Texas Rose Ranch #2

Texas Rose Always

Rate this book
Justus Jacobi loves three things: her seven-year-old son, landscape design, and the man she sees only once a year. For the past ten years, they’ve spent a surreal week together, but Justus has never considered their relationship anything but a dream—especially since they’ve never exchanged their real names. But when Justus comes to the Texas Rose Ranch to work, fantasy becomes reality fast…

Houston “Rowdy” Rose is an award-winning vintner, the second son in the Texas Rose Ranch dynasty…and the keeper of a secret that, if discovered, would make him an outsider in his own family. If they knew where he went the first week of every September, it would throw into question his reputation—reserved, cautious—revealing an unbridled artistic side he’d rather keep hidden.

But that side of Rowdy is all Justus knows—until now. As they rekindle their passionate relationship in the real world, they learn what their lives look like outside of a once-a-year romance—and whether love can survive a reality check.

I like it, eventhought I wanted to smack the hero's head half of the book.
He wasn't a mean guy, just clueless and at the end it made him seem very selfish.
Oh well, the storyline may look like another secret baby book but actually the antagonist about it only lasted for couple or three chapters. It's more like how the heroine and the kiddo settled into this loving family and the hero man up and realised most of what he believed not as scary as he thought will be.

I like this book but I still love Place Your Bett more thought:)

Warning do not start reading this book late at night. Unless you want to be up all night, engrossed in this book. I haven't read the first book in this series, I must rectify this. I adored the romance between Rowdy and Justus. They first met at burning man, and have continued to meet at the festival every year. Justus is keeping a big secret from Rowdy, they have a son together. This year Justus decides to give the festival a miss. Instead she is heading to Texas to start a landscape gardening job. What she doesnt know is that the job is for her lovers family. Rowdy comes back from burning man, dejected that she want there. Only to find her at his place, then he gets the shock of his life to learn they have a son together. I loved the whole cast of characters, they were so welcoming to Justus and Hugh, even before they found out they were family. I'm not really a dog person , yet I found Elvis to be so funny. I hope I have intrigued you to want to pick up a copy.

I enjoyed this one very much! It's filled with humor and snarky banter. This Rose family is so much fun and Justus and her son Hugh fit right in. Every year for the last 10 years Houston "Rowdy" Rose and Justus have met up at Burning Man. A week long event where these two share everything but their real names. They share their passions, dreams, and life desires. Houston always made it clear that children weren't in his plans...ever.Justus "aka Daisey" never let him know that they had a son. The first year she decides not to attend the event, fate has her turning up at his family ranch as the new landscape designer. One look at her son Hugh and there is no doubt who the father is. Can these two who thought they knew the other so well get to know the people they really are and learn to love?

This is a very fun story and a book I would recommend to everyone.

I am making book 2 my fave due to all the greatness within this book ... I love these characters ... I love Justice and Candy. I love the Rose family and those sexy hunky ranchin' men ... this series is awesome!! you gotta check it out. I found this series in my Audible suggestion area ... just finished this beauty. I love the narrator ... Natalie Ross ... her voice and fun, funny and will make you LOL! Part of that deserves to go to the writer as well .. she wrote the funny-ness too. I think my favorite character is Hugh or Leftie (not sure how to spell that, I am listening, remember?!) Check this series out please. I am so happy that I found Katie's writing ... I look forward to reading more from her soon, soon enough!! ( ;

Couple meets at Burning Man. After several years, she keeps hinting for marriage and family. He turns her down for 11 years. Turns out they have a seven-year-old son but she has issues about her mother who rejected her. Therefore, she feels justified in not mentioning said child.

Anyway . . . on the 11th year she decides not to go and that's the year he decides to propose. All is lost!
No, it's not. (Whew) She's just accepted a job at his family's ranch.

Ms. Graykowski writes a solid, family-filled romance chock full of humor and emotion.

Rowdy Rose is the second eldest of the Rose brothers. He has the magic touch in producing well received wine and now is about to take his creations to the next level. Coming from a ranching family, Rowdy has never felt like he quite fit in, he’s more artist than rancher and his wine making was at first seen as a hobby by his family, until it started to bring in high praises in the wine world. No one in his family knows of his other talent, his beautiful art that could grace the walls of the highest end clients or museums. No, those he keeps for himself and shares them with only one other person in the world. The woman he loves, the woman he shares one week each year with at the Burning Man Festival. There they only know each other as Houston and Daisy – their love is true, but Houston doesn’t see commitment in their future or children. No, children are a deal breaker for him. What they have is perfect, and if he might want more well, he pushes that aside until the next meeting with Daisy when his world is once again right. Until this year, when he’s ready to finally make that commitment, to say I love you and follow it up with a question that he hopes she’ll say yes to… but this year there was no Daisy at Burning Man.

As Justice is heading down the dusty driveway with her young son at her side, she can’t help but think of where she would usually be this time of year. At Burning Man with Houston. No, she made the right choice to stop going. Children were a deal breaker for the man she loved, and looking at this precious child beside her she couldn’t understand why.. She’d continued to meet him year after year, long after Hugh was a baby, long after she might hove told him about their child… but it was better this way. This job would secure their future financially and she was looking forward to getting started on Mrs. Rose’s birthday present of landscaping for her beautiful home from her sons. Really, it all will turn out for the best, and if she tells herself that often enough maybe eventually she’ll start to believe it.

Justus had no idea that she had introduced her son to his grandparents, his uncles and soon to be aunt, who happened to be her best friend. Not until she heard his voice, turned and saw not her Houston but a man in an expensive three piece business suit with not a cowboy boot in sight. The irony hit her straight in the heart, the good natured joking about the missing brother and how he disappeared each year for a week. She’d told them where he probably went since she usually went to Burning Man the first week of September as well. How could she have known that while she was avoiding him, she was right here waiting for him at his home.

I am loving the Texas Rose Ranch series. The characters are so well drawn that they leap off the page as fully functional people with such personalities you’ll think they are your best friends. I admit that I am now always watching and waiting for the next brother’s story, knowing that I’ll not only have a fantastic romance in store but will get to have a visit with old friends as well.

Rowdy and Justus are two people who know and love each other, but they know only a small part of their lives away from that one week each year. I never doubted that their love was real, if unrealistic should they ever meet. When you only show one side to the person you love, you are denying them and yourself the chance to love the whole person. Rowdy still isn’t totally on-board with the whole father thing, he is so set in his ways, so determined to hide his real self from his family that he cannot see one beautiful tree for the huge forest surrounding it. So, of course, he puts his foot firmly in his mouth almost constantly. He’s angry, yet his love is still strong – and he is so confused. On the surface Justus seems to be taking all this in stride, but she’s a mom and well versed in keeping the mom face in place when she has too. She’ll hope for a good solution to all this, but she won’t keep her hopes up very high. When Justus has a serious accident, true colors come out very clearly. It’s obvious that Rowdy wants her and their son to be part of his life but he has no clue how to act. Going with his instincts he creates a home for Hugh and Justus while she heals and plans to convince her to give them another chance. Watching them redefine their roles, their love for each other and accept what is reality not just one week of the year was truly a wonderful experience.

I enjoyed this couple and their romance very much and would recommend this story for any reader who enjoys a good, solid romance full of bantering, humor and believable characters. I loved it and cannot wait for the next one to arrive.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*

Had a hard time finishing it

I am a little surprised at how highly rated this book is. I guess since it's part of a series, readers want to continue on and overlook any bad parts that stick out. This book had potential and started off with an interesting plot. Two people meet for a week once a year, have fun being themselves, and then go back to their lives, but the twist is that they meet each other outside of that week and find out all sorts of surprises. Up until Houston and Daisy meet at his family's ranch, the book was pretty good.

Spoilers ahead.

But after that, it just went downhill. Those two kept constantly arguing, and suddenly, the book switches gears to Daisy falling out of a tree and in the hospital. Then, there is this big wine launch that needs all of their attention. But wait, Daisy's long, lost mom shows up at the launch. It's just constant scene switching and unnecessary drama thrown in.

It was very annoying how everyone was suddenly throwing out all of their secrets at once. Houston painting, Lucy reading gossip magazines and keeping Houston's artwork as a kid, Bear working on mosaics, etc. Each chapter seemed like it had a new secret revealed and even though the book makes the Rose family sound very loving and supportive, it's like no one talks to each other about anything. Also, it was very odd how Daisy's mom just randomly shows up at the end (knew where to go and everything, without talking to anyone), and everyone is calmly talking about ways to torture and kill her. Since they heard she was a bad mom, apparently their first conversation with her is telling her how they will kill her. Again, it's like the book kept adding unnecessary drama.

It's not a book I would recommend reading as a romance novel, but if you liked the first book in the series, then I'm sure you would want to continue reading about the rest of the family's story.

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

Texas Rose Always by Katie Graykowski
A Texas Rose Ranch Novel, Book 2

Soul mates and dream lovers but only for a week once a year – that is what Daisy and Houston are. At points in their annual relationship there might have been hope for more but it never happened AND when suddenly they come face to face in real life and real time things are not as dreamlike as they were at Burning Man. With much to work through, including the son Houston/Rowdy never knew he had (for good reason), and secrets neither thought they were ready to face this was a story that I could not put down and had to finish in one sitting. I will say that at first I thought Justus/Daisy was a fool to fall for the man she did BUT as I read further I warmed to her choice in more ways than one. And, as I read, my rating of this book moved from a solid four to a five.

I had not read book one of the series, am glad I was given an ARC of book two by Montlake Romance through NetGalley and now look forward to reading book three when it is available. This is my honest review.

Delightful! I read the book in one afternoon because it is a perfect romance (for me). Justus (Daisy) Jacobi is a landscape designer, a mother and an independent woman. She is raising her son alone because the father of the child told her that he never wanted children and she did not want her son to feel unwanted.
The couple have a long-distance relationship and they only see each other once a year so the father has no idea he has a son.
Then Justus gets a job landscaping the grounds of his parents' home (they had used aliases with each other) and comes to realize that the loving Rose family is her son's family through his father.
When Rowdy (she knew him as Houston) returns home and realizes he has a son, the fireworks begin!
Have already bought the first book in the series and am looking forward to the third book (Dallas and Rosie?)

I liked this book, but I didn't love it. It was a fun book to read, lightweight and frothy, with good family dynamics. I also really enjoyed the first book, so I was looking forward to this one because I'm a big fan of the secret baby trope. The problem is that although I enjoy that trope, I'm also selective with it. For it to work, there has to be a reasonable reason why the heroine keeps the child a secret from the hero. I'm willing to give my heroines pretty wide latitude in their judgement, but in this book, for me, that bar was not reached. Justus, the heroine, kept the secret of her son's birth from his father for seven years for no good reason other than .

Rowdy was a nice enough guy but a bit of a whiny, immature prat. His reasons for keeping his once a year trip to Burning Man secret from his family were laughable. I sometimes wondered whether he was 17, not 30 or so. Actually, Justus and Rowdy made a good pair because they both were pretty immature emotionally even though outwardly they were both successful business people who seemed to have their lives together. In summary, the book was fun to read and I did enjoy it as long as I ignored the immaturity of the main characters. They weren't bad or annoying, it's just that I wanted to slap some sense into both of them a couple of times. I'll probably read more of the author's books as I do like her style, and I really enjoyed the first book.

Daisy and Houston met every year at the Burning Man festival - until she decided that it was time to move on. After all, having children was a deal breaker for Houston and Daisy had never told him about the son he fathered seven years ago. Imagine both their surprise when Daisy happens to be the landscaper the family hired for a major project - and she brought her son along!

The story is about family, feeling connected, and being loved for who you are. Houston (who goes by Rowdy when he's home) and Justus (Daisy's real name) both have issues they're dealing with.

For the most part, I enjoyed the story. I think the brotherly teasing the Rose men engage in is a bit much. Houston and Justus seem to communicate well but there are times when he seems utterly clueless and puts his foot in his mouth. What really bothered me were the "cute" word play names: Just Us (rather than Justice) and Can Dee (rather than Candy). Also, one of the twins had a strong aversion to Rose. I wish that was explained.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I would like to say I will definitely be reading more!! This story was GREAT!! Houston (Rowdy) Rose is a very private man except one week a year when he follows his passion of art and loosens up enough to enjoy life. Justus (Daisy) Jacobi is an independent women who doesn't need a man to enjoy life. She goes on vacation one week a year to meet up with the man she loves (Houston) then leaves him at the end of that week to return to "real" life. This is the perfect relationship until Justus finds herself pregnant and wanting more then one week. What happens when you want more than the other person is willing to give? Trouble is what!! This story was heartfelt, sexy, lovable and fun! ! LOVED it!!

***I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a review.***

I enjoyed this story. It was well written and the story flowed nicely. There were laughs, tears, romance, and a little breath holding. The characters that returned were still a hoot, as were most of the new ones (exception was the egg donor!). Burning Man sounds like an interesting get away. I will patiently await the next installment of the Rose family, which I think you get a glimpse of in the end of this story.

All’s well that ends well.

I enjoyed returning to the Rose Ranch and spending time with the Rose family and all its branches (even those to-be).

It was a relief that Rowdy finally got to be at peace with all aspects of his personality & self co-existing. And that Justus was finally at peace with her formerly-fractured-and-now-permanently-broken-because-egg-donor-is-a-toxic-b*tch relationship (or lack thereof) with bio-Mom.

On to the next installment!

Big secrets and confidence issues keep them apart...

One week a year they use another name and become other people. Or do they become themselves? Rowdy and Justus both have family issues when it comes to being accepted for who they are. Both have big secrets they've been keeping. What will it take for them to both become themselves and accept each other and all the secrets? This is a great family story. I want more about the Texas Rose Ranch. Recommended.

Great second chance

Buttoned up vintner or free spirited artist? Which one is Rowdy/Houston? And is Justus/Daisy telling him what he needs to know or what he wants to hear?

Going from Burning Man only to every day puts everything on the table.

And is either of them vegetarian or is that a Burning Man only thing?

This was a pretty good romance novel, with one glaring exception. I absolutely hated Rowdy. I still don't like him. Considering how much I loved the rest of his family, I found it very strange. Other than that it was a very enjoyable read.

I loved this book! It's nothing like the movie with Alan Alda where he meets a women for a weekend once a year. I hated that movie. This book is lively & keeps you guessing. I love the humor & sarcasm used in the book. I guess my favorite character is Dr. Lucy. She is extremely smart, witty, & gives great advice that people actually listen to.

Loved Justus and Rowdy's story. It was a quick read with a good story line and all the great characters from the Texas Rose Ranch. Could've used some editing/spell check throughout, but this didn't take away from the story. I will definitely read more of this series. I won this book through Goodreads Giveaways.

The real deal

Rowdy Rose was straight laced as they come. European designer suits, all business, and as little cowboy as possible. Except once a year he allowed his artist's soul come out to play. Justus loves the "burner" man who has stolen her heart. Will love endure the truth. Is there a happily ever after in the cards?

Sometimes Love Hurts

This book is about a cowboy who wanted to be anything but a cowboy. He was in love with a woman but didn't want children. For her this was a deal breaker. They meet up again unexpectedly and things get rocky. When tragedy strikes true love with no reservations comes out. You will cry at times and laugh until it hurts other times. Definitely a must to read.

I love this series

I didn't think that I could love it more than CanDee & Cinco's story. But it is every bit as good and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I love all the characters, especially Lucy and Bear and how they are with the family. It would awesome to have their story as a prequel

Rowdy Rose is keeping secrets on where he goes every year at the same time. The whole family is betting on what he is doing.

Justus has come to the ranch to do the landscaping for the family.

Wait til Rowdy and Justus connect.
