I’m Caith Morningstar: bar owner, leather wearer, shoe worshipper, werewolf, Orlando’s resident ass kicker and… Satan’s niece.

Orlando—land of that famous mouse—is on day three hundred sixty-two of my demon ban and life is… boring. Until a demon finds a way around my magical blockade with a new demonic drug. Now humans are getting high and disappearing while tweeners—magical beings that live in the land between On High and Hell—are grinding on my last, violent nerve. When my son is infected with the evil taint, I realize this demon has forgotten my rules: order, secrecy, discretion, and don’t screw with me or my stuff.

Bryony is mine. Orlando is mine. This dem’s head? It’s gonna be mine, too.

But, as much as I want to deal with this alone, I can’t. I have to face Samkiel—my fallen angel mate I lost to evil. On High has given him back some of his angelic mojo and I need his purifying hand to cleanse human souls, his help tracking down the local dealer, and him at my side when we locate the dem determined to get his claws into the mouse’s house.

I lost Sam once and survived. The question now is whether I can survive losing both of the men I love most? Or rather, will the world survive?

Caith Morningstar is back! Love her or hate her you just can't ignore her and that's a fact. Loud, more than a little violent and yet mess with those she cares about and be prepared for trouble. So what will Caith do when her 'adopted' son is targeted by black magic? In fact it's not just Bry in danger but the souls of other Orlando residents are also under attack. Time to speak to good old uncle Luc aka Satan but that's a lot harder than it sounds. Then of course as if Caith didn't have enough to worry about Sam, the fallen angel Caith loves is back in town!
I loved the way this story picks up after events that happened in the first book with Sam giving up his 'grace' to save little Bry. Poor Caith wants him back so bad but there's the tiny matter of his soul and of course redemption at stake. If you enjoyed the topsy turvy family she has ( seven biological fathers!) then there's a little less of that in this book I'm afraid but we do get to explore the somewhat twisted relationship Caith shares with her mother. I'm sure fans of Caith and her snark will be clamouring for more Sam time but my lips are sealed!
I thought this was a very good addition to the series and allowed the reader to really see what makes Caith tick. It's always fun reading about her antics and opinions but it's the quiet times that make her feel human or as near to it as possible I guess. Hells Chapel left me a little sad for the characters but this story had more depth with Caith realising that with some finagling and a lot of negotiation anything is possible. Plus the end will leave you speechless . She's big , she's bad and she's always a riot so roll on the next Caith Morningstar book
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review

"I have always marveled that so many religions exact such revenge against dissenters. It only weakens the appeal of their faith and contradicts any claims they might have made that 'all religions are basically the same.'" - Ravi Zacharias

Caith Morningstar was there when the first brick of the Mouse’s house was laid. Order. Secrecy. That is all she asked. Orlando is her city. Her place of peace, where demons (dems), angels (gels) and tweens (‘other’) come to rest, relax, and visit her bar, Hell’s Chapel. Well, when you are the niece of “The” Morningstar, have an unending life and a very, well, let’s say ‘eclectic’ family, you deserve a little peace. - Review, So, I Read This Book Today, Hell's Chapel by Lauren Creed (Celia Kyle)

Caith Morningstar may desperately want peace in her city, and most particularly in her life - but as the Pussycat Dolls say,

"Be careful what you wish for
'Cause you just might get it
You just might get it
You just might get it”

Caith wished to be with her mate, Samkiel. So not happening. Half-fallen Angel of Destruction, On High had him in time-out on Earth for forgiving someone he wasn't supposed to forgive. But when Sam saved Caith and newborn baby brownie Bryony, the last living member of Caith's band of brownie friends, from a mad wizard with a true hard-on against Caith, he was cast down - as in, way way down, to the 9th circle of Hell. Well. That sucks.

After the violence, terror and death of Hell's Chapel, Caith is incredibly pissed. Solution? Kick every stinkin' demon out of Orlando. Hum... how's that workin' out for you Caith?

Apparently? Not all that well.

It has been a year, and Caith is bored out of her mind not having demon fanny to kick around in her bar, Hell's Chapel. But she has baby Bryony to raise, she has her friends and her five fathers (don't ask, just read ;-)) and life is moving along. Until baby Bryony gets sick. Now, there really Will be Hell to Pay.

Hell's Gates picks up Caith's story and runs with it, feet blazing. While you may know Celia Kyle better as a Paranormal Romance writer of such series as Ridgeville and Grayslake, and more recently her Alien-Shifter-SciFi series, The Ujal and Dragons of Preor, the Caith Morningstar series is quickly becoming my favorite overall. Caith is a 600-year-old, kick-ass half-demon with attitude to spare, a disturbing habit of killing first and asking questions never . . . and a heart as big and kind as five amazing fathers can make her. Well, even though her mother is the sister of "The" Morningstar, and "quite possibly the worst mother ever..." Caith knows one thing that all the demons in the world will never understand. Love. And when you mess with those Caith loves? Be prepared, cause she is gonna kill you. And bring you back to kill you again. And again. And Again. And when Caith decides you are going to hurt, you are going to hhuuuurrrrtttttt.

You GO Girl!

You will enjoy Hell's Gates much more if you pick up Hell's Chapel and read it first. Both are marvelous, but you can't really understand what Caith has been through, what she has suffered, and why, unless you pick up from the first. Besides. These books are marvelous!!!

And you have no reason not to - Celia's work is on Kindle Unlimited, where you can

A decent addition to a interesting series. Can't say it was as exciting as the first one though there was some interesting additions to the story.

Whilst I am all for a tough, ballsy female character I found Caith to be getting old and repetitive by the end of the story. With multiple mentions of Chicago, multiple mentions of how angry she was, how she's "a bitch from hell" or something to that effect and how she is heartless, etc etc I started to get a bit bored when nothing happened. Sure there was plenty of action which was nice, but it was all the complaining in between that was a downer. The first book effectively created a character who was tough, bitchy and took no prisoners. This book all she seems to do is take prisoners, when almost everything she states herself to be is the complete opposite of that. She's all bark and no bite.

Am still excited to see the future of this series, but who knows what's to come.

Caith now has to deal with drugged up people, tweens, and demons. When her baby is also drugged that's when Caith finally realizes what has been happening. I didn't like reading about killing hellhounds and the sick baby and also Sam being evil. What I did like was how Caith, Sam, and the rest of the crew never gave up.

Caith and her gang are back in this second book and they have their work cut out for them. Sam returns and is offered a way to halfway redeem himself. Poor little Bry gets sick and the fight is on for Caith, Jeze, Sam and Caith's fathers. Great book!!

Been nearly 9 years since I read the 1st book of the series; I'd bought the 2nd one back then too, but it somehow got lost in all the bright & shiny. This one happens about 12 months after the first book.

Caith was still the same, but probably more .... angry, sad, brokenhearted & really bored.

Strange things are happening in Orlando, Caith had claimed the town, her Uncle is Lucifer, she has 5 dads, and was conceived in a petrie dish.

Turns out Caith had cast out all the demons from Orlando, and now there is a drug, affecting both humans & the other folk (like trolls, goblins, fauns etc). Many people are affected, some are really sick, some are violent and Caith must investigate. Sam, the fallen angel is there to help.

Lots of fighting, the big bad, angry mom, zombies, innocent but drugged humans, including kids .....

Satan's niece and serial arse kicker is FANTASTIC.

Caith has kicked all demon's out of Orlando, but when people are starting to use a drug then disappearing she gets pissy, then she gets batshit when Bry, her adopted brownie, becomes ill too.

She hunts the big bad down and gets the shock of her life with why it's all going down.

Plus Uncle Satan drops a big one on her too!

Extremely entertaining series.

I don't know what it is about this story line but after finishing this book I have no motivation to read the third novel. Usually, I can finish a book like this in 1 or 2 days. This one took me close to a week and a half because I was just unmotivated to read it- and (if I am being honest) quite bored.

I loved this book!! It was a phenomenal read. Caith is back and has another problem. Someone is coming after her family and her town and she has to figure it out. Bry, her adopted son, is sick with a demon caused sickness/poison. They aren't quite sure what it is or how to make it better. As they are trying to figure it out, they find out that other people in her town are sick with the same thing. It causes different reactions in different people but she has to figure out how to stop and keep town and family safe. There is quite a bit of action in this story. Caith doesn't get to kill as many people as she would necessarily like, considering they are under the affects of the drug, but she handles it well and is your typical Caith. This is the second book in the series and while you can read this without having read the first one, I highly recommend reading the first one before this. You will get so much more enjoyment out of it and understand and pick up on the nuances with the relationships going on. It will also help explain Caith a little more as well. I loved getting to see Caith again and her circle. There is a lot of sexual tension throughout this book and very little sex, which is understandable once you get into the story. This is not a romance story but we do get to see Caith and her mate Sam work on some of their problems from the first story. I laughed aloud multiple times throughout the story and really enjoyed it. I loved the way it was written. The story flows really well and had me engaged and wanting to find out what happened next the whole time. I can't wait for the next book to come out!!!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book had a nice mix of action, adventure, paranormal, and romance to keep just about any one of those types of readers quickly turning the pages. I'd recommend starting with book one so you get the full impact that is Caith Morningstar.

We join Caith almost a year after the first book. She's now an adoptive mother, still "single" (or whatever it is you would call someone whose mate is learning how to be fallen), and now a little bored because the demon ban has caused a downswing in people she needs to beat up. It seems like this might be her new everyday life until her son turns up sick. Ordinarily, this would be nothing new - a kid getting sick - but there is definitely something foul afoot when the most powerful witches and healers can't fix him. With her uncle MIA and oodles of others turning up with the same illness, she's forced to face facts - maybe her demon ban might not have been the wisest things. But, hey, she was pissed and had the power to do something drastic.

Aside from trying to find the source of the evil illness, Caith also has to tread carefully as she and Sam try to find their new normal. There is a lot of tough chick goodness, yummy smuttiness, and some good detective work along the way. All in all, I'm hooked on this new series and can't wait to see where it goes next!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Caith Mornigstar, a.k.a Murray is the temp mama to Bryony, mate of fallen angel Samkiel, and Lucifer's niece. It has been a year of enjoying the role of motherhood. A year without her mate, Sam. A year, since she banned all demons from entering Orlando. It's been pretty boring for Caith, basically. The action starts up when some mystery drug starts circulating around town causing the tweens and humans to lose their minds. Worse, it affect baby Bryony of which hurts Caith the most. She looks to Mama R and Jezze to help her little one, while she tracks down who is responsible for this. For some reason, she can't get in touch with Uncle Luke to ask him, even though he sent some lawyer to help Caith. She even goes to her mother for answers. Sam pops up in the story a few times and tries to help Caith. This is another sore spot for Caith, b/c she misses Sam deeply and is still hurt over him leaving. But, she does understand that this is as much of a challenge for Sam, as it is for her. As much as they can, they work together to find a solution. Sam has been granted some healing grace, Jezze and Mama R develop a cure-but none of that is able to help Bryony. Another layer of Caith was revealed in this book. She kicked some butt, cured, got violent, and was a smart-ass. But her vulnerable, soft side did show up on occasion, especially with her love for Bryony.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had to quickly read book 1 so I could read this one because I KNEW this wouldn't make a lick of sense if I read it first. :) Anyways, I am not happy about it ending on cliffhangers. I hate those. Now, I will say this ended a little better than the first book did but its still ongoing and there is a big surprise at the end so err cliffhanger. I'm ecstatic that Sam is back but not in the way we want. He's there but he can't be there all the time until things are fixed. There are still issues but Caith is glad to have him. I can see that things are gonna get interesting...or even more so. I still like the writing style yes, but not crazy about the ongoing series part of it. I like my stories neat and tidy HEA or as close to that as I can get. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed book 2 as well. People will love it. People do love it from the other reviews I've read. Question is...after this will I continue the series? Probably not. Doesnt mean I wont change my mind though which I do often. I'm not saying a whole lot of details because I AM changing the way I do my reviews. I dont wanna spoil peoples fun or perspective by revealing everything. Just know that its a great story and its a good series just not my preference because of the cliffhangers mainly. Happy reading!

Caith is the niece of Lucifer and she has claimed Orlando as hers. She set up a demon ban but is bored of the year with very little violence. Then she gets a call saying her adopted baby son is sick He has never been sick before but is now burning a dangerously high temperature. Also a demon rune has appeared on his arm. Soon news of a drug reaches Caith which makes supernaturals confused and dazed and humans turn into violent zombie like beings. Her son was exposed to the drug through tainted water. Caith has to track down the drug source and hope to save her city. When she tries to contact Lucifer for some information, she can only reach his lawyer. Her mate Sam, a fallen angel, keeps showing up to help her but he has to be careful to not become more damned.
I really love Caith. She is struggling between her demon side and the side that wants to be better. She is a great mom and hates leaving her sick son to find out the truth. However she also doesn't put up with s% and really enjoys destroying other peoples evil.

Great humour with a dark twist. Wonderful read.

Someone is messing with Caith’s town and that is not permissible. Worse than that they are hurting her son and for that heads will roll.

WOW, not sure what to write about this one but I would suggest reading book 1 Hell’s Chapel first so you can understand this book better. There is just so much going on that you need to take a breather to keep up.
Loved meeting Caith and the group again. I was so happy to read about Samkiel, I was really upset at the end of Hell’s chapel.

Now a year has gone by and things are going crazy again, demon laced drugs are flooding Caiths town in all sorts of ways and affecting humans and tweens.

Bry, Caith’s son is infected and there is only one way Caith will deal with someone hurting her son. Painfully. For them of course. But is there more to what is going on than first appears.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

What an intense story. Wow!
It's been a year since her mate the fallen angle left and she has been rasing her adopted son. Just then she thinks her life has gotten boring everything hits the fan.
Her son gets sick, as does a lot of other people. Her uncle MIA, so she can't find out what's going on. Her mate shows up again. If that's not enough a demon wants out of hell and to take over.
Can they find out who it is and stop him? Can she keep her mate this time? And will her little boy get better?
To answer these questions you got to read the book lol. No real cliffhanger but the writer did leave on opening for another book and I soooooo hope there's going to be more. This series is awesome with fantastic characters and amazing action. Your not going to want to miss this one.
Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

Hell's Gates
Caith Morningstar, #2

"Hell's Gates" gets 4.5 stars from me!

Caith Morningstar is the strong main character of this story. Caith is someone that you can always depend on. Her life has hit an all-time low. A lot has happened to her, but she shows strength and perseverance. Sometimes, life kicks you in the teeth or rewards you. The story focuses more on Caith Morningstar than on the romance with Samkiel, her fallen angel mate. Don't worry! You'll still get a little spice if you have patience.

Read and discover what Caith does in order to keep evil out of Orlando and her son safe. Will she deliver her brand of justice to those that deserved punishment? Who will help her?

Cait Morningstar has has a boring year since she banned all the demons from her town of Orlando. That all changes when her adopted baby son is suddenly taken ill. His illness is the first of many all falling victim to a demon produced drug. Cait must find the culprit to save not only her son but the tweeners and humans that live in her town.
Samkiel turns up to help just when he is most needed. He has a serious battle of his own to cope with, but he must help Cait.
Another action packed story, full of fights and emotion. You can't help but get drawn into to the emotional battles that our characters. This is an easy series to get addicted to. You must read them in order or you will not understand the family dynamics.
I loved it.

If you have not had a chance to read this series you are missing a treat. It has such entertaining characters especially Cath Morningstar who incidentally is Satan's niece with some really handy powers. You also get a chance to meet more interesting magical characters who reside in the tween a place between On High and Hell. Cath has a mate and he is a fallen angel called Samkiel, but their relationship is not going to well at all. Cath son Bryony has become infected with a demonic drug and Cath is about to go on the warpath to try to protect both of them. Thank you to Lauren Creed aka Celia Kyle for the amazing review copy. Totally enjoying this new series. Highly Recommend this author and her books.

I recieved an ARC copy for a honest review.

This is the second installment for vaith Morningstar series and a book I was looking forward to. Caith is a kicka** hero for todays woman. She is wverything I want to be when I grow up.

The story is well written and pulls you right in from word one and keeps you addicted and wanting more when the book ends.

Caith is hit with an unknown drug running wild in her town of Orlando. She kicks butt trying to find where it is coming from. We follow her while she works through finding the guilty party. I highly recomment reading this book as well as book 1 in the series.

Love

This and Hell's Chapel are my favorite books of the year! I love the world the author as woven and I can't wait for more of Caith, Sam, Bry, Jezze, Momma R, and the papa's. I loved seeing a different side of Caith this time around. She was vulnerable, scared, and still someone you don't want to mess with. Hell's Chapel left me in tears, Hell's Gates left me smiling and laughing at the last tidbit. I'm really excited to see where this goes next and I'm already chomping at the bit for the next book. I don't think I'll ever get enough of Caith!

I adore Caith. She has that awesome kick ass attitude that takes no prisoners. She also has the fierce protectiveness toward all that she insiders her family. She will do anything for family and heaven help you if you try to hurt them. So someone is about to get their ass kicked. They have targeted her son and are messing with her city. This will never work for her. Then when her mate shows up to help her she hopes that she will be able to survive that too. I loved that little things popped up that I never expected. Great story and I am so excited for the next one.

I loved book 2!
Book 2 was as good as Book 1
We start w/ Caith being bored out of her mind.
Now that the Demons are banned from Florida, she is so bored.
Then Byron gets sick + it is caused by black magic.
Caith does not what to do.
She gets help from the fathers + Sam.
It broke my heart when Sam went to the dark side + became a demon
In this book, Sam has a shot at redemption
He started the book w/ Black wings + ended the book w/ Gray wings.
I am so glad that Caith + Sam can be together
I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
We were sort left w/ a cliffhanger.

A little hell fire

Ties boo made the first seem child's play. Started out with a Princess of Hell being bored at work and crusaded into pure panic and chaos with her son becoming ill ! Hat does that man for the story line? A whole lot of detective work, butt kicking homicidal fighting. With On High Angle coming in four a visit and recovery field trips. What does a Princes of Hell and an Angel of On high have in common? Must read to find out. Very good book!!!

I received Hell's Gates as a review copy from the author/publisher (via InstaFreebie). The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. While I enjoyed book one, Hell's Chapel, a lot, this second installment of the Caith Morningstar series was a tad long-winded (I found myself skipping some paragraphs where the character seemed to ramble). The story was good, but didn't have the intensity and pace I'd enjoyed in the prior story.

This is the second installment in the Caith Morningstar series. The story was okay but it was not the Celia Kyle work that I know and love. The story was drawn out and the plot was not really developed. At the end, the story picked up and I felt relieved that it was finally moving. I hope the third book in the series is better!
