A new type of psychic power.
There are holes in the plot/story, but I didn't mind.
I like this author's writing. It's quiet and smooth. You can tell she thinks about the ramifications of the power she gave Addie. There's action and intrigue but not a lot of tension, which I often like. I can't take a lot of stress.

Addie is a 17 year old with a secret psychic curse gift that has made life difficult for her in the past. But now it has brought her to a choice that is a lot to ask of a high school girl.
Jake isn't what he seems at the high school and doesn't appreciate her singling him out. ...at least he doesn't at first.

It's a pretty clean read.

One of the themes I like to read about in books is when the characters have special abilites which help them to solve murders, a bit like the TV show Medium or in this case it was more The Listener but with a hint of Medium - two of my favourite tv shows. In Hidden Truths which I have to admit was one of the best books in this theme that I have read in a long time as it has to be pretty amazing for me to give it a highly recommended and Hidden Truths by Kristin Coley falls into that category. The main character Addie has the ability to know what people are thinking or the answers to the questions if she has been asked or hears something phrased as a question which is pretty awesome I think. She can also have strong visions and dreams of events. This book satrts with the abduction of a boy from her school which leads Addie to seek out Jake aka Tristan who is an undercover cop in her school. He is pretending to be a Bad boy high school student. With Addie's help he finds the boy and as they collect the cues and evidence it turns out that the boy was involved in a darker and deeper plot that contains corrupted policemen or as they call them in the book the dirty needles. During this book too , it has a bit of a romance thread with Jake and Addie becoming closer, which I have to admit I liked as I found the characters of both Addie and Jake relatable and the pair of them made me swoon. Kristin did an amazing job of writing her characters as all of them you just found that you could connect with them all. Without giving away the storyline, I will say that if you love ability novels and wanting a suspenseful tale to read , then Hidden Truths by Kristin Coley is one YA read you will have add to your 2016 must read list.
There was just something about this book that you will not be able to put down the book and once finished you will go WOW , that was pretty awesome.

It was okay. The writing was decent, but there was something missing. It did not grab me like I hoped it would.
The hero is 22 years old.
The heroine is 17 years old and a senior in HS.

Hero has a girlfriend, Sarah, who he claims he loves, but by the time you meet Sarah you see that it was over anyway. There is really no OW drama. Sarah is never rude. No girl fights, etc.

How they solve the murder mystery was interesting, but after awhile I was bored and found myself skimming.

I won't be reading the rest of the series.

The heroine is a "psychic" who helps the police find the murderer. When you ask the heroine a question, she can give you the answer.

This was a Romantic Suspense which I thought was awesome except for 2 things: 1) there was quite a bit of unbelievable things that happened in the book, and no, I'm not talking about Addie (heroine) being psychic. This was besides of that. 2) there was some "make out" scenes, but no sex, I'm sorry to say.

There was Mystery, Romance, Mature YA, Adult, Suspense, Action filled, Psychic abilities, Undercover Cops, High School, Best Friends, Family, Crime, Corrupt Officials, Drug Trafficking, Teenagers, Murder, Humor, and lotsa Love.

Unique story line

I really enjoyed so many aspects of this story that I had to give it a higher rating. I didn’t love that he didn’t break up with girlfriend nearly soon enough. It was a complicated situation, definitely not a typical relationship by any means. Adding that with the fact that this was basically clean (and therefor also no mention of him sleeping with the girlfriend who he didn’t live with and rarely saw either) and I managed to make my peace.

I could confirm what he knew, answer questions to get us closer to the truth, plus I knew exactly who had committed the crime. by Addie

Everything! :)
Amazing plot! Addie has a paranormal gift that lets her know the answer for all questions. She joins forces with a young undercover cop to solve a mysterious murder case.
This was a very fast-paced read that kept me guessing and wanting more at the end.
The author's writing style is incredible, with everything very cohesive and relevant to the story. There are a few plot twists along the way and some sub-plots that make this book a very easy read.
I love both main characters and also all secondary characters. In fact, I would love to read a follow-up of this book. They are easy to love, connect and understand.
The romance is masterfully written with the couple's relationship blossoming from friendship into love. We feel their love and passion for each other. Their chemistry is undeniable from the beginning.
I was lucky to have a national holiday here, and I could read this book without many interruptions, only having to pick up my kids once at the beach. :) This was a very addictive read that I didn't want to part with.

The cover!!! I know, some find it crazy that I give so much importance for cover and title, but I do buy many books only by its cover, and I do judge it along with the title. I love art, and I believe is can be expressed in many forms. My reading journey usually starts and end with a cover, where I try to see the story I'm going to read. I would not buy this book without reading the blurb. I like the colors of fall, even the sort of blurry effect with the background, but I can't really see Addie here, neither the mystery nor the fear.

I didn't want to share you. Or admit that something changed when I met you. by Jake

You MAY buy this book because you enjoy a good mystery; you SHOULD buy this book because you like YA reads; but you MUST READ this book if you are looking for an endearing love story!!!

I liked this book because Addie has the one of my favorite super powers of ALL time! She can basically answer any questions that is asked of her. I consistently daydream of having this super power, I mean, how cool would it be have this power? I have never read a story with this preminse before and I found it highly original and entertaining.

And another thing I liked about this book was how quickly Addie knew she had to help find the bad guys in this book. She didn’t waffle back and forth (okay maybe just a smidge of waffling in the beginning) about whether she should interfere, she saw a need that only she could fill and she jumped in feet first. One of the cool things about her power was that there wasn’t a black and white answer to every question that was asked of her. And the answers could always change depending on the circumstances so they needed to re-ask some questions from time to time. This added a nice dimension and layer to the story.

I enjoyed the action and mystery of it as well as the attraction Addie had with Jake. He is a bit older than her and while they acknowledged their attraction to each other, they appropriately focused on catching the big bad before acting on it. And also, there was the added drama of Jake being an undercover cop and having a girlfriend as well to overcome. I will be reading more from this author, in fact, I have already read other books by her.

Addie always knows the answers to questions, with no idea why. When she sees her Grandfather reading the newspaper with an article about a lost boy, Addie instantly knows where he is. She desperately wants to go find the boy, but logistically does not know how she can. When she spots a strange boy at her school, she knows he will help her. The two of them are now part of something much bigger than themselves, and everyone's life is at stake.
Not to be a jerk, but the cover does not do the book justice (I will confess that sometimes I pick books because the cover is pretty). I feel like the cover design was a little boring and monochromatic for what the book was actually about, how exciting and twisty. I have read other stories about teen girls with psychic gifts and the young police officer they find themselves working with. That being said, I am not complaining, I was completely in love with this story (and to be honest, every other version of this story I have encountered). This was a great mystery that I could not predict ahead of time, with a supernatural gift that was unique and useful, as well as with a dose of romance thrown in. The best part of this book (to me at least) was the well developed characters.
Addie was a really interesting character. By the end of the book, I felt like I knew her and that the two of us could be friends. She was strong, determined, ethical, honest, loyal, and caring. She was a 17 year old high school girl, but she felt like an old soul with her mellow attitude and calm reactions. She was the main character, but she was not the only character in the story that I loved. Jake was the best, seriously the perfect hero/love interest (at least in my world). He was dreamy, plain and simple, and the way he reacted to her was so honest, with the fact he was willing to help save a life even when he was uncertain of the motives/explanation. Connor was really fun and I enjoyed the dynamic between him and Addie, him and Jake, and definitely him and Jules. Jules and Carly were side characters, but both with unique individual voices and played crucial roles in the story. The author did a great job of creating people that I cared and empathized with, which is such a big selling point for me in a book.

I am almost positive that this is a standalone book because of how everything was wrapped up so nicely, but I would absolutely love to read more about these people in this world. The author wrote such an engaging story that I would love to read more by her in the future. Overall, this was a fast, fun read that I absolutely loved and am so happy that I got the chance to read.

I received this title from the author in return for my honest review.

Going into this, I was intrigued. The premise was so interesting, and I was really excited to dig in! The main character's ability was really cool, and for sure unique. Although it wasn't really explained (we kinda dove right into the middle there, and had to figure it out for ourselves..) it was something that I had never heard of before! Basically, she can see the answer to any question that you ask her (it would really solve the question, 'where did I put my darn phone?!'). It's a "super power" that is fresh, and has never really been done before. Because of this power, she meets Jake, an undercover cop. Lemme say that he is SUPER HOT sounding! The only odd thing about him is that he is waaay to accepting of Addie's supernatural gift. Like barely any questions regarding it, and then decides to right away trust her. That and he says some rather cringy stuff about/to Addie that make you go WTF? a little. But other than that, I thought that though the relationship between the two protagonists was quite tense (a lot of sexual tension),it worked quite well. I loved the scene where Addie starts talking about sex and cars, within the first 20 minutes of meeting him! If you don't laugh at that you are dead inside! My main critique is that her writing style wasn't really my cup of tea (however that's just my opinion, not anything against the book/story). It was a little choppy, and the chapters didn't seem to flow together... (again in my opinion) but Jake's hotness made up for most of it! (Strange how you can totally go gaga for a book character!) I thought this book was really interesting, and it kept me on my toes all the way through. I actually went "OH MY GOSH!" aloud, while reading, as it took quite a few unexpected turns. This book wasn't what I expected, but it finished up in a really fascinating place.

This certainly wasn’t what I expected when I began reading this book. I like to try my best to forget the blurb while I read after I’ve signed up so I can go into a book “blind” to the synopsis, but it doesn’t always work. Well, in this case the author did a fantastic job of being honest in the description without really giving anything away. There are many secrets and lies in this story, and not everything you think will be accurate. I’m usually on point with my guesses, but with Hidden Truths I was constantly thrown for a loop. It really lives up to the mystery genre to which it belongs, and though it’s labeled young adult, I’d definitely recommend it for an older audience, probably 16 and over. It’s an intense journey and some elements might be too… desperate? Bleak? Scary? for a younger crowd. Definitely a good deal darker than I would have thought given the mild autumn cover, and a fast paced read that will be perfect for your upcoming weekend!

4.5 stars and my thanks to the author and tour host for the review opportunity!

Love this story

Very well written and a great plot. It reminds me of the style of Lois Duncan (whom I loved as a teen). I deducted one star because the H & h love story begins when he is already in a relationship. Then it continues for way longer than reasonable without admitting it’s douchey.

Okay, well, this was actually a pretty cool concept. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out with the story, but I think it held up pretty well. I think there were a few times when she knew someone's emotions though even though the question didn't have anything to do with them or sometimes she got information from things that weren't questions at all. So, that was a little messy. Although, there was mention of the possibility that her gift was growing because she was using it in a different way. But, overall, I think it was a pretty interesting read.

I gave it 2 stars instead of 3 because she's 17, and he's 22. Gross. Seriously? Was that just so there was no sex in this book, so there ends up being so much tension on through the next book when she finally turns 18? Cuz it's just kind of grody to me. Limiting their sexual relationship is the only reason I can think of to have her not be 18 already when the book started. I really think this would have made a really good NA book with her being 18 and in college. It would make more sense because who in the hell is going to mistake a 22 year old man for an 18 year old. Maybe on TV, but 18 year old boys do NOT look the same four years later. They just don't. Especially if they are buff and super hot. Maybe a nerdy, skinny dude? Anyway! I just docked it a star because I would rather not read stuff about underage dating even if it's not a huge deal as they get older.

While this was definitely an interesting and original plot, the story needs a bit more development. It felt a bit shallow, although I did enjoy it overall. A few inconsistencies, but the growing relationship between Jake, the sexy young, extremely young undercover narc and the sassy, unique and even younger Addie was sweet. I'd have loved to get a better understanding of Addie's background or family life, as only briefs glimpses were given, but felt more like filler paragraphs. The story was very fast paced and sort of switched from one scene to the next, not really giving it a smooth transition. With a little bit more time to invest in the book, I know that it could be incredible. That being said, it was a quick, sweet and feel-good read.

Ok, so this book was annoying but in a good way, if that makes sense. The story itself was good and I really did want to know what happened in the end. The problem was, it was very unrealistic. It’s a book, I know it’s not meant to be real but it was really unbelievable, like ridiculous! I found it very hard to keep reading sometimes even though I did like where the story was going.

I’m not sure if I’ll go back to this to see how this book ends because I do really want to know but just can’t keep reading this right now lol.

Hidden Truths begins when Addie realizes she knows where a missing boy is, and she knows exactly who can help her. But, she had no idea making this little fact known would change her whole world forever, now she must work with her new friend Jake to figure out what's going on and how they can stop it.

This book was a huge surprise. I was instantly sucked in by this book. The plot line and mystery was just awesome, and the characters were great as well. I really thought it was good, and I look forward to more.

A hidden read!

Hidden truths never stay hidden...

This was such a different and incredibly unique read that will take you on a journey. I love age gap reads and this book surpassed any and all expectations.

I loved the paranormal and mystery element with such a unique gift that the heroine possesses. I cannot wait to read the first of these books. Very good writing and stories.

Full of mystery, truths, questions, answers, family, friends and romance.

Perfect for readers of paranormal romances.

So much going on..

In the beginning, it's all about the case, then it becomes all about the romance, and finally, the two seem to come together. It was a great read, and especially in the beginning I could not put it down. It seemed to me, that for keeping her secret for so long, she suddenly told a lot of people. This ends with a HFN, although from looking at the other books in the series, it seems that the relationship continues in the next books. Not sure if I'll go on with the series or not. We'll see if the characters call to me or not.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This will probably be the third or fourth time iv read this series. I love it.. the unique take on the psychic genre is so refreshing. I love all the characters. Especially Connor. Jake and Addie are amazing as the leads but Connor as the side character is just brilliant, I love his sense of humour throughout the whole series. Addie is such a strong character, I love everything about her and I love how protective Jake is towards Addie. The storyline was really good in each Nd every book of the series too

This was one of the best books I've ever read in this genre!

Wow! This story blew me away. Addie is a dynamic, charming and witty character. She's just so everything and very mature for her age. I love her realism and there's no selfishness to her. Jake and the rest of the characters are excellent foils and the whole story was perfect!

Really great read.

I usually avoid age gap books because they're rarely done in a way that portrays either character in a very good light but Kristin Coley did a great job! I loved this book and have already started the next book in the series. Definitely worth a read even if paranormal or age gap isn't your thing.

It's an okay read. I do have reservations though about the age of the h. Nothing explicitly sexual happens between her and the H, but it was still uncomfortable reading the sections where they are intimate.
