J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and #1 International bestselling author of over one hundred novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.
Though known primarily for her award-winning and international bestselling erotic romances (including the Stark and Most Wanted series) that have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list, JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, and paranormal mommy lit.
JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swoon for them.” A six time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy) and in 2017 for Wicked Dirty in the same category. Her Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series (as Julie Kenner) is currently in development as a television show.
Her books have sold over three million copies and are published in over twenty languages.
In her previous career as an attorney, JK worked as a clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced primarily civil, entertainment and First Amendment litigation in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, as well as in Austin, Texas. She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.
Damien and Nikki are back from their honeymoon and just in time for Valentine's Day. Nikki is a little upset thinking Damien has forgotten but of course, he hasn't...she just has to play his game.
Even though I had just got done with the series recently, I was really happy to see this coming out. It's always nice to get an update on this couple and what a wonderful story it is!
I loved Damien's Valentine scavenger hunt. I think that JK was quite inventive in coming up with all the clues but it was maybe a little too easy with how Nikki put things together.
Nikki's gift was really thoughtful...and from the heart. I loved that she was able to come up with something meaningful for the man who has everything.
And of course, there's plenty of romance and steaminess...I mean we are talking about Damien and Nikki, right? Even with a novella...there's plenty of spice! ;)
Unfortunately, there is more drama. And it's getting even more spiteful if that's even possible. I both hated and loved that it was left open ended...it just means we get another story! (I hope!)
I loved the little present when they got home as well...just what Nikki needed. It was sweet that Damien is so thoughtful!
And we get an intro to Jackson Steele with an excerpt from his book, Say My Name, from the Stark International series coming out April 7, 2015. He was a little intense but I'm sure JK will make it work.

This is the third (#3.7) of the "after the trilogy" novellas about Damien and Nikki Stark. Only to be read after the trilogy and other novellas. It is short and basically meant to give us a background story to lead into .
It is the week before Valentine's Day and Nikki thinks master of the universe and her husband, Damien, has forgotten about it. Little does she know, he hasn't. Nikki only has to "Play his Game" to get her present. And what a very sweet present it is. Who knew Damien was so soft and "animalistic" at the same time? I loved it!
They go on a spa getaway to the Bahamas and this is where we meet Mr. Jackson Steele which sets us up for the story in .
I will say, having already read Say My Name before this one, Say My Name makes more sense now, getting the backstory.
To the point: if you're a diehard Damien and Nikki fan(like me) and just want another small glimpse into their life, this book is for you. If you've read the Stark Trilogy and didn't enjoy it, then you won't enjoy this. I'm only counting off 1/2 star for the very short length and that's because I'm greedy.

I love the little game. It's cute and thoughtful and fun. Damien Stark and Nikki Fairchild Stark are starting their life as husband and wife. They are sweet, adorable (don't tell Damien I called him that!), and so very frisky. 🔥🔥🔥
“As far as you and I are concerned, a week is practically a lifetime.” -- Nikki Fairchild Stark
For a couple with a serious case of insta-love and moving at the speed of light, truer words couldn't be spoken.
Of course, some haters have come out of the woodwork. Ugh! But even more fascinating are the introduction of Jackson Steele and more glimpses of Ryan Hunter with Jamie. Both men get their own books, so that's something else to look forward to. 🎉💥 (I've read Jackson's series, and there's a reason he's a close second on my BBF list, tied with Gideon Cross. Damien is #1)
I really liked the novella. Usually I am not a fan of authors who expand their trilogies or series like that, but I approve this one. I loved the treasure hunt. I am quite happy when I see a couple been so in love with each other and blissful. To be honest, I would like a novella happening when Nikki finds she is pregnant or when the time for their first child is coming.
There is a guest star appearance of Jamie and Ryan, which is nice. Of course, there is some drama happening, but it's mostly about Damien and Nikki are being happy and strong. I believe that the little mystery that was left unsolved will lead to a new novella or it will be part of the plot of the Stark International books. I don't think the author will leave us wondering who was being the stuff that happened.
Play My Game is a novel part of the Stark saga and this book is part of the extended epilogue series that is done by this author to give us more insights into this couple after they have received their HEA. In Play My Game, its coming up on their anniversary on Valentines Day (those who have read this couple know how important this day is to them specifically) and Damien Stark, is wanting to do something special for his wife Nikki, and embarks on a challenge for her, a bit of a game, where she has to discover clues to get to the special gift he has for her. This is especially delightful to read if you have loved these books and especially this couple. And it does have some connections to the Stark International series as we do have a moment of running into Jackson.
I absolutely had such a BALL OF FUN with Damien and Nikki again. It was truly so wonderful to get back to this couple. so much so I am debating doing a re read of them lol They are most definitely one of my favorite couples for contemporary. Seeing them all in love with each other and just embracing the domestic lifestyle was beyond endearing. It kept me with a smile on my face and with a bit of mystery as they are being blackmailed.
Overall I had a blast with this novella and returning to this wonderful world that captured my heart years ago!
Questions for my readers: Have you read J. Kenner? If so who is your favorite couple? Let me know in the comments below!
For my wife for Valentine’s Day, A proposition, if I may— Three clues for you, You know what to do— And if you want your present to claim, You’re going to have to play my game Now here’s the clue that I speak of: Tell me, darling Nikki, what is sweeter than Love?
A novella about Damien and Nikki's first Valentine's as a married couple. Although it was a short story, it was packed with sweet romance, hot scenes, and the ever-present intrigue and outside forces trying to cause problems for our seductive billionaire. Now that they were married, people were aware of Mr. Stark's kryptonite, the one person he would do anything and everything for. He used to be invincible, arrogant of his power, because there was no one he cared enough for who can be used to hurt him. With Nikki in his life, he found himself vulnerable. His enemies as well as those who wanted to take advantage of him now have a person to target to get to him, because the mere thought of making Nikki uncomfortable or threatened could bring him to his knees.
But he wasn't the infamous Damien Stark for nothing. He was the guy who could do a million things to protect his wife while giving her the best Valentine's she could hope for.
This is our first peek into married life for Nikki and Damien. They seem to be settling in well. Damine is the king of romance, Nikki is so fortunate. A lot of this center’s around Valentine’s Day, Nikki and Damien’s first together. They have been through so much I forget they haven’t been together all that long. As usual these two are very sweet and thoughtful in their gift giving.
it felt a less inspired story. it had it's moments, but overall, I wanted more. I felt the story was thin. I grew tired of the scripted scenes of intimacy. Perhaps I have read too much of these characters, but less detail might have a stronger effect. The writing of the scenes weren't remarkable. They could easily been inserted anywhere in the story without any adverse effect, they were that much alike. Sorry I wanted more from the characters and yhe author.
Loved catching up with Damien and Nikki. Post marriage life is suiting them, just a shame that everyone else cannot leave them alone!! (review to come)
So I couldn't wait for this because I have LOVED this series, but this was so short and lacking of any real plot that I am disappointed I even paid $1.99 for it. Trying not to spoil what happens but this is entirely about their Valentine's Day, and the "dramatic" element to the story wasn't even wrapped up. Something bad might happen, and in the end it doesn't and that's the end of it. There's no answer to whodunit and the incredibly short novella just ends. Kinda lame, it's too bad because the books were so good, these novellas haven't had much story. They feel like the author just had to get some quick cash so she pushed out something fans would want to read, and gave us nothing. Sad.
I love Damien Stark and Nikki Stark. They are my favourite couple to read. This novella is when they are married and enjoying their honeymoon. I love their dialogue and they are disgustly in love that it makes me sick lol. It seems there is always someone after them and they never get rest from the outside world. There is always a new threat or someone who just wants to cause trouble for them. This novella also introduces Jackson Steele and I cant wait to read about him and Sylvia. Thank you J Kenner for introducing the Stark Series to me...
“I croissant?” “Viziare mia moglie.” Sorrido semplicemente.
Play My Game is a brief glimpse into the now married life of Damien and Nikki. It focuses on their first Valentine's Day as a married couple. Damien sets a scavenger hunt in place for Nikki leading up to the days before Valentine's Day. The story is full of romance and emotion, and lots of sex, but that is exactly what I expect from these two.
We also get some suspense in this book, with some anonymous person trying to blackmail Damien and Nikki, which has happened to them before in previous books, but this time around Nikki's best friend Jamie gets pulled into the fray. While Nikki and Damien are trying to get back into the swing of working and starting a normal everyday life, they are now dealt another obstacle they must overcome.
It was great seeing more of our two beautifully damaged people. We also get an introduction to Jackson Steele, who Julie will be premiering in her new Stark International Trilogy. We also got a small glimpse at several other characters from Nikki and Damien's past, some good, some not so good.
The story ended at 85% which I was disappointed with, I didn't want to end! Things are not settled at the end of this story, so I can only assume there will be another novella continuing their story where this one leaves off. There is also an excerpt of Say My Name, which will be book 1 in the new trilogy, laying out the story of Jackson Steele and Damien's assistant, Sylvia Brooks.
We pick back up with Nikki & Damien right after their honeymoon…they’re adjusting to their new life as husband and wife and it’s still a little surreal. The title of the novella ‘Play My Game’ is in reference to a game Damien creates surrounding Valentine’s Day; this game is adorable AND sexy. Damien continues to be unnervingly desirable and the connection between him and Nikki only grows with each page. There was a lot of swooning taking place while I read this novella. Nikki’s great here too – she’s conquering her demons, leaning on Damien as she should & finding her footing in her new crazy world. I loved that Nikki gets a little bit stronger every time that we see her.
OF COURSE there’s drama to be dealt with and an introduction to Mr. Jackson Steele to be made (the leading man in the Stark International series – coming soon!!!). I loved every single page. Nikki and Damien make me smile wide every time I get a new glimpse into their lives. The love they share is unending and perfect, even when the world is not. I could probably read twenty million more pages about them and not get bored – so keep them coming J. Kenner!!! loved this!!
This book is another single person perspective told from her perspective. This features the time right after the honeymoon before real life starts until Valentines Day. Even more drama, blackmail can have so many different avenues and they keep getting new ones. I will say the game was put together fabulously from Damien. This book had even more hot moments. I am very intrigued by Jackson Steele and his comment about the long shadow that Damien casts. He is not wrong at all. I am all in with the next book. There is no stopping after this book, you must continue on to the next one at least.
Okay about the book. I ve read the entire series so I love them all and know the characters. However, this author has a way of writing a Novella where the story could stand alone. She gives you a few sentences of back story to connect the characters so a new reader won't feel lost. Ms Kenner gives us what we expect of Nikki and Damien encounters along with a bit of suspense.
Me aburrí. Mucho. Muchísimo. Aunque suene mal debo reconocerlo.
I'm a sucker for Damien and Nikki. I've loved all their books (full books and novellas). We get a peek into Mr. and Mrs. Stark's married life and get a Valentine's Day game from Damien to Nikki. There's also someone trying to hurt them and their relationship. A bit of suspense to go with their always hot relationship.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I love the turbulent romance between Damien Stark and Niki Fairchild and this is just another chapter to paste into their life book I will never be able to get enough of Mr & Mrs Stark.
