimo is travelling to India to help his friend Ratna prem accompanied by his detective friend, Hercule portrait. If you are wondering how to start reading habit in your kids ? Buy them Geronimo Stilton books .I am sure they will love it .I AM HUGE FAN OF THIS SERIES. This book is the 65 th book of this series. I adored this book .
Happy Reading friends !

This is an amazing story of Geronimo Stilton and his friends so hope you all read this book.
this book was kindaa slow to the mysterry but the mystery was pretty short at the ***. anyways i thought that the book was good and i like how ruby gracefully dances and teaches geronimo how to dance.
I'm sick so needed a bit of nostalgia and this certainly checked the box!
I'm amazed with the cultural accuracy and the details in the drawing. I also love the trope of "unwilling but swept up into adventure".
The mystery element was a bit ?? esp with a character named Hercule Poirat - but I guess it can't be controversial in the slightest due to the intended audience. Speaking of that character - he was a bit annoying - but not in a successful parody of the real Poirot (having read Christie, I think this book could've done a bit better in that regard).
Wish there was more south indian rep lmao but that's asking too much. Also to have a wedding in India and not talk about the food in detail is a crime.
Also the barrier to entry into Bollywood was so low for Stilton, but I guess that's something to do with colourism lmfao
I think this was a 5 stars when I was a child but now that I can read it so quickly and it won't stay on my mind, I think a middle of the road 3 stars is good !

Not the best Stilton I've read. This volume was trying to encompass a lot and it did a decent job, but I didn't like how manipulative and uncaring about consent Stilton's "friends" were. Have his books always been like that? When did the family quartet stop being a staple?
Anyway, there have been a lot of stories of Stilton conquering his fear and proving he can do something he was frightened to attempt. I like those. This didn't feel like one of them.
When did a Hercule Poirot parody join this ensemble? Serious question, please answer.
I own only one Geronimo Stilton book and I bought it when I was about 14 years old. And I immediately fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any other book until now. This really takes me back to my childhood. This book is educational and fun. Also a nice way to clear your head if you had just read 600 pages of novel and has a headache and are sleepy.
It's a very nice story, illustrations are great . The shows a large amount of culture including the food and garments of India. The illustrations have beautiful designs and the book itself has a great appeal.
I think that the author did an amazing job on drawing the pictures and the story line. I did think that it was obvious who the thief was but it was still good. I think that it was not realistic at all with the monkey being the robber and Geronimo being in a Bollywood film.
