Knight Security #2

Challenging Gabriel

Rate this book
Challenging Gabriel (Knight Security 2) is the 3rd story in USA Today Bestselling author, Carole Mortimer’s, new contemporary series, Knight Security. This is a spin-off series to the #1 Bestselling Alpha Series.

Author’s Note: The stories in the Knight Security, Alpha, and Regency Unlaced Series have stronger sexual content and language than my other books.

When Angel’s son is taken there is only one man she can turn to for help. Gabriel Knight, CEO of Knight Security. Unfortunately he’s also the last man she should go anywhere near, ever again. He’s hard and cynical, utterly ruthless, and the last time the two of them met did not end well.

When Angel Sinclair walks back into Gabriel’s life, utterly beautiful, and just as much of a threat as ever to his ordered life, his first instinct is to tell her to leave and never come back.

But no matter what happened between the two of them in the past, or how badly it ended, Gabriel isn’t cold enough to turn his back on Angel when she explains her son, Daniel, has been kidnapped. She has been warned not to go to the police, and given a limited time to give the kidnapper what he wants. If she fails to follow either of those instructions she will never see Daniel again.

Can the two of them forget the hurts of the past, and work together to save the life of an innocent seven year old boy?

8 yrs separation with a kid is too long. I blame the Zero on this one, he didn’t contact her after his mission and he never tried to find the heroine. And he is supposed to be this special ops badass.. pft

FINAL DECISION:  Nice story that was a good one time read.  I liked the characters and their story although the short format meant that it was a bit rushed.

THE STORY:  Eight years ago, Gabriel Knight fell for a young beauty Angel.  The two only had weeks together before he had to go to Afghanistan to save his brother.  By the time he had returned, Angel was gone.  Now she walks back into his life, married and with a seven year old son.  She desperately wants Gabriel's help in locating and rescuing her son who is being held by her estranged husband.

OPINION:  This story was good.  There was nothing terrible original about the story, but I enjoyed the characters and their interactions.  For a short story, I thought that the character's journey was handled well and I liked and was interested in them.  Yes, things were resolved too quickly and too easily, but this is a novella and that is almost always the case with such a short story.

I thought that the romance between Gabriel and Angel was good.  The two had chemistry and were able to handle the love lost, secrets revealed story with an interesting twist.  I liked these two.  When my biggest complaint is that I wish there story was longer, I give it a win.

WORTH MENTIONING:  This is a short novella.  It also sets up the next book in the series.

CONNECTED BOOKS:  CHALLENGING GABRIEL is book 2 in the Knight Security series.  It can be read as a standalone as you don't need to know anything about

STAR RATING:  I give this novella 3.5 stars. This review was originally posted on Top10RomanceBooks.com

Challenging Gabriel by Carole Mortimer.
4 out of 5 stars.
This installment of the Knight Security series revolves around Gabriel Knight, CEO of Knight Security and oldest brother, and Angela Sinclair.
Eight years previously, Gabriel and Angel, as she was known then, were together, right up until Gabriel had to go away on one of his classified black-ops missions. He couldn't tell her where he was going or to do what, but assumed she would be there when he came back. She wasn't.
After having her heart broken, Angel found a reason to carry on living. She also found a new man willing to marry her, but eight years later, that has come back to bite her in the ass and now she has to go and ask the very man who broke her heart for his help. It's just that she also has to tell him a few other things too.
I would recommend this book to others interested in alpha males, security firm stories, and rocky romances.

The Superhero And The Angel

Lots of tension. More if a mystery. Gabriel and Angel came together again after 8 years apart. She needs help. The whole family pitches together to sort out the mess. There is nothing romantic about the intimacy scenes between the two despite the love between them. Can't say no cheating. You'll understand when you read the story. No cliffhangers, overall quality of writing was good and you get a happy ever after.

Lost and found

Gabriel and Angel were reunited after eight years in this romantic suspense novel. Both were stubborn , independent, and emotionally distant. They had to learn to communicate and trust each other--emotionally, as well as in the face of the danger they faced.
