I started watching Estee's videos on youtube a few years ago, and I was keen to give her book a go. But I must admit, I'm very disappointed by this offering. Firstly, there are a LOT of spelling mistakes/typos which is a surprise. Who the hell edited this?! It's very unprofessional.

Secondly, the overall style and quality of the writing is very poor. I know Estee isn't really an intellectual, but this book is very simplistic. It seems to me that Estee's writing style is very much influenced by short, zeitgeisty Tumblr quotes and she tends to waffle a bit. She also fails to go into much depth about anything. Her book is more of a list of 'cool' subjects she thinks people want to know about. She also skims over the surface of some pretty big issues here. She briefly mentions her difficult relationship with her father, depression and anxiety but never really explores these topics fully. She could also have gone into more detail about her views on feminism and gender equality. I know she's a role model for a lot of young girls so it's a shame she didn't use this opportunity to voice these ideas.

I think Estee wants to be taken seriously as a more of a 'lifestyle guru' than her previous online incarnation 'Essiebutton', but unfortunately she lacks the depth, knowledge or maturity to really be regarded in this way. I must admit, I also find it highly irritating that someone aged 25 feels they have the right to publish a book giving others life advice, even if it is just about fashion and makeup. She isn't a pro makeup artist or stylist, she has no real work experience outside of her youtube bubble and has had very little in the way of actual life experience. I found her advice a little cringe-worthy as well. And, let's be real here, Estee is the epitome of white privilege. She lives in a million pound townhouse in London with her mega rich boyfriend. It's hard not to take her advice as a little condescending. Most of her ideas come across as very cliched and unoriginal and the way she attempts to tackle huge, philosophical subjects like the concept of happiness with a brief anecdote about her grandparents is just embarrassing.

I do like Estee and her youtube videos are very enjoyable, she just isn't a writer. Unfortunately, it seems like anyone can get a book published these days regardless of their talent if it looks like they have enough 'followers' or 'likes' to cash in on.

Just because I've watched some (not many) of her videos and enjoyed them - it does not obligate me to 'coo' and 'squee' at all her undertakings. This being one of them.

Insanely indulgent, self-absorbed twaddle amidst a sea of embarrassingly careless grammatical and spelling errors.
No doubt edited by a "blogger" also.

It's as shallow as a kiddie pool - and much like said kiddie pool, has only 1 or 2 informative nuggets floating within it.

Senseless pontification from a 2o-something!? Is this what sells now? God have mercy on us all.

First and foremost, I absolutely adore Estee. I've watched her videos for a few years and she is definitely one of my favorite Youtubers. She has a great personality, is super relatable, and even though I am not part of her core audience of 20-something millenials, I love watching her give lifestyle and self care advice. She is delightful.

That being said, she is not a writer and this book was really disappointing. I liked the IDEA of covering all the key parts of her life - food, travel, fashion, etc - but the whole thing was so shallow and lacked any depth at all. For example, she would breeze over a huge struggle she faced in her teens but never actually describe her experience and how she overcame her issue. Everything was: love yourself! Have balance! Take risks! Be healthy! It was like reading a series of blog posts and offered no real insight into her life experiences. Also, it was impossible to ignore all of the massive TYPOS and left me wondering if anyone really edited the content (not just the colors and photos)?! Above all, I just think she is too young to write a book that is supposed to offer life advice. She's still a kid!! She is super charming but she just doesn't know what she's talking about quite yet - no offense, but what 25 year old has it all figured out?!

The physical book is beautiful though - heavyweight, beautiful cover and color scheme, and gorgeous photography. If nothing else I'm glad to put it on my book shelf and peruse it on a rainy day.

The problem is most likely that I am a writing major, and this was not intended to be a well-written, breakthrough nonfiction piece. There were so many moments that had the potential to become meaningful and beautiful, but Estée never went beyond the surface of her topics. She left me feeling as if she didn't trust me with the whole truth, the whole picture. But perhaps that's because she didn't write this for me- she wrote it for herself, as a capsule of where she is now and how she believes she got here. Still I feel as if she had two more drafts she could have created a far more moving, far more impactful book. Her videos have inspired me more, and because of that I believe she is a better speaker than writer.

I have been a longtime viewer of Estée Lalonde's YouTube channel, (shout-out to all the OG's who remember essie_button ;D) so as soon as she started talking about her book, I knew I would be pre-ordering that baby. I remember binge-watching all of her main channel videos once I'd found her, and then being so elated to find that she -- GASP -- had a vlog channel as well! While I think she is extremely talented and always delivers with such amazing content on her main channel, I have come to love her vlogs even more. Opening Bloom was like getting a glimpse even further into her life than her vlogs allow.

Now I've always understood that YouTubers need privacy. They already share so much of their personal lives with the world -- surely they must need to keep something for themselves! A lot of people aren't able to make that connection, but perhaps having a YouTube channel myself, (albeit on a much, much lower scale) I get it. Having said that, I still had curiosities about the things that Estée never talked about in her videos. With Bloom, Estée has offered such a treat to her viewers. She shares about her past, her insecurities, her fears, her struggles, her hopes, dreams and goals. Reading her thoughts really made me feel like I was having a conversation with her; that's how honest she was with every subject.

Reading from Estée's perspective has given me an even higher respect for her. Being the same age, I teared up when I read about her past with catty teenage girls, her struggle with self-image, food and her weight. I literally kept thinking: "WHY DID WE HAVE TO LIVE THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY FROM EACH OTHER?!! WE COULD HAVE BEEN BESTIES!" Nonetheless, Estée has come an incredibly long way from her insecure teenage years, and I couldn't be more proud of her. She inspires me to take a look at my life and really focus on the positive rather than the negative.

This was the perfect book to finish at the start of a New Year. Estée has an incredible voice that her viewers have been privileged enough to hear over the years through her YouTube channel. I'm so glad that Bloom has given her the opportunity to share her amazing, original voice with countless others!

Kay. I was flipping through some reviews of this book and it got a weeeee bit harsh. Yes, there were a number of spelling mistakes, yes, I felt like Canada was misrepresented every time it was mentioned, and yes, it was one of the more self-indulgent works I've read. However. The joy that receiving this book brought me and the amount that it pulled my bedside table colour scheme together (for months before I ever actually started reading it) really made me not care about the other stuff. I loved pulling this book out of my bag to read on the train, in a dirty mall caféteria, and sipping coffee on my days off. It was super fun to read and I always felt kind of fabulous pulling it out.

I also think that reading Bloom made me genuinely happy in a lot of ways. I read it and it made me think about watching my first essiebutton video in my beautiful cousin's beautiful apartment in beautiful Edinburgh, as my beautiful sister and I slept on a slowly deflating air mattress. I read it and it made me think of waiting each week to watch Estée videos until bath night so I could escape some sad times and feel less lonely. I read it and it made me think of receiving this book on my birthday, finally surrounded by family. Perhaps Bloom was not the most structurely sound thing on the planet. But neither am I; and neither are you probably haha

So maybe it was more what Bloom represented that made me happy than the actual themes of the book itself. I don't super care either way. Cuz it gave me a feel and I was down with it. So, 3 stars! One for each year I've been watching Youtube! Maybe. I don't even know; it feels like longer and shorter. Whatever. This book rocked.

Absolutely adored this. Estèe is such an inspiring woman and I loved reading about her past, her struggles and her everyday battles. All in all Bloom felt like one of her videos - but much more honest. Furthermore, the design was top notch! Everything felt genuinely authentic and real. Thumbs up!!

Had to give it 4 stars because there were quite some typos and spelling mistakes and while I'm certainly guilty of doing that too, I find it rather annoying in a real published book.

I feel really bad giving this a 2 star because I really do adore and admire Estee. This book is too surface level and broad. I wanted her to dive deeper into the topics she brought up. It felt like she was trying to cover too much and also give advice the whole time. In addition to this it just felt poorly edited. I hate being negative but I just wanted more from this.

I went through a phase several years ago of following a bunch of YouTubers talk about makeup. Estée is the only one I follow anymore - her life fascinates me, and I've enjoyed watching her grow up over the years. She's charming and funny, and I find her boyfriend Aslan and greyhound Reggie to be delightful.

This book is fine - fun, fluffy, beautifully photographed, riddled with clichés and typos. She's not a good writer but she's genuine and sincere, and that's ok with me. The best Estée comes through in her videos, not in her writing. I realize that, at almost 36 years old, I'm not the intended audience of this book. I did appreciate her writing honestly about coping with anxiety and depression (hope you're going to therapy, love) and body image issues - really wish she'd explored those topics more. But I continue to struggle with her complete lack of acknowledgment of her privilege. It's hard to ignore that when wading through photos and essays about her amazing London home, expensive clothes, travels all over Europe, organic beauty products, etc.

While this book is gorgeously styled and presented, the content lacked depth and I'm not sure I discovered much more about Estee than I have on her YouTube channel. As the author, with such an expansive page extent, I expected more when it came to each topic in Estee's life. She doesn't really expand on any of the topics but whisks over them with cliches and general statements.

I adore Estee's videos and her YouTube channel, however I think this book needed more attention to detail and a good edit. There was quite a few mistakes/typos and it was jarring as a reader.

All in all, didn't hate it - but didn't love it.

I have been watching Estee's videos since my last year in college (so over three years now) and have been a huge fan so I was definitely excited when she announced that she was coming out with a book. I really loved reading about her past, especially her move from Canada to London and how she always felt like a loner when she was a kid (something that I could relate to very much). If you haven't watch her videos I definitely recommend to give them a go and her book really gives a great insight of how she is as a person.

I've been following Essie for years. She is my absolute favorite person I've never met!

This book is a well-written easy read, and surprisingly personal . Laughed, cried, laughed some more, but mostly cried. She is relatable, funny, gorgeous and all around girl goals! Keep making amazing content, Estee! Love you to bits! {Aslan and Reggie too!}

{PS: I think #Vlogula is adorbs! =) }

I was a little skeptical when Estèe announced that she was writing a book. I am glad I picked it up anyway. I adored this book. I've watched Estèe for a long time and being able to read more intimate details of her life was exciting. It was clear that she tried to be as honest as she felt could be about certain topics. I am forever jealous of her and Aslan's interior decorating skills.

"If everyone travelled there would be much less hate in this world because it's difficult to hate something you understand."

Am I a huge fan of Estée? I wouldn't say I am for I have only watched one of her videos before I got this book. So why did I pick up this book? First, it was because of its color scheme and texture. Second, the simple yet aesthetic layout caught my eyes. Last but definitely not least, the phrase "navigating life and style" gave me hope that I may gain something that I needed from it.

After being shipped from the UK and sitting on my shelf for about a month, I decided to read it two nights ago and finished it in one go. It turns out that it has everything I need.

In Bloom, you will be able to find personal lessons and tips concerning life, inter-personal relationships, work, beauty, fashion, home, travel and food. Through Estée's earnest words, I relive her greatest nightmares and fears. After this 249-page journey, Estée and I both come out stronger, wiser and kinder.

The best thing about this book is that Estée is very down-to-earth. The stories she shared are highly relatable. My favorite parts are when she talks about her depression, anxiety and body-image issues. It's nice to see a person openly discusses these problems because we shouldn't be embarrassed  about them, and reading about them does lighten the burden. It feels amazing when I know I'm not the only one who suffers from them, and Estée's personal experiences are truly encouraging. I'm not even exaggerating when I say Bloom is my silver lining.

If you are a teen or a young adult who is confused about your life, you may want to pick up a copy of Bloom as well.

From time to time, throughout the years, I have followed Estee Lalonde vlogging channel on you tube. When Estee announced she was bringing out a book, I took an immediate interest.

Estee shows in her book, Bloom, some beautiful authentic photographs of herself, family, friends, beauty products and food.

Like any memoir, Estee tells her life going through where she lived, experiences at school, sports, fashion, how she meet her long term partner, Aslan, and even includes favourite recipes.

I found Bloom, a very light, factual book, which for me, was a great book to pick up and
put down.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes self help books, that likes positive affirmations, that like healthy recipes and who likes light hearted memoirs (nothing too serious) .

Finished this book in 2 days, loved it. Very down to earth and relatable, very Estee. It was interesting to hear more about her life before and away from youtube and the usual platforms that we see her life in, this felt a lot more real. I really enjoyed reading it and the photography and design formatting of the book was so clean and fresh, very nice.

This book was so much more than a youtuber book... I've always loved Esteé and her personality comes wholly through this lovely aesthetically pleasing book. It's like she's talking to us as a friend about how to feel fab and get through life but by no means is this a how to book with tips and tricks... it's so much more than that, so if you need a boost in confidence then pick this up!

I read this purely for nostalgic reasons and do consider it one of the better(ish) books to come out of the second half of the 2010s when what felt like every influencer wrote a book. That being said, you will most definitely only enjoy this if you are or were interested in (past) Estée and her personal musings, it didn’t supply much generally useful new information to me and unfortunately contains lotsss of trivial spelling and punctuation errors

I went into this book thinking it would be a book about Estée, not a lifestyle guide. I think that’s what made me enjoy it so much, looking at the other reviews around here. It’s not perfect, and I don’t think it’s meant to be. It’s Estée telling the story of how her current (life)style was shaped.

It’s not about fashion tips, it’s about personal growth. And yes, it is focused on her rather than the reader. But I really didn’t view that as a bad thing. As someone who enjoys her content, and knowing her audience, I feel like this book gives viewers a nice insight on what made her become the way she is, and a lot of relatable stories and experiences for people to connect with.

It feels like it’s meant for the same audience as her content, but more specifically the viewers who want to connect with her on a personal level instead of only the material aspect of content. And I really liked that.

Picked this book up as I have followed the authors blog and youtube channel for several years. I really enjoyed the first half of the book where it was more personal & in-depth, but it gradually transitioned into a how-to/wish-washy/magazine/blog-esque ramble about food, fashion and travel. Some of the content was repeated throughout the various sections, but it was never acknowledged it was already mentioned. This is definitely much better than the other internet-star attempts at books that I've seen.... but I feel like it had the potential to be so much more!

repetitive & somewhat unoriginal advice & lessons at times, but overall Estée's words and stories did make me think more about my life and my 'bloom' journey-- making her successful in her goals in writing this book. I enjoyed the insight into her life and found it to be a worthwhile read if you're a fan of Estée's.

(Also-- it was lovely meeting you at Selfridges back in October, Estée!! I'm a longtime subscriber & am so proud of all you've accomplished!)

Light read for when you don't really want to read anything serious. She is not a writer so don't have any high school expectations. Giving it three stars because i could strongly relate with the parts where she is talking about the struggles of moving into a different country and the anxiety that comes with it. Lovely photos throughout the book

One of my favorites parts was the story of her and Aslan, and how they met. Overall this memoir has a nice balance of personal details and advice, more personal than the latter and the advice sounds more like suggestions and are not blatantly stated with a "you should...". I only wish the afterward was a bit longer. The photographs are beautiful too.
