Set in a time in the not too distant future where a virus has wiped out women and the new government has figured a way to create men capable of sustain life but in order for them to do so they need an Alpha to help maintain the hormones necessary for these new lives to thrive.
Jonathan is one of these Omegas. He is a romantic and believes he will find a happily ever after with the Alpha he bonds with to have a child. David is an Alpha that was a barely legal adult when the virus hit and suffered some tragic losses that color the world he lives in.
Jonathan and David are brought together to nurture the life inside of Jon. Jon finds himself falling in love with David but doesn’t know that David has no intension of staying with Jon and raising the child. Through a series of misunderstanding and then almost tragedy the guys nearly lose what has slowly grown between them.
Though I really loved Jonathan I’ll admit I wasn’t too fond of David because I thought there was something off about how he was with Jonathan. But he grew on me and I’m came to understand his fears and why he was acting the way he was. Very satisfying ending……I’m always a sucker for a good “happily ever after”! I hope that we get more books set in this universe and get to see more of the characters that we met in this story. Well done Orion…. well done!

I really liked the idea behind this book and the world that resulted from it. I especially liked that the book was set in a timeframe that you don't often see in a post-apocalyptic story - normally it's either right at the apocalypse or it's at least a generation afterwards, but this book was set only about 15-20 years after all the women in the world had been killed by a virus that attacked anyone with a double x chromosome pair. In order to give humanity time to recover, scientists found a way to adjust the stem cells of selected boys to allow them to carry a child to term, but (in a twist that I didn't expect) the omegas can't conceive, they are impregnated via in vitro from frozen fertilized eggs rescued from fertility clinics. The plot wasn't anything surprising, but it was fun and I connected with both Jon & David.

Jon's father signed him up for the omega program so they could get into the Haven Colony which is safe after a virus wipes out all the females on the outside. Jon is happy to be in the program to help ensure humanity's future. When Jon is twenty, he gets the final treatments so he can get pregnant and choses his alpha by scent. they bond for the first time with Jon losing his virginity and then a rescued fetus is implanted. Jon is happy with his alpha, David, and being pregnant. However things go south briefly after his second trimester when he finds out that the happy family unit he envisioned is not true when David brings up choosing Joey's new parents. While depressed, Jon accepts that he will lose his alpha and son, Joey. Things improve for the better when Joey comes early and David holds him for the first time and realizes that he wants both Jon and Joey for himself. Jon is happy to agree and they live happily together.

I loved the idea and the worldbuilding. But to discover the real reason for the alpha to participate in the program... lets just say it destroyed the whole book for me:( I know he „redeemed“ himself (on ONE PAGE!!!) and started to not act like a complete egoistic doofus, but no way in hell would i BELIEVE his sudden transformation into a good husband and good and lovin father. No way!

If he had to prove longer that he really was in love with Jon and the baby than perhaps i could buy his (sudden magically - wait its a fantasy book all of a sudden?!) change, but THIS?! No. To accept him so soon also just shows that the poor innocent omega hasnt seen much yet. He shouldve dumped the idiot alpha. EVERY future alpha would habe been a better choice. Because love is kindaaa important in such stories and he‘d definitly woulf have met his very lovin match. Instead he lives in a fantasy... well at least that fantasy makes him happy. Even if its not true.

I deleted it immediatly. Never before have i read a story with such an unbelievable alpha. Although i really wanted to like the book. But no, just wasted money. -.-

Good, but not a favorite

I’ve read other books by this author before, and so was disappointed by this particular novel. I felt disconnected from the alpha father, and even the omega father whose perspective we view the world through felt like a starry-eyed idealist, and not very mature. We get to know next to nothing about the dystopian future that this novel is based in, which adds to the level of disconnection from the book. The happy ending felt odd and forced after a relationship that felt very strained and 1950’s housewife.

I would read the other options from this author, as the writing is good- the relationship just doesn’t overcome the dystopian future scenario.

Great dystopic sci fi mpreg.

This was one of the very first mpreg books I read once I discovered the genre. It presents a sweet story in an seriously messed up world with some real life emotional depth (and baggage). It's one I come back to for a re-read when I'm after a medium length real good story.

What a futuristic and somewhat backwards world. One nice thing for the guy they don’t have to worry about lube and condoms. I’m glad that David finally came around and he and Jon could live happily ever after

Kinda too fast

The end turned around way too fast. I really liked the story and sheesh my heart broke for Jon but the whole thing ended in like 5 pages with nothing to lead to that conclusion except the author's whimsy. That was annoying.

What a great read! I thought that this was one of the best explanations for omegas and how they would work that I have ever seen. The author really thought the whole world/society implications out in an original and intriguing way. I loved Jon, he was so sweet in his excitement about the baby and his devotion to David. David also seemed the perfect, doting Alpha partner. They definitely clicked sexually. From the blurb though I knew that the other shoe had to drop--and what a drop it was! I was shocked and dismayed to say the least. I kept telling myself that, of course, there would be a happy ending. And there was. But boy the getting there was something. I loved how the author expertly pulled my heartstrings so many times throughout the book. This is one I'm glad to own because I see myself rereading it again in the future. This was not what I was expecting when I picked out this book. It was a quick but satisfying read. The characters are interesting and the pace was fine. But what set this apart was the sci-fi aspect. I didn't expect to like the world it was set in, though the world building is minimal, but I grew to like the thought that was put into it to explain why things were the way they were. And when I was expecting a cliche ending it wasn't there. I was surprised when the ending was staring me in the face and the characters hadn't done something stupid for dramatic effect. It was a nice solid mpreg read and I will read more from this author.
My one complaint is that it was a quickie ending and I would have liked a little more world building. But I would love to revisit this world again to see someone else get a happy ending.

I must admit that I almost didn't read this book because it was a short story. I tend to stay away from book with fewer than a hundred pages. I like to get lost in the stories and a lot of the short stories I've tried don't put enough effort into the world building or sometimes even story development. This book was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed everthing about this story excpet that the secret was really more of a misunderstanding. Even in that I understood how devestated both MC's were becausee of it. Great story, I think I'll look for more from this author.

This was a really great futuristic story line. I think it explained with great ideas how the future could change and how the people who make it could make sure humanity survives. The characters were well written, although at one point I wanted to punch David in the throat! Otherwise it was a great read.

In a near future, a virus has killed all women, and science has created omegas, men who can carry babies to term, when artificially inseminated. They bond with an Alpha, have lots of sex, and then a baby, who is kept or given to another couple to raise. And that's were most of the tension comes in this story. Yes there's an HEA, and the story is sweet, but it's insta-love first, or at least lust.

Different

Interesting spin. This was an easy read of a time in the future where the female population no longer exist. They have created an omega program. Jon is an omega seeking an alpha to have babies with. Only his alpha has different plans. It was good to see how they got along during the pregnancy and afterwards.

Sweet story

This story was interesting. The premise was sound and execution was good. Jon's character was just a little too naive. David was harder to understand since we don't see anything from his point of view. The HEA was just a bit too easy for my taste. Still a good story if you like mpeg.

I liked the way Omega's are defined in this story. Saving the world through male pregnancy.

I enjoyed the characters. Just sorry it took David so long to realize that he had just what he wanted - Jon and Joey... His family.

This book shows how men would survive if there were no women in the world... LOL so apparently they will genetically engineer their self to be Alpha and Omega so that they can carry on the human race . So a cute little angsty story, that was fun to read
