When life gives you lemons, it’s time for shots of tequila.
That’s my new saying in life, and trust me, life has handed me lots of lemons. My name is Danielle DeChenne, and for eighteen years I took every punch “destiny” threw at me. Now I’m no longer a naive girl. Traumatic abuse will do that to you. I was forced to grow up too fast, and the one person I depended on—that gorgeous Marine, Zane—turned his back on me. So now I say screw the lemonade and just give me a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, because I don’t believe in destiny anymore.
There is no pre-destined path set out for each of us. That crap doesn’t exist. Sometimes bad things happen…it’s just how the world works. It sucks, but you have to pick yourself up and get on with your life. Even if it’s an impossible task.
I’m done sitting around and waiting for my life to change or something good to fall in my lap. It took me awhile to understand, but once I stopped being the doormat for destiny, it was time for me to take control. Now I decide where I go in life and what will happen. It won’t always be pretty, it will sometimes hurt like hell, but I will make sure I live my life to the fullest…
Then the gorgeous Marine from my past returned with a vengeance—except this time, I was ready for him. It's time to rewrite destiny.
FIGHTING DESTINY #2-
With a dark past of abuse, Toby Smith full-on raged against life. After years of neglect from his junkie mother, Toby turned to the one thing that made his fury go away—mixed martial arts. Now, as an adult, he lives and breathes his training club and fighting, inside or outside of the cage. But when a mousy blonde walks into his gym for a self-defense class he's teaching, that all fades away.
Sara Carmichael was always a doormat—until the day she took her life back. Struggling to cope with years of physical and emotional abuse from a boyfriend, things take a turn for the worse. Drunk and in rare form, he nearly violates her in unspeakable ways. So she leaves and escapes from New York to California, hoping it’s far enough away that he won't find her.
When Sara and Toby meet, they never expected it would be in a sweaty gym. When they are together, Toby feels things he can’t understand. But when Sara’s past clouds their present, will she be strong enough to defend her new life? Or will Toby snap and become the man she’s always feared? It’s one thing to fight for love, but it’s another when you’re…Fighting Destiny.
DEFYING DESTINY #3-
Twenty-six-year-old Louie Creighton knows there is something inside him he can’t control…
Ever since he can remember, Louie has had a short fuse. People always said he’d amount to nothing. He wasn’t smart enough to get into college. He wasn’t tough enough to be a Marine. No one believed in him. No one except his father, Mike Creighton…
Louie’s father always taught him to turn the other cheek. He was a true mentor, teaching him how to be a man in a world of cowards. But when his father is murdered the day after scratching a winning lottery ticket, Louie’s inner monster can’t be contained. He becomes determined to track down the suspect at any cost. All along, he struggles to live by his father’s motto—To find out what you live for, you have to discover what you’d die for. Then he meets Harlow McPherson…
Her entire life has been a battle. Harlow grew up in the system, bouncing from one foster home to the next. Most weren’t that bad, but some were hell.
This was a kindle lending library freebie, and I gave it a shot, because of the reviews, and because it was about an MC. Having said that, the first book spent way to much time sharing the H/hs' backgrounds, which were tedious, and immature. The flow was all choppy, and it had a very amateur feel to it, with way too much superfluous, and frankly, boring detail. Only the last few chapters feature the MC and romance between the main characters.
Despite my disappointment in the 1st book, I managed to get to book 2, and read just a handful of chapters, rolling my eyes, again, at the poor flow, and immaturity of the main characters. The progression of the sexual relationship was unrealistic in light of the female character recent escape from an abusive relationship. The rapid cycling of emotions reminds me of adolescent romance, at it's most aggravating....reminded me of a bipolar 17 yr old, who is drinking Red Bull to self-medicate.
Clearly, not my cup of tea, which may be a generational thing. It's an MC romance series that needs to grow up. I just don't have the patience for it. It might work for others, but not this old chick.
There are three books and a novella in this boxed set and each one left me wanting to know more about the men and women of The Forsaken Sinners MC. The men are strong, determined alpha males who protect their women, children and brothers. The women, each have their own strengths and they love their men and the men and women of the club with their whole beings. These men and women would lay down their lives for their friends, lover or brothers. Each couple has disused they must overcome and coming to terms with each other's personalities. I love these characters and have to say that there were a few times tears formed or I had a lump in my throat. I will definitely be reading any and all books in this series. I can not get enough of these characters.
I read into the wee hours night after night, trying to complete the three stories. Each character and each story were filled with love emotions, tragedy, and triumph. Shelley Morgan rights with passion and purpose. You have to read these books.
If you enjoy MC, which I do, then this is a great one. Lots of MC club stuff and friends n family too. This series made me anxious, had me smiling, and everything in between. Can't wait for the next book about Tyke! Ty and keep up the great writing.
Okay set of books but if things can go wrong they go wrong big time. Characters were okay and storyline was just okay. I’d not go looking for more from this author.
Once again we have an author who can’t write a paragraph- without using the F—k word. And I know a lot of bikers whose mouths are not as foul as this woman, the FMC. I had to stop reading after she was. . . and she became a biker chick.
Brilliant series! This is everything I want in a series - brilliant story lines + characters. All the books are completely different and intrinsically linked by the mc. This series isn't massively based around mc rather than the characters story which works really well. Haven't read this author b4 so didn't know what to expect - self one of my favourites this year!
This is so far a great series. Book1 it was slow at first no lie. Then when dani met the boys it changed. Then with a former love interest comes back into her life all bets where off. She had something she became the princess of the mc. She lost a lot and could kick the boys a$$. Book2 It was different sara I liked her story she was more grounded. And with having someone who could keep her on her toes was great as well toby was written very well. The twists were great. Action was amazing as well. Book3 I felt sorry for low she was just as broken as Louie. They made The perfect couple. They caught harder to be together. And all the tension between all the characters was good too it made the story more epic in a way. Book4 This was a good short book could have longer. But it had a good slow and twists. Great series over all can't wait for the next book. The author created a great world with twists action and tasteful sex
What a great series to sink your teeth into. I highly enjoyed reading about a kid growing up sheltered and finding their own. Then moving onto adjusting to a hard life after tragedy after tragedy. After they find themselves the past comes back to haunt them. As an adult can they cope with it? Find out in this series. Book 2 keeps you in the life of the first book but adds more to the history of some of the people that helped in the 1st book. It keeps getting better. Keep a watch out for short fuses and insta-love. Book 3 just went nuclear!! Oh wow how did that happen? Keep reading for more emotional background and plot twists to keep you on your toes!! Book 4 is just great. An insiders life to maybe start the next book??? Who knows? Keep a watchful eye out for the future of Jax maybe?
Keep up the good work Shelly Morgan and I will read all you put out there. You have a new fan now.
This series was wonderful. This set has Zane and Dani's (Danielle) story, Toby and Sara's story, Louie and Harlow's story, and the fourth book in this series was about what happened with Dani's pregnancy. All stories had me laughing and crying. There were a few spots that refers to abuse. All spelling, punctuation, and grammar was good. Out of all four books in this series I have to say my favorite is Dani and Zane's story. I highly recommend this series.
I was altitude skeptical at first because it started out with Dani as a young girl and followed her and Zane growing up. Having to deal with a lot of stuff before finding themselves again. Once the story progressed, I couldn't put it down! Great read look forward to more!
4.5 stars -- the book about Louie and Harlow is not as good as the others in my opinion - but as a whole this series is really awesome -- so glad I read it. Will make sure I keep an eye out for this author's work.
Love this series! Every book is awesome! I suggest you read the last book before book 3 (defying destiny) when you are reading this series in this book! Love the book and fixing to read Macks story!
What a fabulous books took me 3 days and late nights ;) to finish it and it was worth it :) if you like bikers then you will love this , God I'm gutted it finish ;(
I have love this series right from the first chapter. These books are full of surprises with some twists thrown in. Full of emotions that make you feel as though you are part of the story. I laughed, I cried and I got frustrated a time or two. Shelly Morgan was a new author for me but I am so pleased I decided to get this box set. I highly recommend this series.
