Although the Siren’s downfall was necessary, it also brought about a growing divide between Lillian and Gregory. However, personal matters will have to wait, for there is a more immediate concern which must be dealt with first.
Human authorities are now aware that something equally as intelligent but far more deadly shares their world, and Lillian’s hometown has been placed under quarantine. To her dismay, it is not just a "guns in the woods, boots on the ground" kind of hunt. Scientists are spearheading this pursuit. Lillian soon learns she and Gregory are their intended targets.
And this just might be one hunt her gargoyle protector is ill prepared for.
Author's Note: Sorceress Hunting was previously published as Stone’s Divide and was part of the Urban Fantasy series called The Avatars.
The Gargoyle and Sorceress novels have a continuing story arc and should be read in order: Sorceress Found (prequel short story) Sorceress Awakening Sorceress Rising Sorceress Hunting Sorceress at War
Lisa Blackwood is the USA Today bestselling author of the Gargoyle and Sorceress Urban Fantasy series. She and her new co-author, S.M. Schmitz, are also embarking upon a new Space Opera Romance series. Book one is titled, Vengeance: Warships of the Spire. It can be found in the Dominion Rising boxset anthology.
As well as writing, Lisa is also an avid gardener, horse enthusiast, and dog lover. She grudgingly lives in a small town in Southern Ontario, though she would much rather live deep in a dark forest, surrounded by majestic old-growth trees. Since she cannot live her fantasy, she decided to write fantasy instead. Freya, her ever faithful and beloved hellhound, ensures Lisa takes breaks from the computer so they can rid the garden of cats with delusions of conquest.
I recommend starting with Dawn of the Sorceress, Sorceress Awakening, and then Sorceress Rising before reading this. The background is quite important to full enjoyment of this book. I like the writing style, the characters, the storyline and the descriptions. These may not be to everyone's taste, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
This continues the adventures and romance of Lillian (Dryad, Gargoyle, Sorceress, Avatar) and Gregory (Gargoyle, Protector, Avatar). With Tethy's sacrifice, the Riven have been destroyed. But all the magic has alerted Canadian and United States military that something unusual is going on. Investigations put the fae and Coven at risk of discovery. The Lady of Battles is still scheming, and her Commander Gryton is on the scene; but he seems to have his own agenda. Lillian is pregnant, and her brother Shadowlight has a new human pet. Corporal Anna Mackenzie, the pet, is not too happy about it; but he did save her from being converted to a Riven, and then saved her from dying of injuries sustained in the big battle. Gryton sets his nefarious scheme in action, and it takes the combined efforts of the fae, Coven, gryphons, Avatars and hamadryad to foil his plot. The hamadryad's solution to the situation takes everyone by surprise. To be continued...
So many twists and turns it held me enthralled until the last word. With the battle for their freedom and Earth's future in the balance Lillian and Gregory fight for their lives as well as their family. Now the humans are embroiled in the war against the Lady of Battle's general. And something is going on with Lillian's hamadryad on Earth. This series has the speed of action and intelligent mingling of the actual with the imagination. A gifted storyteller, this author is definitely on my list of must reads.
The Sorceress and her Gargoyle have brought together all of the Fae. It is a pitched battle to end the Riven, but that is not the end. There is worse evil out there and they need to end it.
This book is a story of pitched battles, tender inter-species contact, and a coming together of the good against the evil.
Definitely it will pull you in many directions and then leave you with an unwanted cliff hanger plus many unanswered questions. Hated that ending, but the rest was quite good.
Sadly, I'll be putting the rest of the series on the shelf because I couldn't get into book 3. Got about a third way through the book but it just didn't resonate with me. The characters weren't as strong as in the other books and I thought this story kind of wishy washy and a bit confusing.
However, just remember that's only my opinion. If you're reading the whole series, still give book 3 a go because we don't all like the same thing.
Lots of times sequels are a sorry following to the original story, but not in this case. The adventure continues unabated, with superior magic, war and unexpected alliances. I was completely captivated!
Sorceress Hunting (A Gargoyle and sorceress Tale Book 3)
Well so far the end of the 3rd book of this series man I am glad I found this series, it is good and just getting better with the story and the characters really enjoying every page...
Wow...just wow!! Book three of the A Gargoyle and Sorceress Tale certainly delivers! From the growing romance to the antics of the child gargoyle Shadowlight, it's an exciting and fun read. And what an ending!!!
Wow! Each book keeps getting better. The final battle was so suspenseful and then the twist at the end? I did not see that coming and was so on edge I bought the next book so I could see what would happen.
Lillian meets her mother, father, and brother. Things go really crazy in this book. The hymadrayd tree allows the Battle Goddess' Warrior to come to the Mortal Realm.
Lillian is pregnant. Gryton has come to the Mortal Realm, a human is given Gryphon blood, and now humans are working with the gryphons? Plenty of action in this book, with a great plot and characters. Loved it
Oooh! I love where this book has gone! I love all the twists and turns that showed up. I don’t like Gryton, obviously. I really enjoyed the story between Shadowlight and Anna. The ending...ooo...that was unexpected. Off to read the next book!
I loved reading how this group of magical creatures fought evil. Then when even something more evil came about and they became allies with humans to fight it this got even more interesting. Now however there are two sorceress’s and the adventure continues.
The author kept me wondering what will happen next with all the twists and turns ,can’t wait to read the next book to see where Lillian and Gregory go from here
Activity really ramps up in this book! We get to meet Cpl Anna and learn about her bond with Lillian’s little brother. Ends with a literal big reveal that will upset everything!
I feel like some of the rules have been bent so that this story could be created. I’m unsure of how I feel about continuing the series. The ending completely sucked! True, I despise cliffhangers, but this one is more Twilight Zone than warranted. 🤷🏻♀️Not in a rush to start the next book.
Just when you think things in the human world couldn't get any stranger, they do. Gregory and Lillian have their work cut out for them, along with Gran and the others. The humans, or military I should say, have gone past the point of suspicion and a new enemy has crossed over from the realm where the Battle goddess resides. It will take formidable allies to to defeat this foe, but will they have the strength and magic behind them to accomplish such a feat? Not to mention, there's even greater things at work behind the scenes in the Mother Sorceress. This is one series you don't want to pass up! Lisa Blackwood's fascinating tale of gargoyles, dryads, and all things fae, tell a completely unique story of magical realms and how they came to be. It's a must-read series. 5 magical stars!
Human authorities are aware of non-human goings on in the area after the end of the Siren. The area is crawling with scientists and military forces and even worse the people at the spa including Lillian and Gregory are under suspicion.
Will their secret stay the safe and will Lillian and Gregory's relationship withstand the pressure? There is even more trouble on the way and they will all have to fight to the limits of their powers to come out of it.
Great story. Very well told and clearly written. I liked some of the plot developments although I found the Shadowlight/Anna situation a little slow and it lost my attention at one point - however I'm glad I didn't give in as the ending of this book was action packed.
This is the third book of this series. As much as I enjoyed the first two books, I think this is my favorite so far. It’s Lillian and Gregory’s continuing story--a dryad and her protector gargoyle, who are also soul mates. Now they have two problems to deal with—avoid and/or fight the military searching for them, and fight General Gryton, the Battle Goddess’ minion from the Magic Realm. Besides these challenges, Lillian is without her magic since defeating the Siren in Book 2. This story didn’t end anything like I expected. Talk about a cliffhanger! Therefore, I can hardly wait for the next book. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and would recommend it to everyone.
Just when things can't get any worse the military & scientists decide to quarantine the town as they know there is something not quite human about some of the population they are just not sure how un-human some are or how many . The best laid plans often go wrong or in Lillain's case almost always go wrong . Forced into an alliance the humans & the coven & fae decide to fight a mutual enemy rather than each other . another book full of twists & enough action to keep any reader happy , very unexpected shock for all at the end of this book
What an amazing book! I could not believe the ng? To say it was a shock, is putting it mildly. People, you just have to read these books! What is in store for them now that WE know about them? I had to finish reading it, even after I had eye surgery. I couldn't put it down. The action is non-stop and better than some action in other books because it is different kind of action. You never know what is going to happen. Please hurry with the next book!
This book is getting deeper and deeper into complex territories, with very little of the other complexities being solved or answered. It's becoming a little frustrating to have more and more issues for 'The Goddess' and her Hunting Shadow to face, with very little to no resolution being given. I want to read the next one, just to solve the huge "WHAT THE HECK" that the ending gave us, but at the same time... what the heck.
I love gargoyles. This one made more sense than the first two. Or maybe it took that long to piece the story together. The complexity of the series is confused by little explanation and sudden events. The magic is still vague and that was frustrating. A lot of this book is from the POV of other characters. I'm giving up on the series even though there is a whopping cliffhanger.
Wow! What a ride of events and all the action, pain, and emotions ; this book had? This series was just awesome as the characters were just as fantastic? I can hardly wait for the next book to see what happens between, Gregory and Lillian, now that the sorceress has emerged.
The secret is out to the human authorities. A dangerous person shows up and Lillian's hamadryad is keeping secrets. We get more development of Shadowlight.
The character interactions and overall action keeps it interesting. The ending leaves you ready and wanting the next (and final) book.
