This book is aimed at the majority of us who live in terraced houses, high rise flats, town houses and semi-detached properties with a small garden and often nowhere to grow but the patio. It shows how to make the most of pots and planters; how to plan for a reasonable yield; and how never to run out of at least something to special eat.
You might not have all the space in the world, but you can enjoy all the flavour in the world. With the step-by-step instructions in this book you will be able to grow, nurture and harvest your own fruit, vegetables and herbs in a range of pots and containers, including recycled ones such as plastic milk bottles, and kitchen sinks.
Has some useful information, but unless you are new to gardening it will probably provide little new information. Some good information on individual plants, but did not stress best varieties for containers.
This was a useful little volume! It’s perhaps one of the best container gardening books I’ve read, and I suppose because it’s dedicated to growing in pots (and other planters) in small spaces, rather than trying to get you to do raised bed gardening or telling you that you need a certain amount of space in which to grow anything. Instead the author applauds you for wanting to try to grow your on food, and realistically tells you how to do so.
I found this refreshing in assuming no knowledge about gardening. We're moving house soon and I really want to grow food, so I found this useful. Looking forward to making use of it when we have our garden!
I'm a garden noob so hopefully this helps. It's specifically for the English person/climate but most of it is adaptable to my area. Has a cool plant-by-plant guide in the second half for reference.
