MACRO is an ambitious anthology of image macros (images paired with words, intended for digital circulation) from over 120 artists. As one of the first anthologies to ever cover image macros within a literary context, MACRO documents the rise of the image macro as poetry from 2011-2015.
Good idea, maybe, but the curation was poor. And it was unclear what made these "image macros" (not memes!) more geared toward poetry, or influenced by poetry, than other image macro/memes. And then I think of all the people who make work like this who weren't included and what the book could have been vs. what it was, etc etc. I've seen the same problems with curation/intent in poetry/comics anthologies.
