Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

Heroes and Villains!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🪐🛸🚀☄️🌒
Character development: 🤖👽🥰👽😌

The heroine: Charlotte Walker - a medical student and best friends with both Zoe and Leah from Abducted and Protected. She is the only one of the three that is left on Earth and she plans to stay their and finish her medical studies.

The Hero(es): Kristoff Verrai - Majorin captain of the guard for the Goddess/Empress of the Galaxy. Kristoff was the closest guard to the old Empress since he was young and was devoted to her, so he is not too exited when he is in mourning for her and tasked with searching for the replacement/new incarnation of the Empress.

The Story: The villain from Abducted and Protected, Count Doloroso, is the last of the assimilated. An Assimilated is a person who has been implanted with a tiny microchip and the AI has taken over the brain of the host. Doloroso was one of his former hosts who was killed after trying to abduct Zoe, he later became an important and wealthy man from Earth, though he had a bad experience as the orange skinned man with small hands. He was then killed when he abducted Leah.

Now the AI in Count Doloroso has moved on to a new alien species and he thinks this host has a much better chance of working for his goal of getting a female la-ti-dal (with powers) to use in order to impregnate with the first true born assimilated being and then go on to take over the galaxy. Since Zoe and Leah are now out of his reach, he plans to use their friend Charlotte. Though Doloroso isn’t the only villain in this one, there are a few other great villains.

Like the previous two books in this series, the characters were both very likable and the world building was terrific. The rules Charlotte is supposed to follow as the Empress were pretty crazy. She had to go through trials to prove she is the Goddess and she was to pick a consort (out of males with royal blood), which Kristoff wasn’t.

The narration was done by Mackenzie Cartwright and William Martin who did a stellar job and both of which have extremely pleasant voices and great cadence. The narration is dual narration, not duet narration but I really enjoyed it nevertheless. Like the prior two books the world and the story are as important as the romance and I really enjoyed it all and I am loving this entire series.

Have you heard the new Ed Sheeran song, Shape of You? The chorus goes "I'm in love with the shape of you. We push and pull like a magnet do. My heart is falling too....Put that body on me." That's basically this whole book.

Charlotte is a doctor/med student doing one of those doctor-till-you-collapse shifts at the hospital when a 7ft golden skinned guy wearing a golden gladiator outfit comes in wounded asking for her. She sews him up and has him dumped in the psych ward because he keeps calling her Goddess-Empress and telling her she's the ruler of the galaxy. Yeah. I mean he's hot, so she should've played along and taken him home with her, which was her colleague's advice, but she doesn't. She goes home and is almost murdered by an assassin bot, which is a silver robot, until gladiator guy saves her. Turns out Kristoff, the 7ft tall gladiator, was telling the truth and she is the new Goddess-Empress of the galaxy.

Very reluctantly, Charlotte agrees to go with Kristoff and take her place on the galaxy throne. She's not too psyched about ruling the galaxy and leaving her medical studies. I don't fully agree because 1) ruling the galaxy means galaxy wide domination, think big, woman! 2) you'll have wider access to specimens, I mean bodies, uhh, I mean cadavers to study anatomy on. or something like that. 3)servants to make you meals, because hospital cafeteria food sucks (I assume). 4) free housing at the palace. See, why was she ever reluctant to go be the new Goddess-Empress, ridiculous.

On the journey through space Charlotte becomes ill and Kristoff has to heal her....with his body...heat. Yeah, it almost sounded pervy. This works out well for Charlotte because Kristoff looks like one of those hotties from Spartacus, 7ft tall hot golden skinned muscled alien guy that she had to naked cuddle with. Hard life. So anyway. They both want to get it on but they can't because Kristoff is a mere lesser noble and Charlotte is the Goddess-Empress. He's basically a peasant compared to her and the rules say she has to pick a consort with royal blood, so no getting it on with the guards. That makes her sad because Kristoff is her only friend, companion, and constantly saving her from dying/assassination attempts. She's very alone on this new planet and in her new role. She allows way too many people to tell her what to do, I'd be telling everyone to piss off or I'd smite them all. <---- obviously I'd be a dictator, is there any other way to rule? To quote Tony Stark, "I'd be a cruel but merciful ruler."

So lots and lots of assassination attempts. Lots of bureaucratic nonsense. Charlotte has to pass a bunch of tests to prove she's the one. There's an evil prince who wants to usurp her crown. Evil council members trying to manipulate her. I enjoyed all of that intrigue.
Kristoff, poor Kristoff, thinking you're peasant status compared to Charlotte, even though he wants to mate her 4 life, he can't. I liked his character, but I did get tired of him telling her no-ish on bumping pelvises. He always found a second base loop hole, but that the whole book was at least 50% about them not being able to be together was a bit repetitive. So if sexual tension is your thing, this book is for you. Otherwise, I liked him and how he was always there for Charlotte, ready to protect and kill.

Liked the ending, finally they all grew some balls. So besides the repetitiveness of the relationship with Charlotte and Kristoff, I liked it. It probably helped there were constant assassination attempts to keep me interested + more than one villain.

Book three in this series and it's the turn of hard working Charlotte. Missing her two best friends she has well and truly thrown herself into her work at the ER but boy are the hours and tiredness catching up with her. She's always had an uncanny sense about things but her recent hallucinations concerning talking bug eyed worms is perhaps the final sign that poor Charlotte is gradually losing her mind! Still she's no quitter and keeps plugging away but the night a giant man lands on her gurney with oddly coloured skin things start to get a whole lot worse! The male is convinced that Charlotte is his missing Empress and when Charlotte gives him a transfusion things quickly start getting out of control. There's just one thing to do, trust that gorgeous hunk of man and embrace the fact that aliens are real but Charlotte is in danger but is it her sanity on the line or her heart?
Well as a goddess incarnate Charlotte sure does get a lot thrown at her. Yet her trust in Kristoff is almost instant but it was easy to see why. He may not feel he is worthy but his steadfast ways and protective nature helped make this story shine. Yes it's a sexy romp but the author has a knack of coming up with the most crazy scenarios. Entertaining trials , laugh out loud moments and villains to boo and hiss at too! I loved the Majoran hero Kristoff and he's possibly my favourite so far although I have a soft spot for Sarden (book 1, Abducted) . Charlotte deserves some fun in her life but the author sure does throw a lot at her but hey you know it will all work out in the end .
Fast, sexy and never a dull moment

There are so many things to love about this series!

My biggest “love” is the universe. The story is so action packed, it makes such an interesting read. Yes, it is slightly cheesy at times, but I honestly do not care.

I wasn’t too keen on starting this book, (I really wanted to read “Severed”) so I started it in the spirit of “just getting it over with)”. But oh boy, did it surprise me! In a good way too.

Kristoff is DREAMY! Yummy beyond compare! His devotion and loyalty was just brilliant. (His abs was kinda nice too 😳).

I liked Charlotte a lot, but as with the other two main characters in the previous books (Zoe and Leah) I never really truly “bonded” with them. Charlottes “stammering” was also starting to get a little on my nerves, but I STILL believe it was worth 5 stars even though I didn’t love everything completely.

Even though it is very action packed it’s also a very “light” read. There is plenty depth, don’t get me wrong, and it’s HAWT! Like really hot😳 The plot was slightly different from the other two books, and did put the focus more on rules and “what was considered right and proper”, but I didn’t mind that much.

I really liked it. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the leads and I thought the overarching storyline tied up well. Possibly the best of the bunch and with enough of a thread left to give more romance in this ‘verse, I wasn’t disappointed. Looking forward to the next one.

Awright awright awright

Typical Evangeline Anderson novel.

- forbidden love
- secret royalty
- stoic, reliable bodyguard hero
- the couple cockblocking themselves
- heroine never enjoyed sex because of a rare gene (which is just the saddest trope ever)

There were some fun mean guys in this one. Prince Morbain was a vicious evil bully and he was my main entertainment for most of the book.

One scene really stood out where the heroine is at a royal banquet and served living slugs, bugs and worms because Prince Morbain did his research and knew she would hate those.

What a dedicated villain!

I could have read a whole entire novel about Morbain.

This book is so far my favorite in the Alien Mate Index. One reason is because I love the forbidden-love trope. In this book, the stakes were higher than in Leah's or Zoe's books. The conflict in those books why the hero & heroine couldn't be together wasn't as good. Here, as Empress, Charlotte is expected to take a consort of royal blood and her guard Captain Kristoff Verrai is only a commoner.

All the villains received their comeuppance. I am worried that

I also loved the hospital scenes in the beginning. Maybe it's because the author used to be an MRI tech since she clearly knew her way around a hospital to write about an intern's experience very realistically.

Charlotte certainly went through a lot of trials, assassination attempts, and court intrigue to be crowned Empress of the Galaxy. I'm a little confused since I know that Zoe is the Queen of Eloim. I guess Charlotte is queen of Majorah Prime and empress of the whole galaxy.

On page 337, Kristoff was referred to as "Kristen", which threw me off.

This was an OK third instalment of Evangeline Anderson’s Alien Mate Index series. Not quite as much fun as the first two books but still readable.

This is a romcom alien romance series that leans pretty heavily into the crazy and ridiculous but still manages to be fun. On the whole the series has been a good blend of romance, comedy, and sci-fi adventure.

This third book focused on the story of Charlotte Walker and Kristoff Verrai. We met both of them briefly in the previous books. Kristoff is the Captain of the Imperial Guard of the Goddess-Empress of the galaxy. He has been tasked with the safety of the next incarnation of the Goddess-Empress, Charlotte, and intends to see her ascend the throne.

I thought the story was OK. This series is always a tad on the weird side but tends to do an OK job of mixing romcom, erotica, and adventure/suspense into a fun, if very weird, story!

I think the negative for this book was the fact that it got a little dark towards the end and the fact that Kristoff felt a little lacking after we had Grav as the lead in the last book. I can live without the revenge torture in my weird alien erotic! Then there was the fact that Kristoff was just not as likeable as Grav and I think that comparison hurt him and probably the story. To be honest the same was probably true of Charlotte in comparison to Leah.

I might read the 4th book at some point even if this one did hint it would be even more kinky and unorthodox than the previous books. These guys are definitely not Trek aliens!

Rating: 3 stars

Audio Note: As with the previous books the bulk of the story was narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright who did the female POV chapters and Willian Martin doing the male POV chapters. I quite enjoyed Cartwright’s narration. She seemed to get the tone of the story and was decent with the voices. Martin got the tone of the story and was an OK narrator outside of the fact he really struggled with the female voices. The big flaw remains the fact that the transition between the two narrators was is particularly smooth so it was jarring at times to bounce between the two different takes on the characters. It would have been better if they just had Martin handle all the male dialogue and left Cartwright to do everything else. Feels like a botch on the production side not to properly utilise the duel narrators!

The sequel to this new series was as exciting as the previous ones! Charlotte and Kristoff are a great couple and the chemistry between them is palpable! Kristoff is very protective and loyal and Charlotte is not weak. She is a doctor and feels sympathetic even towards her enemies.

The Count also wants to destroy everything and the new pair also makes an appearance. The descriptions of the Palace and the galaxy in general are quite realistic and I'm really enjoying these series so far!

CAPTIVATING, SEXY AND DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Descended
Series: Alien Mate Index
Author: Evangeline Anderson
Designation: Book Three of Series, Full-Length, NO Cliffhanger, Can be read as Standalone
Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: FIVE SINFULLY SEXY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! As much as I would like to just scream to the entire world, "Read this...Best Book EVER," then dramatically bring the back of my hand to my forehead and gracefully swoon into a giant quivering puddle, it would be totally remiss of me as a reviewer to not explain why I feel so strongly about this book... which brings me to my current dilemma. It's often quite difficult to find the right words to describe your experience reading a book by Evangeline Anderson, so please forgive me for blathering like an incoherent idiot. I'm totally smitten with action/adventure tales, adore science fiction and love, love, love sexy romance especially when it leans toward the erotic, but when I can find them all in one great book, I'm in heaven! And Evangeline Anderson has delivered the perfect combination of all three in her seductive new Alien Mate Index Series. But in all honesty, I think I've died and gone to alien heaven.... populated, of course, with the alien races of the galaxy along with the twelve peoples seeded by the Ancient Ones from the incredibly imaginative mind of Evangeline Anderson. And folks, it just doesn't get any better than this in the science fiction romance genre! It has everything you could want in a great story including lots of swoon-worthy aliens, heart-pounding danger, gut-wrenching drama, agonizing angst, treacherous cunning villains, laugh out loud humor, sweet seductive romance, sizzling hot passion and sinfully delicious sex. The author does a remarkable job of giving some backstory throughout the book so Descended can be read as a standalone. However, having said that, I highly recommend reading the books in order of their release. It's one decision I'm sure you'll never regret. If you're looking for a fun, sexy romp, this is most definitely the book for you! I'm a fan for life!

Descended is a fast paced, well crafted, exceptionally imaginative and totally unique, full-length standalone science fiction saga filled to the brim with hot as hades space aliens, action, adventure, danger, drama, suspense, passion, romance, angst, steamy dreamy sex, hot as hades space aliens and some of the most nefarious villains I've ever encountered - in any genre. Yes, yes, I know I said hot space aliens twice, but what can I say? They're totally hot! The narrative is beautifully written primarily in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives but also includes an occasional third person pov from the villain. I was immediately drawn into the story by the two protagonists, beautiful curvaceous Charlotte Walker, overworked intern at North Florida Regional Medical Center, and Kristoff Xander Verrai, Captain of the Imperial Royal Guard for the Goddess-Empress of the Universe. But Charlotte is no ordinary human, she's a La-ti-zal and Pure One, as well as the true Incarnation of the Goddess-Empress Sundalla the 999th, making her the Goddess-Empress Sundalla the 1000th and Empress of the Universe. Oh my! And Captain Verrai is no ordinary guard. He was not only the chosen personal guard of the Goddess-Empress Sundalla the 999th, he was also her confidente and the only one she trusted to locate, retrieve and protect her successor. And did I mention he's very handsome, very charming, very large and ...uh... very attentive??? I fell head over heels for both Charlotte and Kristoff. Charlotte was hard-working, pragmatic, down to earth, compassionate and giving, always willing to help those in need. Kristoff was courageous, loyal, dedicated, selfless and determined to protect Charlotte, even if the cost was his own life. And fyi, Kristoff was also Majoran, an alien race of chromatachrome who worship all females and able to change the color of their hair, skin, and eyes at will, usually to match the moods of their mated female, but in Kristoff's case it would be to match the golden skin tone of the royal guard except in private, when his would change to match the moods of his goddess-empress. Oh dear! And when Kristoff dropped to one knee and swore his fealty to Charlotte, I may have actually swooned! And like both her friends, Zoe and Charlotte, Charlotte was a real fighter and no crybaby, always willing to rise to the occasion. And believe me, there were a lot of precarious occasions! These two characters were absolutely perfect for each other and played off each other brilliantly. I found the entire cast of characters to be fascinating, captivating, engaging, sexy and at times, laugh at loud funny. I even loved the villains! The dialogue is smart, snappy, inventive, well-executed and flows effortlessly. Anderson skillfully combines these elements to craft a romantic fun-filled, seductive sci-fi romp. Obviously, this is not my first rodeo with Anderson. I became a fan last year after she was recommended by one of my favorite authors and it only took reading one of her books for me to realize Anderson is an exceptionally gifted storyteller with a boundless imagination who excels at creating richly depicted worlds with vivid and beautifully detailed descriptions, then populates them with unique, intriguing characters who literally explode from the pages and capture your heart. She also enhances her creation with futuristic technology and jargon that is sure to titillate the minds of even the most hardcore sci-fi geeks along with outrageously humorous situations and descriptions that are sure to have you laughing out loud. If you're looking for a delightfully entertaining science fiction romance that is sure to keep you glued to your ereader, make your heart pound and leave you completely breathless, then this is most definitely the series for you. Quite honestly, when Evangeline Anderson puts pen to paper, the result is nothing short of magical, which is pretty darn special since this is science fiction and not supernatural. But my point is this, if you’re a science fiction/alien romance fan, then the Alien Mate Index is one super special series you don’t want to miss! But as usual I digress, let's talk about the premise for the series.

Remember, folks, this is fiction, science fiction to be exact, and according to the incredibly imaginative mind of Evangeline Anderson, it was the Goddess of Mercy who created the universe. She then created a race of beings known as the Ancient Ones to whom she endowed the seeds of life with instructions to sow the seeds throughout the galaxy on the planets capable of supporting life. The result was the creation of twelve alien races who resembled her image. But the Ancient Ones had a little-known secret.... there's a thirteenth race also seeded by the Ancient Ones who more closely resemble the Goddess' than any of others on a small blue and green planet that has remained locked for millennia, concealed, protected and cocooned in the safety of its ozone layer....until now. Yup, that would be us, humans from Earth, and apparently, we're very special since our planet has been locked! As a result of our isolation in the galaxy, Earthlings still have the original DNA of the Ancient Ones and have never mixed with any of the other sentient species, thereby giving us our name - the Pure Ones. But now, there's a gaping hole in Earth's security blanket and guess who just gatecrashed the party without an invitation? That would be the Commercians who have set up the Alien Mate Index, an agency that abducts Earth brides for alien males...for the right price, of course. They've hung out the open sign on a space station which is currently circling in low Earth orbit, concealed by space junk. And they're greedy little buggers. No really, they literally resemble worms, three foot tall dark blue worms with multiple arms and legs, and bulging purple eyes on stalks that swivel. Yup, apparently females are scarce in the galaxy and the alien warriors of the Twelve Peoples, also descended from the Ancient Ones, are searching for mates. And Earth girls are easy! lol... No, just kidding, but Earth females are their first choice. And surprisingly, certain Earth females called La-ti-zals are even more special and much more valuable than others. They have been bestowed with varying special latent gifts or abilities by the Ancient Ones. The La-ti-zals are very rare and sought by many. Oh my! Better stay away from shiny surfaces, ladies because you could be next....you could be snatched anytime... from anywhere, sucked right through a wormhole to the Commercians' space station and sold as a warrior's mate... or concubine! Oh dear! So many hot, handsome alien males to choose from but wait.... we don't choose them; they choose us. I guess the real question is not which handsome alien would you choose... but rather who will choose you??? Oh my!

The evil entity Count Doloroso is now inhabiting a new body, a Majoran male much better suited for his grand scheme of producing a new race of Organic Assimilated to rule the Universe. In order to continue his plan, he needs a La-ti-zal in which to plant his seed. After his failure to acquire both Zoe and Leah, there's now only one of the original three left...the lovely, curvaceous Charlotte Walker. Fortunately for him, Charlotte Walker appears to be the most powerful and best suited for his plan. Unfortunately, there's one little snag... Captain Kristoff Verrai of the Imperial Guard has already arrived on Earth to secure the lovely healer and transport her to Femme One for her coronation. But with his new Majoran body, it would be easy to steal her right out from under Verrai's nose. Right? Wrong! It seems someone else has a dog in this hunt, and is more than a little determined to win by killing Charlotte before she can be installed as the Goddess-Empress. Sadly, Charlotte may be her own worst enemy since she has no idea of her true identity. And even worse, she thinks she's losing her mind and refuses to even listen to the little blue worms who keep appearing in every reflective surface, trying to deliver a message from Leah warning her of the imminent danger posed by Count Doloroso and telling her to trust Captain Verrai. What's an Earth girl to do??? Fall in love with the handsome hunky seven foot plus man...umm...alien who looks like a Roman gladiator and keeps saving her life, of course. Regrettably, he's not of royal blood and can never become her Royal Consort. Even if she does survive Count Doloroso and all the assassination attempts, they can never be together. Can they? We'll see!

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am, but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy dreamy love scenes. Will I read this author again? Abso-freaking-lutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! Was I entertained? Oh my lawd, yes! Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. The pages flew as did the time with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest. I laughed, I cried and several times, I even shook my fists in anger, but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and entertained. My final verdict: Protected is a divinely entertaining science fiction saga filled with danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, humor, romance and some steamy dreamy sex. I would rate this book ten stars if I could! So, buckle up my lovelies, it’s a wild ride across the galaxy and one I'm sure you will enjoy! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Just for fun, here's a little teaser from Descended. This excerpt is the vow of fealty given by Captain Verrai to Charlotte Walker who is the reincarnation of the Goddess-Empress Sundalla 999th making her Sundalla 1000th. So dreamy...*sigh*
"I, Kristoff Xander Verrai, am yours to command. My body shall be your shield. My blood is yours to spill, my shoulders shall carry your burdens, and my lips shall keep your secrets. My heart shall beat only for you. I will never leave you or forsake you—I will follow and protect you until the end of my days. Unswerving Loyalty, Unquestioning Devotion, Unremitting Obedience, and…” I paused for a moment, my throat working. “And Unending Love,” I said, though I hadn’t meant to say it. “These are the code and the credo of the Imperial Guard. Until I die, my Lady, I am yours.”

Ugh why is every book by the writer so good? And have the absolute dreamiest, gentle, caring, loving, strong, protective male leads? It's so hard not to fall in love with the characters the writer creates❤️

I think I say this everytime but this book might just be my new favourite 🤭 from having 7 foot tall golden skinned hot alien mmc, forbidden romance, he falls first and harder, this book was such a good one!

Our fmc Charlotte Walker is a medical student on earth, who is just trying to survive her surgical rotation. She's also best friends with Zoe from Abducted and Leah from Protected. When Kristoff Verrai, Captain of the Imperial Guard of the Goddess-Empress of the galaxy appears in her life and tells her that she is new Incarnation of the Goddess-Empress herself, Charlotte, like any other sane person doesn't believe a thing he says. But then one after another, multiple assassin attempts are made on her life and she is left with no choice but to trust the Captain with her life... and maybe her heart too?

As usual the book is well written and flows smoothly. While most of the writer's Alien books have more of a sci-fi touch to it, this one also had some fantasy aspects to it which I loved!

This book dragged due to lack of strong heroine and strong plot, but I really liked the sci-fi elements and the hero was a sweet heart.

I didn't hate it, but right in the beginning, the heroine started to annoy me. She has this incredibly strong intuition that always steers her right, but she chooses to ignore it whenever the plot deems it necessary.

When she's going against the standard procedure of giving O- blood to a person whose blood type is unknown:
Now this is something a medical professional should never do -- especially around an open wound in a patient with an unknown medical history. There are so many blood-borne pathogens on the loose out there it's not even funny. But I had a feeling about this strange patient with his bizarre outfit and his golden-sheened skin -- and I always listen to my feelings.

"aNd I aLwAyS lIsTeN tO mY fEeLiNgS." Bitch, when? You mean this one time? And then you never listen to them again? And almost get yourself killed?

Later in the same scene:
I turned to go and from the corner of my eye, saw that [he] was watching me. He turned away as soon as he saw me looking, but there was something in his expression -- a coldness -- that sent a shiver down my spine. Suddenly I wondered what I would know if I walked up to him and grabbed his arm.
... With an effort, I shrugged off the sense of dread that had somehow settled over me like a cold, clammy coat.

Yeah, whatever. Just some pesky sense of impending doom. Who pays attention to that?

Later that same night, when someone shows up at her door asking to come in:
"Oh, uh..." For a moment I had a really strong impulse to slam the door in his face. I remembered Kristoff's whirling rainbow eyes and his deep voice warning, Danger!
But that was crazy, I told myself. [He] was a sweet old guy -- nobody to be afraid of.

See, she can't listen to her feelings at any other time in the book, because then she wouldn't be in a situation where she needs rescuing. Normally her response would be reasonable and something anyone would do: talk themselves out of a gut feeling that isn't socially acceptable or polite. But we've established already that she's very intuitive, and she (supposedly) trusts that intuition. So it's incredibly frustrating when she repeatedly ignores it, to her detriment.

The book wasn't bad, and I liked Kristoff, but the characters just make so many stupid decisions, and the Assimilated plot line was kind of obvious, and so all the more frustrating when none of the characters seemed at all worried about the possibility of body snatchers. The idea of someone you love being killed, and their body being worn as some second skin? That's horrifying, and terrifyingly insidious. But the plot only focused on "I want to have sex with you, but I can't."

If only Charlotte had some ability to... just... know really important things about people, maybe through touching them. Maybe she could've been way more useful to the plot. But no, there's some weirdly specific tradition where she can't touch the one guy who is probably conspiring to murder her.

The plot gives Charlotte these cool powers, and then repeatedly handicaps her and stops her from using them. The plot also seemingly stops her from using her brain.

(Oh, and her whole obsession with the Hippocratic oath was really frustrating too. Girl, these people want to see you dead! Get off your high horse. You don't even have to kill someone, just let them die. Even the Goddess of Mercy was more merciless than you.)

This is the third book in the Alien Mate Index and by far the most intricate of the three so far. The characters here fairly flew off the page at me as I found myself liking or disliking them at warp speed. I completely love the fact that the stories are told from the point of view of the characters and therefore give you a behind the scenes look at how they think, no wondering how the other person knew something. This took some time to build instead of them being totally into each other right away. The world they go to is beautifully drawn and makes you feel as if you are standing within the palace on Femme One. The background of the Majoran people is interesting and makes them one of the more interesting races to inhabit our galaxy.

Charlotte Walker has her own way of dealing with loss, and that is to throw herself into her work or in this case into returning to medical school. After Zoe disappeared she and Leah looked for her to no avail and so she moved and started med school which kept her mind busy. She lost touch with Leah after her move and did not try to keep in touch. When a large man comes to the emergency room asking for her she is a little surprised but does not give it a lot of thought as he needs her help. After giving him her blood things take a turn for the bizarre.

Kristoff Verrai is the Captain of the Empress Goddesses guard and has come to earth to protect and bring back the one true incarnation of the Empress Goddess. It just happens that he has come for Charlotte who is very pragmatic and not prone to believe in such things as aliens. Kristoff would not believe that he could love the new Empress as much as the last but finds himself falling for someone he should not. As the attempts on her life increase he is hard pressed to save her but even harder pressed to keep his feelings in check.

This was a fantastic entry that I wanted to see keep going because I wanted/needed to know exactly what happened after the girls were reunited. There are some very hot moments, some violence, a lot of plotting, and some truly sad moments. I would recommend the series and this book!

** Listening to this book brings the high drama that it already is generating to an even higher level. You can feel the menace as well as the love as it literally leaps out at you. William Martin and MacKenzie Cartwright continue to do a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life.

OMG such a fabulous read! It's definitely the best in the series yet. There was lots of action right from the start and there's other sinister beings other than Count Doloroso. As usual the author's creativity and imagination is awe inspiring. I say bring on the next one!

Is this one my favorite? It's hard to tell AS I LOVE THEM ALL.

Charlotte is kind and compassionate to Kristoffs gentle protectiveness. Happy sigh!

4⭐️ I’m gonna start this off with the negatives because everything else was fun. It was disappointing how incredibly stupid Charlotte was at the start of this book. Sebastian, a side character, knew she should leave the planet and had to convince her to leave. She was damn near dead and still had to be convinced to leave. I get the reluctance to leave what you know, and they displayed the homesickness very well in this book, but it was still quick frustrating. Regardless of the complete nonsense at the start of the book I fully enjoyed the rest of it. The book was very tense! I was bouncing my leg at all the action and there were so many enemies. The stakes were high and I had a good time. The sex scenes were descriptive. I liked the communication aspect between the main characters in terms of discussing their feelings and their wants. The battle scenes were intense. The characters aren’t all the same person in different fonts which I love about this series. I’m having a good time and can’t wait to read the next book!

Pleasantly surprised by this book.Lets establish that it is not an epic story that will hit you like a train, lower our expectations and voila, very decent, believable alien story. So far the best in the series. Why only 3 stars? Because it is still not a book after which you need a pause or a storyline that you will remember in half a year. However, it is well well written and reads easily.Sex scenes are still ridiculously funny but slowly getting less ridiculous.Plot was believable, evil believably real, heroes reactions somewhat relatable and heroes themselves were likable and strong.Bravo.

Recommended to everyone who is looking for light alien romance.

There was so much wrong with this story. It was long and drawn out and extremely predictable. It was only slightly funny in a couple of scenes. And, of course Doloroso was still lurking around.

The only reason I pressed on till the end was for Kristoff. His character was wonderful and I wanted to see how the Goddess of Mercy was going to handle their forbidden love.

Mostly, this tale just didn't work for me for so many reasons.

Good Story - Okay Writing - Good Read

DNF at 20%. I was looking for a low stress book and I’ve enjoyed the ridiculousness of other of the authors books. However, this book has questionable consent straight off. I haven’t gotten to anything sexual, but both main characters are telling the other what is important to them and then the other is making important decisions for them without really listening and trying to understand. This is not low stress for me so I’m going to go to another title.

Kristoff in Charlotte or one of those couples that I hate to love. Throughout the entire story I did not understand why one of them didn't say fuck the system I'm going to be with what I want to be with. The whole entire story was both of them mooning about one another and that really annoyed me. All I wanted was for them to just be together and call it a day.

Story started off a Charlotte working in the ER living her life and then Crystal comes in letting her know that this is not what she should be doing. Charlotte things Kristoff is crazy because if somebody tells me but I am the Goddess Empress I would look at them suspect as well. There was a lot of action and drama and conspiracies throughout the book.

Now back to Kristoff and Charlotte. I do understand Kristoff was all about Duty and what is right however it got to the point where I just couldn't handle it anymore. Kristoff was everything that any woman would want however he came off as we get times to me. Yes, he did protect Charlotte and yes he did stand up to everyone for her however he would not fight for her. He refused to follow his heart. I do understand not every Romance is butterflies and rainbows however Kristoff and Charlotte had a necessary drama between the two of them.

Charlotte, Charlotte, Charlotte was such a pushover that it's just annoyed me to no end. I really wanted hurt you just say, "I am the Goddess Empress and I refuse to cow to your demands." It literally took the goddess of Mercy in order for Charlotte and Kristoff to be together.

I loved the action and the story of this book however I do not like unnecessary drama and strife between the heroine and the hero. This is exactly what was happening within this book and it got to the point where I just couldn't wait for it to end. I felt anxious throughout the entire story. I just wanted to fast forward to get to the happy ending or rather the action. When the action did occur it was everything that I needed in the story. Count Delarosa came back and he actually had a very good plan.

The love story was okay but the different plots for murder was just spectacularly written. The romance honestly took the secondary backseat to all of the conniving and backstabbing and trying to take over the worldness that was occurring. This book again definitely didn't need you use the we can't be together because I'm not foyal line. Charlotte was not a royal until she gets crowned, as much as everybody likes to tell her, so her and Kristoff as both 'commoners' could have been together far sooner then they were.

Since the story or four count Delarosa has concluded I wonder now where Evangeline Anderson we'll take this series. I cannot wait for Severed. I do know that she mentioned on her Facebook page that there will be other books however I would like to know where the series is going. I do think the only wear this book can go is to delve deeper into the Alien Mate Index since that is the name of the series. However Earth no that women are being taken through reflective mirrors or will they continue to be a secret?

Alien Mate Index gets better and better – and it started exceptional!!

We meet Charlotte who is “hiding from shiny surfaces” after each one has presented a blue worm creature calling her by name and stating he has a message for her. Difficult, because as medical student in the ER just about everything is metallic and shiny. When a 7-foot Adonis comes in wounded, refusing treatment from anyone but her, she is told he has “come for her’ and she is “in danger” just as he passes out.

Using her gift of touch-sense Charlotte determines the normal course of treatment would injure or kill him. Her rare blood type might just save this stranger. Captain Kristoff Verrai of the Imperial Guard comes to as soon as her blood hits his bloodstream. This blood transfusion has many repercussions throughout the remainder of the book. The blood of an Empress is used to select her Royal Consort during a Culling ceremony, and now having given blood, Charlotte’s blood burning has begun.

The only solution is to rush to Femme One to take her place as Sundalla the 1000th. Kristoff is forbidden from aiding Charlotte with the blood burning as she needs a Royal consort and he is of common origin. They arrive at Femme One just in time to witness a fake Empress, Eucilla, presented by Prince Morbain – son of Sundalla the 999th about to have her investiture. The Council of Wisdom decides both candidates will undergo the three Trials of Ascendancy the next day.

Having undergone the Orb and Scepter trial – Fire Drake trial – Trial of Fruit and Stone – Prince Morbain then invokes his right as one of Royal blood to demand the Fourth Trial; The Garden of Death. Yikes!!

We are presented a fascinating world; an honorable yet out of reach Imperial Guard we could all fall in love with, rigged contests, assassination attempts, power-hungry enemies, danger from an outside source unchecked from earlier books, and a scintillating passion that is forbidden by law.

Sexy, humorous and wildly inventive; I highly recommend the entire series.

This is book three in Evangeline Anderson's Alien Mate Index series and features Charlotte. I will admit that I was a bit worried about this one. The Marjoran worship females as Goddesses and when I say worship, I mean they WORSHIP their females. They are wonderfully submissive to them and while I found this to be a refreshing change from the usual caveman behavior in other books, I was also worried that Kristoff would be too submissive. I mean who wants a weak willed mate? But I'm happy to say that Evangeline handled the relationship between Kristoff and Charlotte beautifully! He may worship her but he is no spineless wimp. He still had more than enough alpha-ness to make my heart go pitter pat.

Now what I didn't care for in the book was how rigid the rules were for the Empress. No choosing your own consort, being forced to go to the Royal House of Goddess Pleasures, etc. It seemed like for being considered the Empress of the entire galaxy she wasn't allowed to make a single decision for herself. It was seriously ticking me off at times and I just wanted Charlotte to scream "ENOUGH" and tell all of the councilors to piss off!

Overall I enjoyed the story despite my frustration over the way Charlotte was treated. Count Doloroso is still running amok so there is lots of danger and intrigue as well as witty and hilarious (I ADORE Zoe, lol) dialogue. Another great addition to the AMI series!

So obviously I'm in the minority here. Just me and the one other person.

I didn't like it. There were things I liked about it. Like Kristoff. And... Okay, so maybe just one thing. But a yummy alien mansicle could not make up for the rest.

I Do Not connect with the women in this series. They are all these accomplished, strong, smart females. On paper. They're actions never seem to jive with what I'm being told. This one is a woman in her twenties. Should she really be having " What is this strange tingle in my loins?" thoughts? I realize she never felt desire for another man before but, seriously, she's had to of watched a movie, read a book, overheard a conversation. You know? Charlotte is a doctor for gods sake! Is lust and desire really such an unfathomable mystery? I rarely understood her.

They are thrown into one ridiculous convoluted scenario after another. All to get the H/h to the sexy times. A mouth literally accidentally lands on a vagina. So many forced moments. It was too awkward for me.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm in a VERY small minority. There is a very good chance you'll like this book. But I think I might be done with this series.

Explosive new edition to the Alien Mate Index!

I could not put this book down, Evangeline sure knows how to write some hot heroes! The story is fast paced and full of suspense and lots of alien intrigue. I will admit that at first I was a little skeptical at first given how stubborn and stuck in their ways Charlotte and Kristoff were, but by the time they left earth I was hooked and rooting for them both. These two were absolutely perfect for each other and falling in love with them on their rocky journey was the easiest thing in the galaxy.

I also loved the humor and wit in this book. Evangeline's characters always have some hilarious snark and sarcasm and this book definitely delivered in that area! My favorite being Zoe who ends up saying what everyone is thinking and knocks some sense into two VERY stubborn characters.

Final verdict I am hooked on the Alien Mate Index and cannot wait for more stories from this amazing new alien world that Evangeline has created!

I really liked Charlotte because of her scientific mind. She couldn't make sense of what was going on around her because it had no known scientifically proven basis. She was bright and strong and didn't back down easily. When Kristoff entered her life in dire condition, having taken the Hippocratic Oath to become a doctor, she could do nothing short of everything in her power to save him. This, of course, starts them on a whirlwind of danger, deceit and betrayal. It also leads them on a journey among the stars to a place neither of them could have predicted.

I adore all of Ms Anderson's characters. They're a fantastic departure from reality to a place I could never even dream of going, and that is exactly what I want when I pick up one of her books. As with all over her books, this one is filled with misunderstandings, romance and an erotic flare. There were moments that had me laughing and moments when my gut clenched with concern. This series is as addictive as her Kindred series, and I'm looking forward to the exciting ride the next one takes us on.

Couldn't put it down!!!

I absolutely love this series. It's so hard to choose between the three books so far but I think this one has become my favorite. I loved Kristoff's character. He was everything a woman loves about Majorans: loving, caring, attentive, worshipped you but I also loved the added dynamic that he had an alpha side in the bedroom. Smoking hot!! Charlotte was made to be goddess empress. Loved the growth you see in her character as she comes into her new role. Poor charlotte had to constantly dodge assassination attack after attack but Kristoff always stood by her side never wavering and just brought them closer each time. The story's message was amazing ... LOVE CONQUERS ALL!!! Can't wait for Rylee's story with her two alphas.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I both love and hate this installment. I read it with eyeballs when it came out and second read on audio 8/11/2023. Charlotte doesn’t listen and misses dying too many times. The story seemed to be dragged on and on and I just wanted evil punished already. I enjoyed it, I just could’ve done with less angsty moments. Also, she’s right about the damn laws attempting to control the Empress-Goddess. That shit needed a fix.
