Собственного «Робокопа» издательство Marvel придумало еще в 1974 году. Полковник Лютер Мэннинг, военспец из Детройта, погибает в теракте и возвращается с того света в пост-апокалиптическом 1990-м году. В этой версии будущего Нью-Йорк лежит в руинах, по его улицам бродят банды каннибалов, остатки горожан ютятся в лагере на Лонг-Айленде, американский президент убит, страной правят военные и мегакорпы, а воскресший Мэннинг - всего лишь киборг по имени Деслок, непонятным образом сохранивший свободу воли и собственные воспоминания.
Написан онгоинг 1974 года невероятно новаторски и кинематографично. Мы привыкли, что даже в современных комиксах герои телепортируются из панели в панель, меняя только одну пафосную позу на другую. Но здесь сценарий настолько плотный и детальный, что ты невольно залипаешь и следишь за сюжетом, будто за хорошим телесериалом. К сожалению, у этой плотности есть и свой минус. Уже к середине «ашетовского» томика мозг устаёт, а рука тянется захлопнуть книгу и убрать её на полку. И это очень печально, ведь во второй половине - все лучшие твисты. Безумный майор Райкер окончательно уходит в сингулярность, а в истории появляются новые персонажи и свежие проблемы.

This is the first of this collection that I couldn't be bothered finishing, which is only fitting because I stopped by the comics early on in the series when they first came out.
Reasons:
1. The concept was old then, for a long-term science fiction reader. It is now severely outdated.
2. The main character is supposed to be a military strategist. Having made this claim, the writers made him one of the least strategic characters I've ever read.
3. The setting, which is post apocalyptic, isn't explained and seems to be just an excuse for random encounters with cannibals who seem exceedingly well-dressed for the circumstances.
Nope. Onto the next one in the series and hoping for something a lot better.

Le perso et l'univers sont sympa mais ca part dans tout les sens et c'est pas super simple à suivre.

Post-Apocalyptic science fiction here. I knew of Deathlok with bits and bobs growing up and a random figure (which I wish I still had) but this shows so much more to this interesting character.
Think Robocop with a style of schizophrenia with an almost love/hate buddy driven narrative as the human side argues with the computer side in his on going quest for revenge.
Fighting off cannibals and the army in this futuristic world with a fair amount of violence and wit this is a great character.
