Summer has arrived and, with it, an opportunity for Cid Garrett (paranormal investigator for PEEPS) to make some cash as a carpenter. His colleague Jesse Holden has hooked him up with a fill-in position on a multimillion dollar renovation on an isolated 1920s southern mansion called Hidden Meadow. The job is being run by a driven female contractor, Kiki Pickles, who specializes in renovating prewar buildings. She lets Cid know right away that she’s hired him for his carpentry skills and not as a ghost hunter. But Cid is all too aware that in the renovation of old homes, sometimes you have to deal with a myriad of pests, living and dead. Lurking at the top of the stairs is a very cranky ghost. He’s been woken up by the sound of pounding hammers and screeching tile cutters. He can’t do anything about the tools themselves, so he targets his rage at the men and women working on the mansion. Jesse is attacked in one of the three attics in Hidden Meadow and left to die. Cid arrives just in time to fight a black mass, and he surprises it with a good salting. Jesse is saved, but the ghost isn’t finished with them yet, nor is he the only entity that has been released to cause havoc in the first of the “Cid Garrett P. I.” novels. "Cid is the debut novel of the "Cid Garrett P.I. Series written in the "Haunted Series" universe.

My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read.
Once upon a time…
I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads.
It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.

I love Cid

I really loved this book!!! I love Cid in the Haunting Series and now a new series starring Cid!! This book will have you sitting on the edge and laughing. Cid was asked to spend the summer helping with renovations of a huge mansion. Of course, there are the ghosts, the woman boss the the others. Can't wait for the next one!!!

Good spin off series

I enjoyed the book but must admit to missing Did Garrett's side kicks-best friends-fellow Peep's Gang from the Haunted series, though they are mentioned often in this book. The timeline (for those of you reading the Haunted Series by Alexis Aaron) of this new series., Cid Garrett P.I., starts during the time of Mia Cooper Martin's second pregnancy (Varden Martin) hopefully this will help you when it references stories about Cid's life with the PEEP's gang and where he lives when not on these short times off for this storyline. My advise is to read the Haunted Series first or at least start them (it's a very long series - 34 wonderful books with the 35th book hopefully coming out soon) until you come to the book when Mia is pregnant with Varden ! I wish that I had started reading this book when it references Cid taking a break to do a renovation job but I had no idea that this first book started up about that time. I just assumed it began after the last book in the Haunted Series until I found out a new book was coming out in the Haunted Series. Still this is a fun read. I hope my review helped and didn't totally confuse you if you are reading it to help you decide to purchase this book. I will say that I have enjoyed each book this Author has written and though sex is mentioned in many books (as frankly it's the natural part of living) it never has explicit smutty scenes - so if you like smut you won't find them in Alexie Aaron's books!

Cid finally is on his own! I really enjoyed seeing Cid in action. He does consult with Mia once or twice but basically this his haunt to fix... and what a haunted place this house is. (Faye, the ghost with amnesia, Teeth, the house demon, Gwenn, the screaming lady, a mean ghost, 3 singing sister ghosts and maybe more) I enjoyed the inter action between Cid, his friend Jesse and their boss Kiki Pickles. We also learn more about Jake (the ghost in the computer) through his friendship with Kiki Pickles. This was very sweet.
I have loved the Peeps books by this author and thoroughly enjoyed this one as well. Can't wait for the next one (be it about Mia and Peeps or Cid on his own)

I love a great ghost story!

I have read every book Alexie has written in each series, and the lady never disappoints me. My favorite is her Haunted series about a paranormal group called PEEPS for short, and Cid Garrett is an important character in that series. In this new set of adventures for Cid, he is the hero of the story, and it has all the twists, turns, and mystery to keep you turning pages. Loved it!

Hello Haunted house!

Just as Cid thinks he's left PEEPS behind for a breather to join a friend and earn some extra money, he's back in spooks and spackle!

This is an offshoot of the brilliant PEEPs series.

It is a classic ghost hunting tale , and like the PEEPs books it is great fun and an easy read.

Construction and the Paranormal

Wow! A little spooky, a lot of fun and wonderful turns and twists, make this a wild romp through a haunted mansion. The characters are wonderfully drawn and people you would love to meet. Her take on the paranormal is different, but it covers all the bases to tie up the end of the story nicely. A few swear words to keep the feel of a haunted or accident plagued construction crew are acceptable. The lack of sex scenes was a pleasant surprise, as well.
