Enter into sleep peacefully with this book of relaxing meditations.
Moonlight Gratitude provides spiritual passages and words, such the one below, that guide you through a calming nighttime meditation.
"As the moon casts its silvery glow across the water, the ocean moves and responds to its pull. The tides rise and fall with the cycles of the moon. Be like the ocean; fluid and forgiving. Wash away whatever is holding you back. Forgive others and let go of the pain. Release all bitterness. Allow your breath to become rhythmic like the waves upon the shore as you drift off into a peaceful slumber. Breathe in forgiveness, breathe out bitterness."
Moonlight Gratitude is not a sleep exercise book. It instead increases your awareness and understanding of your mind at night so you can fall asleep with a peaceful, thoughtful mindset.
Emily is the author of 5 books, Moonlight Gratitude, Find Your Glow Feed Your Soul, and Sunrise Gratitude, which was named in “10 Books That Might Just Change Your Life Right Now.”
Her latest book, Sunset Gratitude, is full of evening meditations to help readers find hope when going through difficult times.

When most people think of meditation, they think of it as a morning practice. I, personally, had only been doing transcendental meditation with Sanskrit mantras in the morning, in order to quiet my mind. It never really occurred to me to find a different kind practice at night (or even practice at all) until a friend told me of this and what it had done for her. I had already been searching for a good 365-day meditation practice book when I came across Moonlight Gratitude. The author has managed to not only make sleeping more peaceful, but also provides us with powerful, descriptive, positive reminders that we should all live by. I 100% recommend this book for absolutely anyone and everyone. Whether you practice or not, these mantras are great reminders of how we should look at/live life.
I love this book of meditations. I'm always looking for ways to help me unwind after a full day and have added this book into my nighttime routine. Silva paints lovely pictures with her words, making it easy to visualize, relax and drift off to sleep. Each nightly passage I read offers the guidance and positivity needed to center my thoughts and quiet my mind. This book is beautiful, cover to cover.
The meditations in this book are very much meant to be read/experienced just before going to sleep. There are a few repetitive themes, but you get enough variety to reflect on life throughout the year and center yourself for rest. Honestly, I think you could also use them as journaling prompts (or at least inspirations) if you're inclined to write before bed.
It's something quite nice to read before bed, and puts your brain in the right headspace for sleep (even if you don't end up sleeping @me). It's really quite lovely. Even though I'm technically reading it still, I'm going to go ahead and mark it read since it's a passage-a-day book.
I have owned this book for over two years. The first year I bought it I was not good at being able to read the nightly meditations every evening. I was on the road a lot and didn't take the book with me. In 2020 the pandemic hit and halted travel keeping me home for the entire year. The good news was that I got to make sure I was able to read the meditations consistently for 365 days.
The meditations are written to follow the cycles of the moon and seasons. With everything that went down in 2020 many of the meditation days aligned exactly with the emotions I was feeling that day. There were some I reread and slowed down to really digest their meaning. Those days reading the meditation helped me to remember that no matter what was happening outside things would be okay and I could get through the darker days.
I may not have read Moonlight Gratitude when I first bought it, but it's okay because I read it in a year I needed it the most. Now I have a new appreciation for it's words and will not be so easily to shelf it so that I can go back and reread some of my favorite meditations.
It’s helping me. This is really helping me every night. And since I am (& is continually doing so) reading this ᵈᵃᶦˡʸ I’m going to mark Read. *shrugs*
This past year was rough for me. I’ve been really sad, stressed, tired, & sometimes apathetic. I still am but this is one of my self-help ideas I’m dedicated to performing for myself. It’s helping. Did I already say that? Because it’s surprisingly difficult for these things to impress me with their advice.
I’m going to buy another copy when this one begins to fall apart. I don’t think the ebook would be nearly as impressive.
~~~~~~ Physical copy:
The book is a beautiful thing. Holographic or just shimmering? cover details. The pages are thick enough for reuse for another year or so. Nice artwork. The paper isn’t stark white, I assume on purpose, and it’s brilliant because it’s easy to read but not glaring—as another book page would be. Relaxing.
Overall:
Easygoing but seriously efficient use of the space given for the daily meditation prompts. Healthy advice. Inner strength is number one.
I saw that someone had this book in a photo on my tea club site. I love the moon, so I had to order it. It has inspired me to create a beautiful moon garden. Each evening, I would sit in my moon garden, drink Cuddletime tea, and read the pages in this book. Such a calming, restful ritual. This book is so very inspiring and heart warming. It’s a silent retreat, a respite from the world, a healing journey.
I was given this book as a gift from my sister, and have loved it ever since. Reading these gentle, thoughtful entries before bed each night brings a sense of calm throughout my entire being. When I haven't read it in a while, it's a book that I can pick right back up and add to my nightly routine again. There is always something fresh and new to learn from its author, Emily Silva. Also, the illustrations are gorgeous! Highly recommend this title and have given it to many friends as gifts.
DNF. I thumbed through this, every day has a couple sentences to help calm your mind and guide you toward gratitude. It’s like an Oracle deck, but in book form. I prefer an actual Oracle deck, with a picture gif each reading. This one was a bit bland for me.
Outstanding read, each entry is for the day and month of the year, I recommend reading one entry each night just before going to sleep - wonderful and meaningful way to end the day.
This book is simply beautiful. It is a collection of 365 meditations that are perfect for soothing and quieting your mind after a long day. I find myself drifting off to sleep a little quicker since I started using this book. It will probably always be on my nightstand, but the cover art and the lovely photographs and illustrations throughout the book would be just as at home on my coffee table. As I said, simply beautiful!
Really good book with reflections and words of peace. I didn't agree with everything, but I would go back to it if I needed something to help ease my mind or remind me that things aren't so bad as they may seem.
I read this every night and find my gratitude during this past year to be immensely real. Love this enough to gift this book, and to purchase the author’s other books.
