Wow. I didn't think it could happen, but I think this book was even better than the first book "The Art Of Ethan". First of all, not only does the Grace and Ethan play a big role in this book too, the storyline and plot are as interesting and well developed.
Joshua has changed his lifestyle. He once was a detective and lived to protect and serve his fellow man. When his partner is killed in the line of fire, being the responsible man he is, he decides to look out for his partner's pregnate girlfriend. When he discovers that she is just using him, and has not feelings for him whatsoever, he decides a change is in order. Becoming a teacher was a natural progression for him. He is tough, but sensitive, so when Grace hooks him up as a teacher in her old job he immediately jumps on it.
He is just getting used to the slower, more easy living lifestyle when Grace's mysterious and dangerous friend Evelyn appears in his kitchen.
Evelyn is running for her life. An ex-marine and bounty hunter she is now being hunted by her father. She is a very strong willed woman who has survived physical and mental abuse from her father. (there is MUCH more to this, but you'll just have to read what it is...I don't want to spoil it too much)
Joshua is immediate drawn to her. He sees past the badass persona she exibits and shows her that not all men are cruel and heartless.
Evelyn knows that she has issues she much work through, but the more she is around Josh, the more she wants to trust and depend on him. This surprises her, because Evelyn has never had to depend on anyone.
I loved this book. Watching Josh and Evelyn develop from strangers to friends to lovers was wonderful. THe storyline was well paced, and not only were there heartfelt moments, but laugh out loud moments as well. I found myself really getting excited to watch Josh and Evelyn come together despite the danger and odds against them.
I think that Ms. North definately can write about strong heroes and heroines that not only you can identify with, but actually care about.
I can't wait to read the next installment in tis series. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
If you are offended by some dirty language and explict sex, well this book is not for you...otherwise if you are like me, read and enjoy it! I know I did:)

I need to say up front that if it hadn’t been for the myriad printing/editing errors, I would probably have given “Chasing Joshua” by Cara North four stars. But unfortunately for me, the errors were so numerous they kept yanking me out of the story! Misspellings, incorrect words, and the occasional grammar mistakes don’t bug me so much, but when I find myself starting to count them…that’s not good!

She’s a hand-to-hand and weapons fighting expert bounty hunter in trouble. He’s a former big-city undercover cop turned elementary school teacher. She despises men…all men. He’s looking for a gentle woman to settle down with. Yet somehow, it doesn’t take long for these two to realize the attraction between them is strong and the longer they’re together, the stronger it gets. Something’s just got to give.

I loved the first book in this series. I liked the plot line for this one. But there were missing pieces of the story and the action tended to jump rather than flow. I also had a hard time buying the heroine’s rapid mellowing and the quickness with which she was willing to spill her deepest secrets to the hero. I would also have liked to have seen the mystery fleshed out a bit better as some parts of it left me confused even after the ending.

Did I still like the book? Well, yes I did. If you can find a later printing with corrections it would be well worth it. Or if things like that don’t bother you like they do me, then this is certainly a story I’d recommend. There’s a bit of suspense, a bit of action, a whole lot of sexual tension and some nice, hot sex.

So I read this 6 years ago, gave it 3 stars, and actually wrote a real review. And that review was glowing. But I deleted it because what the fuck was I thinking? I'm DNFing this at 11% because if I have to read the phrase "especially a man" one more fucking time, I will physically light my eyeballs on FIRE.

Evelyn wasn’t going to apologize to a man.
She didn’t want to feel anything, especially not for a man.
She didn’t like people knowing too much about her, especially a man.
And there was no way she was going to look that weak in front of a man.
Men were scum, abusers and losers in her opinion.

Jesus fuck, could you hate men a little harder, Evelyn? I understand this does not go on through the whole book, but we're only in chapter one! And I'm already so enraged by this character's misandry, I can't push through. I don't want to waste what little free time I have on this man-hating bitch.

The second book in Cara North's Beaufort series. Joshua Young, who was introduced in book 1, The Art of Ethan, is Ethan's cousin. He has quit the police force and is now a teacher in Beaufort, North Carolina. One night he is woken and finds a woman with a gun in his house. She is Evelyn Blade, a friend of Grace (also from book 1) and an ex-marine, now bounty hunter. Evelyn is beaten up pretty badly and once Joshua contacts Grace and Evelyn realizes that Joshua is a good guy, weapons are lowered.

Another good one. I may just like this one slightly more than the first book in the series. Evelyn in one tough cookie and Joshua is no slouch himself. Grace and Ethan make appearances in this story but the story was definitely all about Evelyn and Joshua.

This could have almost been as much of a tear jerker as the previous book but Evelyn and Joshua didn't seem to want to focus on the sad but on the mad. I love complicated characters that know themselves and are honest. And this book was filled with the most complicated character ever, but she was definitely in her rights to be that way. I liked Evelyn, I loved Joshua. I adored the ending and the resolutions and the closure.

I loved the second book in this series, 'Chasing Josua'! The story line, sex, and suspense right up to the very end, had me on the edge of my seat! Evelyn & Joshua are great together!
