Rae Ann Lewis needed to escape a life that included her shattered marriage and ruined career. Kyle Bennett wants to help her start over but he has secrets of his own. Now they both must confront their fears and pasts in order to survive a raging snowstorm and relentless murderer.
Not my typical genre, but the end was exciting. I moved through the beginning and the end of the book pretty quickly, but got stuck in the middle for quite a while. I should probably also note that my rugby season impacted how much time I had to read this year, and that I'm a slow reader in general.
The ending felt a little out of left field, but not in a way I found bothersome. I mean, I expected the epilogue, but the last third of the book until that point, I couldn't have predicted.
There was only one part of the book I didn't like. At one point more time was spent describing Rae Ann's lunch process than was spent on a description of Garden of the Gods. I went to college in Southern Illinois and Garden of the Gods is a remarkably beautiful landscape. And that's about as much description as there was. That the scene was beautiful. It would have been nice to read more about the trees and the rock formations.
Overall, a good casual read. Would recommend for a vacation or commute reader.
