New York Times bestselling author Jay Crownover brings heat and heart to Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family with AVENGED…

Girl meets boy…

On the worst night of her life when she’s decided to take a drastic step that there is no going back from.

Girl is used to sitting by, letting fate deal cruel hand after cruel hand to good people with soft hearts and she’s had enough.

Girl thinks it’s time to fight back against fate and against men who aren’t careful with all the precious things a woman in love has to give him.

Fate shows girl who’s boss and turns her world and plans upside down without breaking a sweat.

Boy meets girl…

On the best night of his life when he’s decided that he’s going to make moves to be the man he was always meant to be instead of the man he was trained and conditioned to be.

Boy is used to a solitary life, quiet in the woods and knowing the only thing that might be looking for him is trouble and trouble is no longer his stock in trade.

Boy thinks it’s time to show trouble who’s boss, even if this trouble has big blue eyes and a body made to make men stupid. Trouble only gets the upper hand if the boy falls prey to its temptation.

Trouble turns the boy’s quiet, serene life sideways without any effort.

Trouble is fun and fate has a wicked sense of humor when it comes to this boy meeting this girl.

I read most of the MacKenzie series but none of the novellas and I wasn’t lost at all. <3

Pop-Tart! I loved that nick name.
I loved this book. Its sweet innocents and how if you want something bad enough you’re going to find a way to make it happen.

Ben is gruff but sweet and Echo is determined and cute.

They make one heck of a couple.

I LOVED the narration it was perfection! <3

Jay Crownover stunned me with Avenged, masterfully weaving together The Saints of Denver, Welcome to The Point and The Breaking Point in one novella. I was also exceptionally surprised to feel empathy for a character who had previously embraced everything dark and dangerous in order to maintain his illusion of power.

We meet Ben/Benny as Novak's right hand man in the Welcome to the Point series, grasping onto his illusion of power by any means possible with little to no remorse as a survival technique. A product of his environment, Ben lives up to his Big Bad Wolf persona until he narrowly escapes death in the most gruesome of fashions. With no other choice he enters witness protection in order to bring down the suppliers to Novak's empire. Stranded in Surrender in a tiny cabin in the middle of nowhere ensures Ben has a lot of time to reflect on the events that have led him to his current position.

Echo was introduced briefly in The Saints of Denver when she introduced Zeb to his son. Echo also hasn't made the best choices in her life, embracing the self-fulfilling prophecy her parents forced on her from a young age. Lacking a proper support system and positive encouragement ensured Echo made more than her fair share of mistakes. I have to admit I truly admired Echo self-awareness and ability to turn her life around; her determination and willpower sustaining her despite the tragedies that seem to follow her. Echo finds herself in Surrender as a direct result of her grief at losing her younger sister, she is on a misguided mission to uncover the identity of her sisters obsession with a MacKenzie. However, the universe seems to have other plans for Echo when she is involved in a terrifying car accident leading her directly into Ben's path.
Ben has developed through his isolation and accepted the need to change his way of life and embrace the second chance he has been given. It isn't until he aids Echo that he truly wants to change. The connection between Echo and Ben is instinctual, they recognise the shadows and broken pieces within each other. Their individual pieces slot together perfectly creating a whole they have never envisioned for themselves. Trapped in a log cabin due to the weather intensifies their connection and their attraction to each other doesn't hurt either ;)

Cameo appearances from members of the MacKenzie clan add to the overall storyline BUT there is a special cameo appearance by my favourite devil, that adds tantalising clues to The Breaking Point series, while providing Ben and Echo with a resolution to the barriers preventing them from continuing their relationship.

There is a whole lot packed into this novella from the amazing character development to the progression of not one series but FOUR in total - mind-blowing plot control!!!

Lets start of by saying this is a new author for us a we throughly enjoyed our first read by them.We enjoyed it so much that after finishing this story and that of Never Surrender we purchased two more books in the MacKenzie series. We are looking forward to reading more about those MacKenzie men.

I love this stories plot and it character's .I found them to be engaging, funny, playful,serious,heat-broken,dangerous,regretful,lost,protective,love able, sexy, sweet, caring making them so intriguing to read about.

I love when two lost soul's find each other and share a connection with one another and have amazing chemistry together.A chance meeting where a couple happens to come into each other life when I just so happens when both are at their lowest points.I love when people who have made bad choices in life are able to find someone they can relate to making it possible where they can finally bare their souls to one another and who would be able to understand what they are going through. To sympathize with their past life choices..What I loved about both Echo and Ben is that they owned up to their past's without making excuses and just moved forward to try and make themselves better for themselves and others around them. When shredding their secrets there was no judgement just sympathy and understanding. Each of them just owned who they were and I really liked that about them.

I always have a favorite character in a story that I pick and mine is going to be Ben.Echo was a favorite to but Ben tipped the scales for me because I loved how he found himself doing things so out of character for him.I saw the most change in his character then any other.Ben could be grumpy, serious, dangerous, deadly, selfish self absorbed and had a huge ego but we saw a totally different side to him when it came to his interactions with Echo.He just amazed me and had me smiling at every turn. How could this deadly predator treat a women with affection , be gentle and kind and handle her with care and be possessive of someone he just met and yet be a stone cold killer on the other hand.Ben was instantly attracted to Echo and fought it at every turn knowing he was no good for her knowing that there was not going to be any kind of future for them. What I did love is that he regretted his past for once in his life just wishing he had been a better man and worthy of Echo.I really liked how he teased Echo and called her pet names especially when he gave her the name pop tart. Why that name ? Because he love them. Sigh..I was totally drawn to him with his dangerous aura that sexy grin and that sweet protective side of him making him irresistible .I guess you can say that I fell for him just like Echo did.We always love that certain sweet knowing it's bad for us yet loving it anyways. We just can't help ourselves its just our one and only sinful indulgence! (laughing out loud)

I have to say that I loved everything about Echo as well.I found her to be sweet ,kind ,love able, sexy, lonely.I felt Echo's pain and suffering at the loss her sister and her guilt at not being able to save her.She took her sisters death to heart and should not have. That guilt only made her resentful , angry and wanting nothing more than to seek revenge for the person she felt contributed to her sisters death.I loved how Ben helped Echo deal with all of that and put things in perspective so she would be able to heal.I love the chemistry this couple had along with their amazing hot and sexy interludes. One of the things that surprised me the most about Echo is that she never felt afraid of Ben even when she was in no condition to defend herself. They simple bonded and a trust had be formed right from the onset.

I believe that fate put this couple in each other path. The funny thing about fate is that it is not always kind.Even though there may not be a happy after for this couple their being together brought healing to those two lost lonely souls and put them on the a path to find the happiness they were both seeking out of life.I loved this story from beginning to end with all its twist and turns ,it's up and downs ,it's amazing character's that were interesting and you were able to relate to. I was drawn to them from the very first pages.I found myself smiling more than once and chuckling every now and then making it just another fun and fantastic read for us.

I will be looking forward to this author's other works as well. A recommend read to all !

Light is easy to love. Show me your darkness. ~R. Queen

I love books bathed in darkness with a sliver of light, as they dig deeply into the depths of hell but somehow find a bit of heaven. Jay Crownover is a mix master of black, shadowy stories that still shine like gold, such as her latest romance, Avenged. Avenged is the perfect fusion of light and dark, heaven and hell, and sin and salvation. Scorching and spine-tingling, Avenged is the newest Jay Crownover sensation that is full of soul and steam!

This story struck me hard like lighting immediately, feels threatening to flood like a dam ready to break. I was CAPTIVATED from the first page, as Avenged UTTERLY CONSUMED ME, eclipsing me like the sun and the moon as this book covered me with darkness and light. This intense and incredible story cut through me like a knife. I was on edge with bated breaths, heart racing, hoping that the light would surpass the dark. Tears fell like raindrops, preparing for a storm, but praying for the sun.

"When you let a wild animal out of a cage, it can be impossible to control."

"I'm not worried about getting bit. In fact, I'm kind of looking forward to it."

Avenged is a fractured but fierce and fire-hot fairytale.. This is the story of a troubled Snow White and a tainted Prince Charming. Fate brought them together, a man and a woman who toe the line between dark and light, and now must find salvation. Two broken souls who, when joined, become whole. However, the past may strike and tear them apart before they find heaven among the pits of hell.

“We were supposed to be here. We were supposed to save each other.”

Avenged sank into my soul, stamping itself everywhere, as this tale imprinted me with words that became feels. I felt ALL OF THE FEELS. I FELL HARD for Avenged a story that shook my soul with a force I did not see coming, but one that engulfed every emotion like a raging inferno. I LOVED every pulse-pounding minute! The mash-up of characters from several series was fresh and fun, making this story unique, but then again, Jay Crownover’s books are always one-of-a kind…just like her.

A master painter of stories of dark bled with light, I love Jay Crownover’s tales that are tarnished but so perfectly imperfect. Jay Crownover is one of those wondrous writers of brilliant books that break you, bind you, and brandish themselves to you forever. It’s that ‘Crownover Crack’ that hits me hard each time, where I’m rendered with the worst—yet best—emotional hangovers. My Avenged ride through heaven and hell was a riveting roller coaster, one I’d do again in a heartbeat.

She was the promise of everything that could be.

4.5 stars! Jay has done it again!

This is a great sheet story with characters from the Point and Saints of Denver world's from Jay Crownover, set in the Mackenzie world. Readers need no prior knowledge of any of these world in order to enjoy Avenged, so it is both the perfect introduction for be readers and a great return for fans. Good characters, great chemistry, great fun to read!

A fast paced novella about finding the right person at the wrong time. You do not really need to have read the books or series these characters were introduced in to enjoy this one, anything pertinent is explained. But with that being said, fans of Jay Crownover's series will love how she weaved several of book worlds together and added some MacKenzies too.

Two people in need of redemption, acceptance, and forgiveness find themselves thrust together and their collision will be the catalyst for change and create a strong need to fight for more out of life. I enjoyed this story of two lost and broken people finding an unlikely anchor when they least expected it. They are not perfect, they have flaws, and have made mistakes. But everyone deserves a chance to try to be a better person and to find love and acceptance. They just have to figure out if they are going to take it.

No mi gusto. A mi déjenme al tipo malo y si lo suavizan que sea un poco pero no tanto como para que todo lo que salga sea lírica😆.

4 Stars to ~ Avenged: A MacKenzie Family Novella (MacKenzie World #6) is by Jay Crownover.
POV: First -person dual perspectives
Standalone
Genres: Romance, Erotica

Before I go on with my review I should explain something. The MacKenzie World novels were written by author Liliana Hart. Avenged is a crossover novella by Jay Crownover, who is the author that has given us the Marked Men, The Saints of Denver, and The Point series' which are all set in Colorado. This novella simply connects the two author's worlds. Although I have read Jay's series," I have not read any of the MacKenzie novels. That said, I had absolutely no trouble following the incidents in Avenged.

Benny and Echo.......

Benny is from The Point series and Echo is from The Saints of Denver series. The majority of this novella's setting is in Montana, the MacKenzie's home turf.

Benny is in witness protection. He has been relocated to a secluded mountainous region near Surrender, Montana. He lives alone in a small, rustic cabin with only the basics. Benny was not a good man. But circumstances gave him a second chance. He realizes how lucky he is to even be alive. He also realizes that he can't live his life the way he used to. But Benny wasn't sure how he could change.

One fateful night during a snowstorm, Benny literally found the incentive he needed to be a different person. Maybe not a good person, but definitely a better one.

Echo was used to tragic circumstances following her. Unfortunately, Echo grew up making one poor choice after another. One day she decided to clean up her life. Still, bad things continued to follow her. I admired how emotionally strong she is considering how many times she was 'knocked' down. Echo kept getting up, though. What she didn't know though was that Fate decided it was time for Echo to find her happily ever after.

Because this book is a little over 100 pages, I won't give away any details. I will say, however, that I was engaged in this book from page one. I mean that literally. The pace of the writing was steady. I loved the interactions and dialogue between Benny and Echo. Their conversations were realistic and believable. Also, the inner monologue gave me a good perspective to what they were thinking. Jay Crownover also did a fantastic job of connecting me to Benny and Echo.

Two people with dark pasts and poorly made choices in their lives were given a second chance at life. They were also given a chance at unconditional love. Something neither thought they would ever have. This was a great book!

4.25 stars! This novella was so freaking hot! Avenged is a Mackenzie Family novella by Jay Crownover, set in Liliana Hart's Mackenzie Kindle World. This is Echo and Benny's story. Benny is a recovering bad boy from The Point (Jay's Point series) and Echo is the best friend of deceased Zeb's son's mother (from Jay's Saints of Denver series). Benny is in hiding in a cabin the wilderness of Surrender, Montana. He was imprisoned for his crimes, and almost killed, before turning state's witness and informing on his fellow criminals in The Point. The Feds have him stashed there until he can testify. Echo comes crashing into his life when her car literally crashes off the side of the road near his cabin. She has come to Montana seeking revenge for her sister's death. When she wrecks her car and is injured, Ben rescues her and they spend a few days together snowed into his one room cabin during a blizzard. They find they have an instant connection and some off-the-charts chemistry. Neither want to part from each other, but it takes some time and work before they can figure out how they can be together for good.

I highlighted most of this novella as there were so many good parts. Everything I read by Jay Crownover gets better and better. I have always been a fan, but I love each new release more than the last. This novella was no exception. My only complaint was that I wanted more of Echo and Benny together in their everyday life. I know they will last and be happy together, but I'm greedy and I wanted more. I know it's a novella though and it was a pretty long one, so I was still happy with how everything worked out. Echo and Benny are an awesome pair. They were both great characters in their own right, with lots of layers. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop from strangers to lovers. I loved them together and their chemistry was combustible. Jay can write an sizzling sexy scene, that's for sure! There is a shower scene that nearly set my kindle on fire. They both had some baggage from the past to get over, but it all worked out in the end.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novella! I read several other from this series and this one was my favorite. I liked how Echo and Benny tied back to Jay's other series and that there weren't too many other characters from the Mackenzie world to confuse me (unlike some of the other novellas from this Kindle world series). I am looking forward to more awesome books from Jay Crownover!

Benny and Echo meet under less than ideal circumstances. Benny is in WITSEC and stranded in a remote cabin wasting away. Echo has gone on a mission to confront the man her sister fell in love with and, apparently broke her heart. Her sister committed suicide and Echo was looking for someone else to blame and had her sights set on whatever MacKenzie brother she felt was responsible for her sister's despair. Benny finds Echo on the side of the mountain in her wrecked car and bleeding all over the place. Neither one of them led an easy life and both were trying to start a new leaf in life. They found each other and set about trying to discover new things in each other and themselves. Both were brutally honest with their pasts and didn't hide the ugly side of themselves from the other. Benny and Echo find solace and a kindred spirit in the other. When Echo is taken off the mountain to get the medical attention she needs, she hopes Benny will find a way to get to her and let them be together. You will have to read this book to find out if he is successful. The story interwove the Saints of Denver, the Point and the Breaking Point together in such a way that it made sense. I really enjoyed this novella.

This crossover novella was the best of all worlds! I get a little bit of The Point, I get a little bit of The Marked Men, I get a little bit of the Saints of Denver, and I get a whole lot of swoon, honestly whats not to love here?! This crossover was a deliciously quick read that had me grinning from ear to ear with every cameo and surprise name drop that hit me straight in the feels.

It felt good to get back into Jay's writing. I took a little break from her last year and now she is reading like a new to me author. A refreshing narrative that isn't afraid to dive down into the dark, seedy underworlds. The couple was ridiculously adorable and even though it was only a novella, I felt like in the short time the characters really did get to know each other.

There was plenty of drama and how could there not be when my favorite Devil in a suit shows up. But the drama and tension doesn't overshadow the love story and all in all it was the perfect balance of all of Jay's worlds. Honestly, if you are a fan of Jay's writing, just add this to your TBR.

Quickie Review (May contain spoilers, so fair warning upon reading this review)

So Avenged was a very interesting story. I enjoyed how it connected to the Breaking Point series. I haven't read much of the Saints of Denver so couldn't remember the connection there but I know from reading other reviews that there are connections there. I also really was intrigued by the Mackenzie connection and now I have another series to check out here haha but I am not complaining, Lillian Hart has been an author I have been curious about.

I found this novella to be quite interesting. It didn't really wow me if I am being honest. I just didn't really connect with the story like I wanted to. But I adored the serial connections and I enjoyed the aspects of these characters learning to accept each other and their pasts in such a beautiful way that did feel pretty fulfilling. So if you are fans of this author or these two series, I do recommend reading this one here.

Oooh when The Point meets the Saints of Denver things GET GOOD! Ben and Echo have walked on the wrong side of the tracks in their towns for longer than they can remember. But when Echo's mission to find the man her sister left behind leads her straight into the arms of dangerous Ben... Talk about a bad boy.

I loved Ben's character and would've loved to see even more about him. Crownover is exceptional at writing believable bad characters that you want to fight for. Ben has an odd sense of right and wrong that still works out for him to live a lifestyle that would frighten most. Echo shows up in the most dramatic way! Being alone in the woods with a man who can't be 100% honest with his past can get dicey. But don't let the bad boy persona fool you. Ben's 100% sexy and his reaction to Echo leaves nothing to be desired...or everything technically.

Echo..I wanted SO much more about her. If you haven't read books 1 from the SoD and Point series you wouldn't know where she (and Ben) come from but you wouldn't be lost. There's still a history told and a story that could be its own book. And that's something that was lacking really in this novella...I wish it had been a full fledged story on its own. Echo and Ben have an undeniable bond, yes, but they seems to move so quickly in a way that just leaves something out.

Definitely interesting to see two series come together in another world!

4.5 Stars in my Sky!

I’m a big Jay Crownover fangirl so was always going to enjoy this one but it surpassed my expectations of a JC novella!

Not only do we get Jay’s usual swagger but we’re also treated to new characters, old friends and all the crossover fun!

We meet Echo in the most dramatic of circumstances. She’s sweet, damaged and all kinds of funny. Ben is living out in the middle of nowhere in Montana, the home of the Mackenzie’s when Echo makes a dramatic entrance.

I have to admit it took me a second to place Ben and which Jay series I knew him from but then, bam! What a guy! Jay does what she always manages to do and takes a previously unlikable character, turns them around, then has them completely charm us – this is totally what happens with Ben.

Echo is particularly strong. She’s been through a heck of a lot, yet has managed to survive against all the odds.

I loved the hot chemistry between them and liked getting to meet another Mackenzie brother.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

A girl from Saints of Detroit and a boy from The Point. Can it work? Yes it can and it works so well. Book start when girl goes to Montana one thing on her mind but bad weather surprise her. She had accident and hero will help her. He helps her to heal and they both will help each other. I really liked this book.
