boey is a malaysian animator/artist/author and a TED award recipient best known for his art on foam cups. he has written 5 books, and they are pretty good, he thinks.
Too expensive for my liking. So I just borrowed it. There are lots of great ideas here and there. Many funny ones. A few got me confused. Compared to the first three books, the layout job of this one seemed lazy. On some pages, the illustrations are suddenly blown up. Why not retain the consistency similar to the previous entries? That being said, what's with the rise in price tag? If there's a book 5, I predict it's gonna be MYR40.
just like book 1, 2 and 3, book 4 was just as awesome. Pages 169-171 really cracked me.
I advice that you read this book in private or you might just appeal to others as someone not-so-sound... Because you may not be able to contain ur laughter at times.
This compilation of memories ropes in more stories with the author's extended family that are equally entertaining and informative as with his previous, golden 3 books.
His style is light and 'selamba'. And it jives well with the mellow weather and pretty rainbow.
"Triple quotation marks do not exist because if you had to quote someone quoting someone else's quote, you probably wouldn't make sense. Like my mom."
Nine Nine Five "My teacher told me that it was 9-9-5 because when Devan Nair was president of Singapore, his wife set the kitchen on fire once and she yelled, "Nair Nair, Fire!" Then he did the "pants on fire dance" when he said that."
This time Boey lacks the rib-hurting comedy because he looks back on his childhood. I don't mind it personally, and I love the occasional pictures of smol boy Boey, however it would be nice to have more laughs than to suddenly have a sinking feeling of sadness. Know what I mean?
Overall, still support and adore Boey and I would still purchase his work even if it's already 'When I Was A Kid 92' :)
Hush, the haters, forgive their inability to understand.
Due to the cover being his grandma, i think it's sortha intentional that he brought out so many family relative stories, and especially his grandma. they conveyed a hint of sadness.
3 of them made me cri.
there were the good funny ones and the questionable ones and the deep ones.
there's also the ones that could make people weep.
I read from 1-4, This is the most favorite series , too many sentimental events that happened to the author that make me appreciate and become an eye opener for values that i have in the family that i need to recognize before i will lose it one day.
