INGREDIENTS FOR A HAPPILY EVER AFTER:
1. One feisty heroine (That would be me. Hi, I'm Cassy.)
2. One deliciously hot hero (I prefer them fresh, not frozen.)
3. Passionate love (and a big fat pinch of lust!)
4. Oh, and don't forget the "Till death do us part!"
Please leave stewing for 10 minutes in deadly intrigue, stir, and then serve with hot chili sauce.
See? A very simple recipe. Nothing can possibly go wrong, right...?

About the author

Robert Thier

Robert Thier is a German historian, lover of old books and award-winning writer, whose novels and stories encompass the historical, satirical, and fantastical. For the way he manages to make the past come alive, as if he himself lived as a medieval knight, his inventive fans have given him the nickname “Sir Rob.” All of his stories are characterized by his very own brand of humor that has gained him a diverse readership ranging from teenagers to retired grandmothers.

For Robert, becoming a writer followed naturally from his interest in history. “In Germany,” he says, “we use the same word for story and history. And I've always loved the one as much as the other. Becoming a storyteller, a writer, is what I've always wanted.”

Besides writing and researching in dusty old archives, on the lookout for a mystery to put into his next story, Robert enjoys classical music and long walks in the country. The helmet you see in the picture he does not wear because he is a cycling enthusiast, but to protect his literary skull in which a bone has been missing from birth. Robert lives in the south of Germany in a small village between the three Emperor Mountains.

Musings:

Dear reader,

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I began reading this. From the man that brought you Storm and Silence you get this sarcastic, deranged, loving serial killer named Cassy. I was not expecting this. Yet I am so glad this was written.

I don’t know where Robert was suppressing this novel in his mind, but wherever this came from it was brilliant. It brought a smile to my face. The implications of a animal loving serial killer bringing a smile to my face is a fact that I’m going to have to deal with. Either way this book is amazing and I’m going to tell you why.

What I Loved:

The hilarity of it. Some things in this book are so outlandish that while it makes little sense it then makes a lot of sense. Cassidy has such a luck with finding unique, interesting, and gorgeous men that it is insane. The fact they all end up dead is beside the point.

An animal loving, cat caring, martial artist, veterinarian, happy go lucky, and quite lucky, serial killer. Cassidy is something else. I admire her. Thinking about all the things that makes Cassy…. Cassy is a mind bender. She is oddly justified in everything she does. You root for her. Wish that you were her. Yet the ease in how she kills starts to grow on you. It’s kinda alarming.

I’m simply in awe at this story. It’s one of those books that makes your mouth hang open the entire time. Sometimes your thinking WTH did I just read? Other times your so into the story that anytime Cassy does something you feel like you have to shout into the world “HELL YEAH!”

Oddly seem-less. From one odd situation to the next the way Cassy progresses through her life and becomes who she becomes is seem-lees and at the same time a whirl wind. You look back on it and think how did we get from here to here, but when you slow it down and see the play by play it makes sense and I admire this book for that.

The romance is great! You root for Cassy and every single guy she falls for. You want them to have a perfect romance and you want the guy to not cheat and keep his vows. The wooing parts of this book are like mini fun adventures. So well done!

It’s not repetitive. You would think a story that falls on a pattern would be repetitive, but it’s not AT ALL. It’s always exciting and fresh. It always gets your heart pounding. There is always something to love. Plus it has enough twists along the way to always keep you on your toes. That’s just how well written this book is.

All In All:

Reader,

I can’t really explain how much this author’s works mean to me. I can’t explain how many days have gone by where one of his chapters has brought a smile to my face. I may have not expected Black Diaries to have ever existed, but it achieved so many smiles to come across my face and I think for a book like this, that is what is most important. I hope you take on Cassy wacky and incredible story. It’s a free read. So please. Check it out!

With love,

This book is unbelievably flat.

The main character is quick to fall in love and also quick to grab her knife, doesn't understand jokes and is a tad delusional. That is her entire personality.

While her being a serial killer should've added excitement, instead it serves to creare more boring, flat characters as the romance between them is glossed over (the first few meetings with Chuck were barely mentioned so you feel nothing for him) and they die before they can develop.

The plot is completely riddled with holes. There is not one thing in the plot that makes sense apart from "im angry at husband, i kill". Alright, it's a humour book so it should get some allowances, right? Yes, and even then there's far too many. There is no tension in the book because somehow the main character is overwhelmingly powerful, everyone in the world is so shockingly stupid, and all the characters have no personality.

This book was a chore to read. I typically like the author's works.

[A very late review]

I'm not a fan of the themes of the book, so in many parts of the story were quite iffy to read. I had gone through with it though because of Sir Rob's writing style. As far as I've read his previous works, this is where his literary sense of humour shine. So, basically, although it's based on modern chick-lit with a dark side, it's mostly all for laughs and giggles. Don't take the book too seriously, although it does make you pulling hairs along the way. In short, it's not my cup of tea but I enjoyed it anyway.

Even if the story in itself is rather original, I found myself bored because of the repetitive plot and the lack of evolution in our main character. A lot of plot holes to consider and an obscure unsubstantial plot welcomed me with open arms.

I liked the book and it was different from books I usually read. The story line was quite repetitive with her eventually killing her husbands. Although, the act of her killing is repetitive it's because she is a serial killer and to be fair there was always a plot twist that was not expected. The final chapter was a really good cliffhanger but I wish I got more closure and character development.

Sir Rob's writing is flawless and hilarious as always, but the psychotic things that went through in this book were really a lot of handle. Maybe because I read it when I was young idk but so many themes of death written so sadistically and humourously? Props to the author damn

Well I liked this book well enough, but the plot was repetitive and it didn’t seem like any development was happening. The premise is interesting, so for readers who like darker, killer books, I would recommend this. As for me, someone who steers far away from these type of books, I enjoyed this and was caught in suspense plenty of times. The plot twist was great and the ending was suitable, so all in all, it’s a book worth reading.

I do love Robert Their’s Storm and Silence series, sand the writing style is obviously the same between these, so no complaints there. Definitely check out his other books too!

I loved how Cassy was always true to herself. However I did find the storyline a bit repetitive about halfway through and it was hard to finish. By the time there was 10 chapters left, I only finished it to see what would happen in those 10 chapters. I was right and wrong, and at the same time dissatisfied and satisfied.

DNF @ 30%... maybe?

Don't get me wrong, this was an amazing story, at least up till where I've read. I laughed hard, and I absolutely agreed with Cassy in a morbid way, even with her weird personality, and her strange logic of killing off her husbands to protect the sacred vows that she'd taken.

Jesus, she was like a woman in white, to quote Supernatural! Murdering unfaithful men along the way, only here, all the unfaithful men were the ones who had betrayed her! The thing is, it was just too weird to see that she was married and husband-less twice at the age of... twenty three? I don't remember. I had to stop at man #4 in her life, Mr. Elijah. Although I didn't read much about him, and I dropped the novel before they had their first date, I still wanted to know what happened next. Or rather, I wanted to know what happened at the end, because I couldn't bear to think about all of the casualties along the way.

See, here I was, with man #4, at chapter 27, and Wattpad said there were a total of 89- almost 90- chapters in this book. God, I couldn't even fathom the number of people Cassy got together with - and ultimately murdered. Though, that 'murdered' part was the least of my concerns, judge me all you want.

What I hated, absolutely detested, was that in all those 27 chapters, each man in Cassy's life was detailed so well. I could almost see each guy in my mind, and swear I'd known him for years. Their personality was so well outlined. And each time a new guy came in Cassy's life, I fell in love with him. Each one of them. Every time. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. And at the end when Cassy killed them, I was like, 'Noo! You can't! It's him! No! Please! Find out some other way to get back at him!' And then a new guy would come into her life, and I'd fall in love with him even more, and then the same thing would happen all over again.

I had to stop at #4 Elijah, because here was this strapping billionaire extraordinaire, the most eligible bachelor, handsome as f, and absolutely capable of becoming my next book boyfriend. And I realized I couldn't do it. I couldn't watch him die. I couldn't go through the cycle again. And again. And again.

And even though the book made me laugh out loud soo many times, I had to take a break. Put this book on the back burner, and read other books in the meantime. After reading a couple of ones with completely different genres, I realized I would never go back to this book. This fear of falling in love with the men in Cassy's life was real, and bound to happen. And I've always been uncomfortable with death of characters whom I fall in love with. And this is Sir Rob here. Of course he would create characters who we'd beg to meet us in a dark alley and maul us any way they like. *wink, wink*

Therefore, I couldn't do it. I couldn't even get through half of it, because I'd rather not know about someone rather than love them and watch them die. Hence, this is one of the first books that I've dnf-ed, because I liked the characters way too much!
