Some really good tips about what foods affect your face and how. More targeted towards people who really care about signs on their skin though. I'd recommend the book "How Not to Die" for more general purpose tips on how to care for overall health. Both of them essentially have the same message at the end of the day though: cut down on sugar, alcohol, gluten, and dairy. Well, the how not to die book emphasizes more on avoiding fried foods, which I'm surprised that Talib seems to gloss over. Fried and spicy foods are big food groups that increase inflammation. Talib does briefly mention stress and anxiety management, but that probably requires a whole 'nother book. Overall the book does offer some novel insights, and I'm glad she also mentions TCM/acupuncture as well as the use of snail mucin!
Like other reviewers, I can't say I learnt a lot of new information from this book. Either because the medical information was too detailed or advanced for me to understand or because the more "layperson" information was what is already out there.
I found it hard to "digest". I am relatively health-cautious and patient, so I am not sure how catchy it would be for some less interested in living a healthy life. I think the book fails to address a wider audience, sometimes it feels as if the author is talking to other nutritionists, not the average reader.
Interesting book. Take magnesium and omega 3 Think young Enjoy life Eat healthily Exercise - yoga is good and walking Sweat three times a week Have a skincare routine Use ‘saa, taa naa maa using thumb and first finger then all the way to little finger. There is such a thing as sugar face and wine face Use silk pillow cases
I can't say I learned anything new from reading this book. Except that if you reduce your inflammation, you reduce your weight. What causes inflammation is alcohol, sugar, gluten and dairy. Nothing I didn't know before reading it.
Key takeaway - minimise or remove gluten, sugar, dairy and alcohol from your diet and make sure you pooh daily (not rocks or sloppy Joe's but ideally long intact S shapes).
