Well this was a hard read. But in deliberately trying to read books pro and con about presidents this fit the bill for con. Quite biased (as expected) and while it did bring to mind some issues I was unaware of. It was mostly a hit piece and the few items I spot checked for voracity failed horrible. But then it occurred to me to read the book as a blueprint for one way to measure a president. So I compared 8 years of Obama (as depicted in this book), to how Trump has done after one year. Trump did not fair well. This book makes many claims as to this or that test being a good way to tell if someone is a good president and Obama failed (according to the book). Judging Trump by the same scale... guess what he fails too, sometimes spectacularly worse. I can't claim the couple 100 claims are a good judge of a president, they may be more an indictment of the current political scene here in america (partisanship, brinkmanship etc).

This book is not for those who value history.

This book was poorly researched. It read like a neverending blog, which used other blogs as "sources" . No seriously, the authors quoted right wing blogs as sources. I laughed outloud when I read their "proof" of Obama's narcissism. A few examples: He tweeted pictures of himself taken at historical sites, during historical events. He sent his kids to private school. He gave the Queen an IPOD . So much of this book was obviously gaslighting and brainwashing the people who are desperate to make President Obama the scapegoat for the ills of their world. No argument was made, just parroting of the same old junk.
Mu home is host to books about Presidents such as Carter, Reagon,George W. Bush, Clinton and Nixon. This book could not be used as a book end for those valuable and critically books written by true researchers and lovers of history who care about historical FACTS ( note: facts remain the same no matter the politics of the writer).

To the critical thinkers who value TRUTh, this blog/book is not for you.
For those who hate President Obama over truth, by all mean enjoy.
To the authors: DO and BE BETTER.

I received a free copy of this book for review.

I thought, based on the title, that this would just be one extended rant. It's not. It's actually a collection of factual and objective arguments.

I was impressed by just how much material this book covered. Divided into areas like Domestic Issues, the Economy, Civil Liberties, Foreign Policy, etc., it lists every decision and action that Obama has made and it's impact. Remember Clash for Clunkers? It's in there. The Gibson Guitar Raid? It's there too. And there are a lot of footnotes sourcing everything (more than a thousand).

As someone with a fondness for history, I really like how this book documents the Obama era.

The best political book I have read this year. It's also a great reference for anyone who wants a rundown of everything that has transpired during this era of "Hope and Change" that is (soon to be "was") the Obama Regime. This book is important because the media deliberately ignored most of the events that reflected negatively upon Obama, choosing to disappear those down the memory hole. If you read Margolis & Noonan's book alongside other recent political books written by the Left, the latter read like alternate histories from a parallel universe. Margolis & Noonan have the facts on their side, in a quick read that connects the dots from 2009 to the present and argues that Barack Obama is (soon to be "was" once he leaves office in 2017) the worst president in history. If you notice, the media is working overtime on securing a legacy for Obama...and of course we all know that for the rest of our lives the media will try to aggrandize Obama and make him into something special out of value-signaling. What students of history will be confronted with is the uncomfortable fact that the media has an emotional investment in claiming that Obama was great because he was biracial and his skin color is what is most important to them. Margolis & Noonan present the facts of his presidency and detail all of the corruption, mistakes, arrogance, naiveté, deceit, hubris, machinations, and Alinsky dirty tricks that define this man and his failed regime. The propagandists of the Left will hate this. Academics will despise (and probably try to censor) these inconvenient truths. But no honest and complete portrait of Obama can ever be drawn without the material that Margolis & Noonan artfully present. The text is an easy and quick read and is written in an accessible and conversational style that I found refreshing when compared to other political works. I read the eBook version on my Kindle Fire in early July 2016; I finished the book in two days and recommend it to friends and colleagues. I plan on using it as a research source in my own writing going forward, since it is such an excellent compilation of events in an easy-to-thumb-through format with extensive sourcing of primary and secondary reference materials. I could not recommend it more highly.

It seems obvious that the book was not a favorable review of Obama’s presidency. It doesn’t need the cheap editorial commentary that seemed to accompany every point.

I’m not an Obama fan. I think he is crooked, and perhaps the most divisive president in our history. I would hazard a guess that nearly all readers are similarly inclined. I don’t believe that the cheap shots help build the case. They only make it harder to read.

Obama, Truly the Worst President

At the beginning of the obama administration, I hoped that he would put into being the promises he made. As time went on I became more & more disappointed with his seemingly "it's about me & my buddies", not America. The Authors by means of their excellent research & method of presentation remind me of why I began to believe obama was actually attempting to weaken & destroy our Great Nation that so many have given so much to build. I began to feel ashamed of how obama treated "average" Americans & our allies world-wide. obama didn't bring us together, he has divided us internally & world-wide. America will heal and again strengthen despite obama. God Bless America!

For everyone wringing their hands about a narcissistic, egomaniacal, dishonest American President in collusion with our countries enemies; this book is a must read for exposing the true "Manchurian Candidate" and his political party that (thankfully) just left office. The current hysteria on our national political scene can easily be recognized as yet further attempts to obfuscate the true legacy of the past 8 years. Hopefully we will not consent to swallowing lies no matter how often and how loudly they are thrown at us by MSM. Hopefully it is not too late to literally save our Nation and the principles that truly made it great.

Good summaries for the reasons why Obama was such a disaster

There is a lot of information here that, for whatever reason, I had failed to glean from various media sources. Most interesting is that he cut funding for the Tomohawk and other naval missile research and development quite substantially at a time when the Russians and Indians had made significant advances in this area. I don't know if Obama was the worst president in history, but he was definitely in the top three, Woodrow Wilson and LBJ being the other two, in my opinion.

Great book providing gentle--and sometimes not so gentle--reminders of some of the lowlights of his presidency. However, to say that he is the worst, comparisons are needed. This requires a working knowledge of American history. Other than occasional comparisons to George W Bush, this book made no such analysis. How did his performance compare to James Buchanan's, or Milliard Fillmore, or others? We don't know because the authors failed to do so. Overall, though, a pretty good read

While former president Barack Hussein Obama and his acolytes continue to claim his administration was the most scandal free in history, thinking if they say it often enough people will believe it, more and more evidence keeps surfacing that shows that to be a blatantly false claim. People that are not blind followers can usually name a half dozen or more of the biggest failures and blunders without having to even breath. But you can give your brain a rest because in The Worst President in History: The Legacy of Barack Obama by Matt Margolis the author has done the research for you and cataloged them here. Whether its the Fast and Furious gun running debacle, the IRS partisan handling of conservative requests for tax exempt status, the Iran Nuclear Deal, the Solyndra money grab by his supporters, the Cash for Clunkers failure, the Clinton deal with Russia giving them control of twenty percent of America's uranium in exchange for huge donations to the Clinton Foundation, and I could go on. But, again, I don't have to and neither do you as the author has collected them all in this book along with the facts that back up his assertions that are all very well documented. When Obama was elected, people expected that racial divisions would now be a thing of the past. But that turned out to be totally wrong as race relations are much worse after his term in office than before. Keep your health care plan and keep your doctor if you're happy with them turned out to be one giant bait and switch as people were generally not able to do either and saw their premiums double in many cases while government took over a huge segment of the US economy. I'm getting tired of using the expression "it's like watching how sausage is made" but it certainly applies to the Obama administration. You will want to read this again and again! I would venture a guess that a lot of the one star reviewers (acolytes?) have not even read the book.

Would you read The Worst President in History again? Why?
Yes and likely will. There's so many Obama embarrassments and failures, a re-read is almost necessary.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I practically got whiplash from all of the head shaking throughout the entire book. Some of the most headshaking moments: Obama insulting England who has shed blood for our country, threatening Russia then being embarrassed when Russia called his bluff, and the apology tour.

Any additional comments?
While it is easy to blame Hillary for President Trump, the truth is eight years of being an Obamanation is why Trump was elected. This book explains the debacle that was Obama's regime which caused the U.S.to become sick of politicians.

Detailed and categorized

I was astounded by some of the events that occurred during this presidency. I was aware of the main stream points, but the book really laid it all down for me. I am truly disappointed in this President working more or less against our country, rather than in its best interest. For those who did not follow politics closely during this time frame, this book is well organized and detailed and not the dry read one would assume.

Well organized and we'll documented. Obama will also go down as a bigger liar than Richard Nixon. His administration was so corrupt. Kerry and Obama are the largest sponsors of terrorism in the word. Both of his attorney general's are such bigots. The word justice should NOT be in the name of the department.

Domestic Issues

2. Domestic Policy Flip-Flop (5)
In 2006, then-Senator Obama called a proposal to raise the debt ceiling a “leadership failure” but, as President, Obama has requested multiple increases in the debt ceiling and unilateral power to raise it at his whim.
In 2008, Obama campaigned on cutting the deficit in half; through his first term, Obama raised the annual deficit to a trillion dollars or more per year.
Obama say he would not employ lobbyists in the white house, but has, instead, giving many waivers to allow lobbyists to work there.

3. No Wall Street or Banker Prosecutions
When he took office in 2009, he undoubtedly had a mandate to prosecute Wall Street Bankers responsible for the systemic fraud that contributed to the crisis. But there have been no arrests or prosecutions of any banker involved in the fiscal collapse. The criminal fraud was undeniable; yet, in 2012, Barack Obama defended the lack of prosecutions because “a lot of that stuff wasn’t necessarily illegal, it was just immoral or inappropriate or reckless.”

4. Betraying the Victims of Hurricane Sandy
Staten Island victims were left behind after FEMA packed up and eft the area— a week after Obama promised to help the affected areas, vowing “No bureaucracy. No red tape.” (8)

8. Skyrocketing College Costs
Under President Obama, the average cost of college tuition has increased by 8% across all types of Institutions, be they private, public, 2-year or 4-year schools. Despite campaigning on increasing access to Pell Grants, Obama actually cut Pell Grants, which increased average college costs by an average of nearly $1,000 per year per student. These increases in college costs were more than double the rate of inflation, and, combined with the decline of family incomes, significantly increase the burden of obtaining a higher education on Obama's watch (12)

13. Releasing Criminal Illegal Aliens
Over 36,000 convicted criminal aliens awaiting deportation proceedings were released in 2013 By U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to a report by the center for immigration studies, many of the criminals released had been convicted of serious crimes, including a 193 homicides, 426 sexual assaults, 303 kidnappings, 1,075 aggravated assaults, and 15,635 DUIs. Other convicts released had been found guilty of robbery, arson, assault, sex offenses, larceny, and burglary. In addition to the 36,000 waiting deportation proceedings, the Obama Administration also caught and released 16000 criminal aliens in 2013 were put into deportation proceedings (19)



15. Executive Amnesty
Obama continued to make the case that he couldn't unilaterally change immigration laws, insisting that it was a problem for Congress to solve. However, after Congress failed to pass immigration reform, Obama began to threaten to use executive action to grant amnesty to illegals. Obama waited until after the 2014 midterms to formally announced another executive action on immigration. This time, he granted amnesty to as many as five million illegal immigrants. With the announcement, President Obama had truly stretches executive Authority beyond the breaking point (21).

16. Common Core through Bribery
Since Common Core began replacing State education standards in 2010, there's been plenty of criticism from both right and left leaning States about what is seen as a federal takeover of Education. The problems with the Common Core Curriculum and standards have become increasingly apparent and numerous. For example, Hunger Games is considered more complex literature than The Grapes of Wrath (23).

23. Climate Change Radicalism
Obama is representatives and appointees, including Secretary of State John Kerry, have repeatedly made the claim that climate change is a bigger threat than terrorism (33).
The Obama Administration has shifted funds in 10 different military improvements to climate change causes.
Without the approval of Congress, he entered the U.S. into an international climate change mitigation treaty in 2015. Such an action is illegal by the United States Constitution.


Personal Corruption
24. An Opaque Administration
Obama promised that he would post all bills online for 5 days prior to signing them, but managed to break this promise 9 days after assuming office (36).

25. Excessive and Lavish Taxpayer-Funded Vacations
By March 2015, Obama and his family had taken 38 vacations, according to one estimate. This, of course, does not include Obama's hundreds of golf outings. George W Bush was an avid golfer but, by the end of his presidency, he'd only hit the links about a hundred times, most of which were in his first year in office. Obama is well over 300 (37).

28. Taxpayer dollars for Obama donors
Major corporations lobbying the American government to donate at least $283 million dollars to Obama’s second inauguration (41).

34. The worst record with the Supreme Court
the Obama Administration also filed an amicus brief supporting warrantless searches of cell phones of American citizens and Riley v. California— and lost. And U.S. v. Jones, Obama's justice department failed to convince the Supreme Court that the federal government doesn't need a warrant to secretly put GPS tracking devices on citizens cars for any reason (51).

36. In March 2014, President Obama unilaterally changed the regulations in the fair labor standards Act of 1938 to move as many as 10 million “ executive and professional” employees into a category which requires their employers to pay them overtime for working more than a certain number of hours per week. There was no Congressional debate. No Congressional vote. No checks and balances. It was another blatant abuse of executive power (53). These increases in the cost of labor are typically offset by having fewer employees and/or increasing prices for consumers.

41. As early as 2010, it was reported that the Obama Administration was funnelling leftover money to various groups, some of which were clearly partisan, political groups allied with the Obama Administration. Ex: Bank of America got $194 million dollars reduced from their penalty by donating $84 million to groups on Obama's approved nonprofit list


The Economy

42. Federal takeover of student loans
on March 30, 2010, President Obama signed a law taking over the Student Loan program from private lenders. He did this under the guise of Sid Gurney students from the predatory lending practice of issuing loans unfairly High interest rates and, in the short-term, this move did lower student loan interest by 1 or 2%. The reality of the situation, though, is that by federalizing student loans, the government, actually profits immensely from both interest on loans it makes directly to students, and defaults, all while shackling America's young people in the bonds of government dependency and blocking any hope for more Innovative methods of financing a college degree. According to Alan khilenge, founder of studentloanjustice.org, “ to say that the federal government now sits atop the most predatory lending system in our nation's history is not an understatement.” (62)

46. Largest Deficits in History
Obama has given us the top 6 highest U.S. deficits in history: $1.4 trillion (FY2009), $1.3 trillion (FY2010), $1.3 trillion (FY2011), $1.1 trillion (FY2012), $680 billion (FY2013), and $483 billion (FY2014). Obama’s first deficit was more than triple George W. Bush’s largest deficit of $455 billion in FY2008. When adjusted for inflation, Obama's deficits (2009-2015) are the seven highest deficits in history, surpassing even the spending of World War II (67).



47. More Debt than all past presidents...Combined
As a presidential candidate in 2008, Obama called President George W bush unpatriotic and are responsible for adding $4 trillion dollars to national debt during his two-year term. However, under Obama, the national debt past $19 trillion dollars on February 1st 2016 (68).

48. Passing 100 Percent Debt/GDP Ratio
In August 201,, America’s Debt-to-GDP ratio exceeded 100% (69). By the end of the 2012, the Debt-to-GDP ratio had risen to 103.8%. By the end of FY2013, the Debt-to-GDP ratio was 106%.

49. Credit Rating Downgrade
On August 5, 2011, Standard & Poor downgraded US credit rating from AAA to AA+. This was the first time in its history that the United States had its credit downgraded (69).

51. The Food Stamp President
By Election Day, 2012, the number of Americans on food stamps where was to a record-high 46.7 million people. The number of food stamp recipients who roughly 11,213 day during Obama's first term. By November 2012, for each person who managed to find a job in the Obama economy, 75 went on food stamps. On the day Obama took office, there were 31.94 million Americans participating in the food stamp program. At the end of fiscal year 2015, there were 45.77 million— a 43% increase. Further aggravating the problem is the cost of the program, which is skyrocketed. In fiscal year 2008 the cost of the food stamp program was $37.6 billion dollars. Under Obama, the costs have doubled, coming in at $73.98 billion in fiscal year 2015 after peaking at $79.87 billion in fiscal year 2013. How did this happen? Obama's 2009 “ Stimulus,” which increased the benefits of the program and relaxed eligibility.

52. The Disability President
Under Obama, social security disability claims have been rising at a 4.5% annual rate, even though the incidences of workplace injuries have been declining for many years now (72).

59. Decline of Entrepreneurship
Small businesses were forced to freeze hiring, cut jobs, even scale-back growth because of Obamacare, and Obama's Financial regulations of dried up startup capital. His policies have been killing America's entrepreneurs..

60. Tax Hikes after promised tax cuts
As a candidate for president in 2008, Barack Obama promised to cut taxes for the middle class. He promised that “ no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Now your income tax, now your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” According to an analysis by Americans for tax reform, Obama's budget proposals for fiscal year 2010 through fiscal year 2015 included a total 442 tax increases! Even the left-wing fact-checking site PolitiFact had to concede that Obama's promise to cut taxes on the middle class was not kept.

Foreign Policy: General
September of 2012, Obama said of Egypt, “ I don't think that we would consider them in an allie, but we do not consider them an enemy.” White House aides in the state department had to scramble to correct the record that Egypt is, in fact, a major NATO Ally, and has been since 1989 (113).

85. Hurting our special relationship with Britain (117)
Weeks after taking office, Obama sent back a bronze bust of Winston Church given to the U.S. from Britain as a pledge of friendship after the 9/11 attack.
In March of 2009, he gave Prime Minister Gordon Brown a box set of classic American films, but the discs were incompatible with British DVD players.

86. Betraying Poland
On September 17th, 2009, Obama, a longtime opponent of missile defense, kill plans for joint missile defense with Poland and the Czech Republic. These countries, once under Soviet Rule, still fear Russia Today. Obama had pledged support for the program just six months earlier (119).

87. The First Anti-Israel President
He refused to accept Jerusalem as the capital of Israel (120)

101. Unilaterally Normalizing Relations with Cuba
Communist Cuba is a bankrupt, oppressive regime that the United States is kept at arm's length for more than half a century. Obama decided, without any notice and with no political debate, to restore America relations with Cuba. In a secret deal, Obama leverage to swap us some Cuban spies in return for an imprisoned American Aid worker as an initial means of starting negotiations Cuba over normalization of relations (136). Despite Obama's desire to act unilaterally, much of American policy towards Cuba is codified and US law, such as the economic embargo, and dust can't be changed no matter how powerful Obama's pen and phone had become (137). So, while Obama could not immediately change all aspects of US policies towards Cuba, he did whatever he could, including going out of his way to shake hands with Cuba’s dictator Raul Castro, and nixing Cuba from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism. Obama justify his decision by saying that Cuba had not provide any support to terrorists in the prior six months, and he also guarantee that Cuba would not support terrorism in the future. A day after the announcement, Cuban backed FARC terrorists in Colombia murder 10 Colombian soldiers (137)

102. Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine
in 2014, Russia invaded Ukraine. Obama warned Putin to keep out of Ukraine, but what of it? Because of Obama's weakness and world affairs, the world knows Obama won't do anything that requires a long-term military commitment and the buy-in of the American people. As “ punishment” for the Invasion, Obama impose small, targeted sanctions against a small number of Russian and Ukrainian officials. Those sanctions were quickly mocked by Russia's Deputy Prime Minister (139).

103. Declining respect for America's power
Obama has been described in foreign media as in “ embarrassing amateur on the world stage,” with a “ weak-kneed, confused, and strategically incoherent” foreign policy (140).

Obamacare
152. The Partisan Health Care Bill
Not only did Obama get the bill passed with essentially no GOP support, but he refused to include GOP legislators and conservative analysts when designing, drafting, and proofing the bill (217).

153. The Obamacare Co-Op Debacle
An obscure provision in Obamacare allocated $2.4 billion in taxpayer-funded, tax-free loans to establish 23 Obamacare co-ops nationwide to compete with private health insurance providers (218). Due to gross mismanagement, by January 2016, more than half of Obamacare co-ops had failed, costing a quarter of a million Americans their insurance, and leaving the taxpayers $1.2 billion in unpaid loans (219).

156. The Obamacare Thought Police
He wrote new regulations making it clear that employers could not lay off workers to get below the 100-employee threshold and qualify for exemption from the mandate (222).

158. Obamacare causing Americans to Delay Medical Care over Costs
For too many people, particularly the middle class, health care premiums and deductibles increased because of Obamacare (223).

160. Illegal Unilateral “Fixes” to Obamacare
When millions of Americans discover they were to lose to plants they had it would now have higher premiums a higher deductibles, it was clear that something had to be done in order to reduce the political Fallout. Obama's red line was crossed with no action from us; Russia got a mass of increasing influence as they got their Ally, aside, out of a tight spot. But the Assad regime failed to honor the agreement, as the first deadline for the surrender of the stockpile of chemical weapons was not met. This book is definitely worth your time. In the “doomsday clock” of absolute totalitarianism this book shows that the hands have jumped from 4:30 PM to 11:30. We have dodged the bullet on the total lock by rejecting Clinton. We can only hope that this information can help us turn back the hands and drain the swamp a little.
Obama continues to use the mainstream media to lie and cheat his way into unearned credit. While the Netflix propaganda vehicle invades the gestalt, this book is an essential reality reminder. This evil man is only a poster boy for the socialist machine. But the information in this book exposes the strategy and tactics that our own socialist fifth column is employing. About 120 of the 200 reasons to fear/hate Obama can be directly attributed to Trudeau, Notley, Wynne et al. This book presents a window on our future in Canada and should be required reading for anyone still trying to understand why we are in this mess of “politically correct” social engineering. This book shows that the new world of politics is not organic but is an agenda planned and implemented by power mad totalitarians. The longer we allow this to continue to less freedom will be left to future generations.
The book is easy to read. Don’t expect a story to unfold but rather a series of 200 factual, short news items. They are assembled into relatively coherent and separate issues and can serve as reference subjects. But in my opinion, it is worth while to read it through as presented. I would have liked to see an appendage list of all the reasons, and I would wish for an updated version that includes Obama’s malfeasance with the Clinton campaign. But in it’s context to 2015 it is an excellent presentation.

This was an eye-opening expose'. The details Margolis presented about the actions of Obama are incredible. I can't see why he was not impeached -- or further, charged with treason! The damage he did to the Country will take years to repair, unless the Democrats lose their "no cooperation" attitude and get back to the business of doing the job they were elected to do by the Constitution.

Thankfully, I didn’t pay money for this. I saw it on the shelf and thought I would browse through to see what topics of Obama’s administration were examined. Within a few minutes, it was clear that it was extreme right propaganda. I researched the authors and quickly saw that disinformation is Matt’s main agenda. I’m sure it will feed the Republican cult, but it’s not going to get far with conservatives who still want what is best for the country.

I was endlessly impressed with the author's level of detail in this book. I believe there are close to 1200 citations in this book, which would honestly take years to check. The authors did not pull any punches in their descriptions of Obama's policies, something the MSM never did while he was president.
