Enid Mary Blyton (1897–1968) was an English author of children's books.

Born in South London, Blyton was the eldest of three children, and showed an early interest in music and reading. She was educated at St. Christopher's School, Beckenham, and - having decided not to pursue her music - at Ipswich High School, where she trained as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for five years before her 1924 marriage to editor Hugh Pollock, with whom she had two daughters. This marriage ended in divorce, and Blyton remarried in 1943, to surgeon Kenneth Fraser Darrell Waters. She died in 1968, one year after her second husband.

Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's.

According to the Index Translationum, Blyton was the fifth most popular author in the world in 2007, coming after Lenin but ahead of Shakespeare.

In this lifetime i will never underestimate the power of 'Enid Blyton'. The very reason i ventured into reading and continue to read is because i began with one of Blyton's books in the school library when marking the pages with dog ear was prohibited, but inevitable.

I found these books at my Grandparent's house one summer holiday back in the 1970's amd still remember being enthralled with the stories. A naughty version of Malory Towers,the main character was such a rebel! Enid Blyton definately shaped my childhood and my love for reading.

Really loved the story and more so the school. I like that the kids rule themselves and are actually quite sensible about it! And that everyone is given a chance. A few ideas on how discipline ought to work where children, and in fact anyone, is concerned can be picked up!

Enid never fails to leave one with an emotional attachment to a book. Whether it be about a family on vacation, a magical tale or in this case a prim schoolgirl and her adventures... Loved it!

I remember loving these books when I was a kid, and they are still powerful stuff. Of course they seem shorter and with less in them now, but still, how radical is the idea of a children's council? Very liberating. Also, the idea that your flaws are not something you are born with. They arise out of circumstances, and they can be changed.

Terrific books and I'd give them to children today.

I noticed some editor had updated the money into metric. I don't know why they bother. It's clear that a world where children listen to the wireless and embroider handkerchief cases for their friends is not today. I think the charm of pounds shillings and pence would add to the period atmosphere.

Another great book (or set there-of) from Enid Blyton. While a few bits of the older-style English were a little difficult to get my tongue around, the story was wonderful, characters realistic and loveable. Lovely book.

We all need school to learn but Elizabeth Allen didn't want to go to school, then she got an idea she thought that if I be naughty they will send me from the school but it didn't work. Because she is in W...Wh...Why...Whyt...Whyte...Whytel...Whytele...Whytelea...Whyteleaf...Whyteleafe school. When Elizabeth went to Whyteleafe she saw every thing different in the school. Then she become a sensible, good and a happy girl. I loved this book very much I could even read this book a million times that much amazing this book is.

Naughtiest girl,I loved reading it. Enid Blyton sparked the enormous love of reading within me as her books are amongst my first reads. St Claire's and Malory Towers are also my favourites. Coming back to the naughtiest girl, she is an adorable girl and her adventures oh well Enid creates such funny and fascinating situations that it's hard to read one book of a series you WILL have that urge to read the whole series. Good time reading.

I love the story, I love the character and I really love the writting style of the author.
I already become an adult but this books still one of my favorite books.
