I picked this up from a pile of free books at the library as an interesting coffee table book some months ago. Then yesterday I offered it to someone who's giving me her Oracle cards and I decided to check it out before I hand it over to her today. 4 hours later (no joke) I've made my way through the entire book (though I skimmed a couple sections, e.g. office space) and I'm so impressed! This is a super easy-to-read outline of the philosophies behind Feng Shui, and how & why to apply it to all areas of life. There's astrology, a bit of Taoism, the 5 elements, etc. Everything makes sense to me and seems intuitive, even the corners of things being considered "poisonous arrows." Thoroughly enjoyed the photos of beautiful lake-side cottages, outdoor garden dining rooms, conservatories, lovely bath spots, etc. This is a very deep but also simple & intuitive art. I learned a lot and I'm very inspired!

I have enjoyed this book and also thought as another reader that it is
more of a coffee table book one to pick up and put down over and over again.
I have learned quite a bit from the book that I had no idea about and found it helpful.
I have done a few of the things suggested in the book in my home and it has appeared
to help my mood and or just the environments feel on a daily basis.
I still would like to try a few more things suggested in the book and pick up again
and reread some sections and try again.
I don't know how accurate the book is and anyone who does Feng Shui but,
the book has been most helpful, fun, useful and a enjoyable read.

Really detailed guide to feng shui with lots of examples and diagrams, which my brain appreciates. I docked it a star because the font is SO SMALL OMG.

They got the title right on this one. This is a book that gives historical facts and insights while explaining the ins and outs of Feng Shui. It is instructional, easy to read and understand while maintaining a more authentic view and explanation based in historical knowledge.
While the book does supply you with the instructions it is not for a beginner that will need more advanced directions on ideas, placement and such. Because of that I would recommend reading more than just one book on the topic, and if you are still at a loss with some of your areas there is always the Internet and the option to consult a specialist.

covering a wide range of issues within feng shui, broken down into gardening, home, and office/ business. lots of beautiful pictures. a little short on examples, and really just short on most things--the problem with covering such a wide range of issues in such a relatively short and large print with many pictures book is that nothing gets thorough treatment. so sort of interesting, but not riveting. I learned a little.

I bought this book from Amazon on the recommendation of a friend. She is way into Feng Shui and said this book was the best one she'd seen in terms of finding out about feng shui and seeing if it would work for you. It's definitely interesting ready with many common sense ideas, but some off-the-wall (to me) ideas as well.

August 27, 2008I borrowed this book from a friend awhile back and decided it was time to just buy my own copy. When I used it before it really helped me think through how my rooms were arranged and helped me to get rid of clutter (as much as you can with kids). I thought it was time to re-visit this book as I feel cluttered again. So we will see.

I really enjoyed learning about my personal best directions and animal years and I appreciate the fact that the charts were all laid out for immediate use. All I had to do was look up our birthdays and it told me everything else. I have applied this knowledge to both of my son's rooms and recieved good results in each of their lives.

A great deal of astrology info that doesn't seem to fit quite right, at least to me. Covers not only the house, but the garden & office as well. It also touches on using Feng Shui for things like business meals, travel, etc. Lots of information, but occasionally seems confusing. Overall well-done, but not my favorite Feng Shui book.

Excellent illustrations, wonderful garden section, a good primer for using Feug Shui. Easy to read. Thank goodness we have a school of thought where 2019 will be better than 2018. In the Feung Shui calender it is very clear and so I look forward to good things!

Even if you don't believe in Feng Shui, it explains it in complete detail with great decorating advice along with insights in Chinese horoscopes and cardinal directions according to the Chinese elements. No other Feng Shui book combines personal chi with environmental chi so well.

The Practical Encyclopedia of Feng Shui is a great basic book with many color photographs. This book contains an excellent section about feng shui in the garden. There are several other printings of this book avaiable.

This book has like helped me center my life
But some of it is wayyy too hard core (like down to the direction each piece of furniture is facing and where your bathroom is in terms of (north,south,east,west)

A decent overview book for those looking for an introduction. It's an alright book if you've already read more in depth works on Feng Shui.

Read this book first before reading Joey Yap's series of Chinese metaphysics books. Concise and simple presentation of Feng Shui that are easily applied as non-practitioners.
