Dr. Sharon J. Sherman is dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Rider University. Since coming to Rider in 2009, she and her team have led successful NCATE and CAEP reaccreditations, initiated partnerships with local school districts, developed faculty-led global study tours, fostered creativity and innovation, and spearheaded the revitalization of graduate and undergraduate programs in education and human services. With her support, her team developed Rider's first doctorate. She has been successful in bringing significant private & corporate foundation and federal & state grant funding to Rider to support program development and P-12 partnerships.
Formerly a professor at The College of New Jersey, for 14 years she taught mathematics and science methods courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. She was co-founder and director of TCNJ’s Center for Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education and also served as department chair. Before coming to TCNJ, she led the science education program at Princeton University, where her team developed partnerships with urban schools in STEM disciplines.
She is author of Science and Science Teaching: Science Is Something You Can Do! (Houghton Mifflin) and Science and Science Teaching: Methods for Integrating Technology in Elementary and Middle Schools (Houghton Mifflin).
