【2024BOOK03】"General History of China" by Lü Simian. I DON'T LIKE IT! I was looking for an introductory-level book to rebuild my knowledge of the general history of China, and this book is clearly unsuitable for my purpose. Its half-classical-ancient, half-modern Chinese makes it very painful to read. Many arguments feel simply labeled instead of being based on careful analysis. Most importantly, this book was written during the period of the Anti-Japanese War when Shanghai became an "isolated island," which caused a strong nationalist bias. This book has a high rating on reading websites, perhaps favored by those with a strong foundation in the history of China, but it's definitely not a book for me. 😂

【2024年的第3本书】吕思勉的《中国通史》。不喜欢，非常不喜欢。我本来是想找一本入门级的中国通史，重新构建一下自己的中国历史知识体系，这本书显然于此目的不合适。半文半白的语言读起来非常痛苦。很多立论很难看出是经过考据还是简单的贴标签。最重要的是此书成于抗日战争时期上海成为“孤岛”的时候，民族主义色彩极强。这本书豆瓣评分挺高的，可能国学底子好的人喜欢吧，反正不适合我。草草看完。感觉可以和中译本《论法的精神》中译本卢梭《西方哲学史》并称近年三大最让我难受的书。

Haven't really finished , maybe never will. The "author" has the habit of writing a few of his own sentences, then illustrating them with long, long direct quotations from one ancient text or the other to fill space . Very little is his original writing.

这本书其实是吕思勉先生所著的《白话本国史》，并不是吕先生的另一部著作《吕著中国通史》。很奇怪出版社为什么非要换一个书名来出版。

放弃。民国的文字太枯燥了，看不下去。
